Why buy this one? All Jaguars are not created equally, nor do they live their lives similarly. This is a pampered 2 owner original paint car that has lived a privileged life, with its original owner of 7 years in a posh suburb of Philadelphia and its current owner in the beautiful hills of Bedford Village, NY. Always garaged, and living together with an outstanding collection of classic motorcycles, the car has never seen snow. As with all fine cars, service is of the utmost importance. This car has seen all its major services in a timely fashion. All fluids were replaced at 2,500 mile intervals. All parts, including oil filters, have been purchased from our local Jaguar dealer in White Plains. Currently replaced parts include, rotors, pads, catalytic converter, Interstate battery, Cooper Classic Tyres, Ball Joints, Transmission Shifting Linkage, Upper and lower hoses, belts and filters. Bills are provided. So!  How does the car look, feel, and drive?? Starting with the Connolly Leather interior, it still smells new. The leather has the perfect amount of wear to sustain its age with grace and beauty. The carpeting is also like new. The patina of the entire interior defines the quality of craftsmanship of this world coveted marque.  All the electronics work perfectly. Truly! The doors close like a vault. The windows and sun roof move silently. Radio is great with an iPod auxiliary or a CD in the glove compartment. At 60 MPH all you hear are your thoughts. The ride? Only like a Jaguar can produce. I have owned a fine assortment of European marques, and I can assure you that the seating comfort of this car and the ride are among the best in the world. Electric lumbar on both chairs. AC is perfect. The older Freon is far superior to what manufacturers are regulated to use today. Fuel economy for a car of this weight is beyond excellent. Around town, 22 mpg is normal, and highway consumption at 70 mph verges on over 30 mpg using 89 octane. The company recommends premium. Oh well! The paint is what you would expect from a car of this age. It shows well and has a deep luster. Cruise control is seamless. Central alarm, auto lock, and auto light dim are among some of the luxury options. All working. 2 sets of keys and fobs are provided as well as its original owners books and manuals. Full size spare and alloy are also included.  In closing, this is a NO RESERVE, NO MINIMUM AUCTION. The jag will sell in 7 days. Bid with confidence. Drive it home, even if you live in California! I mean it. If you care to visit, you may. We are just 40 miles north of Times Square. Feel free to call me at (914) 403-1768 to arrange showing. If you prefer, I will meet with a representative of yours. If transportation is of concern, I strongly recommend my friend and colleague, Dave Lambert of Transport Masters. You may call him at (561) 504-7030 for a free quote. I will expect a certified or cashiers check sent overnight within 24 hours of the time of the end of the auction.  So, all being said, read this description carefully. It is an honest snapshot of the car as it is today. I hope the third owner enjoys it as well as we have. Good luck! Have fun. Thank you, fireman John Louis  (yes, 20 year member Bedford Village Volunteers).

Watch this Jaguar XJ220 perform a fiery burnout

Thu, 19 Jun 2014

We like to think that at least some supercar owners drive their exotic machinery the way they're meant to be driven. The reality is more likely that most pamper them in climate-controlled environments and rarely actually drive them. But Tax The Rich seems dedicated to balancing them all out by hooning the heck out of some of the most expensive and desirable supercars the world has ever seen - whether it's a Ferrari Enzo rallying along dirt roads or a pair of F50s playing tug of war.
The YouTube channel has even played around with a Jaguar XJ220 before, but not quite like this. In its latest clip, Tax The Rich goes a step or two beyond the usual smokey burnout, lighting up the rear wheels of a super-rare Jag, all for our viewing pleasure. And take pleasure we do in the video below, even as part of us cringes at the thought of potentially reducing one of the fastest Jaguars in history to a smoldering hulk.

Seven-figure cars highlight day one of RM's Monterey auction

Sat, 17 Aug 2013

RM Auctions is one of several houses holding auctions during the Monterey weekend, and Friday night's festivities got quite pricey. Seven-figure vehicles were not at all uncommon during the first day of the two-day event, with the 1953 Ferrari 375 MM Spider, seen above, crossing the block for $9,075,000.
Other big earners included a pair of rare Ferraris, a 1950 166 MM Barchetta and a 1955 750 Monza Spider, which took $3,080,000 and $4,070,000, respectively. Outside of the red Italians, a 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special captured $7,480,000 while a stunning, color-appropriate 1955 Jaguar D-Type took $3,850,000. We've got images of these vehicles, and a few other stunning examples of last night's auction, in the gallery above.
Thought it seems impossible, tonight's auction is expected to see even more high-dollar action. The winner of the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours, a 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Torpedo Roadster is expected to command over $10 million. Also crossing the block will be a car we reported on a few weeks back - a supremely rare 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder. One of only 10 in the world, it's expected to take anywhere from $14 to $17 million when it hits the stage tonight.

Ecurie Ecosse collection brings in millions

Wed, 04 Dec 2013

It's rare to see an entire racing team's collection go up for auction at once, but that's just what happened this past weekend at Bonhams' new headquarters in London, where there Ecurrie Ecosse collection brought in top dollar (or pound, anyway).
The collection, whose consignment we first reported on back in September, included a smattering of Jaguars, other classic racers and an iconic transporter truck, all decked out in the same blue and white livery of the Scottish flag. After reportedly feverish bidding on Sunday, the 1952 Jaguar C-Type sold for £2,900,000 ($4.75m), the '56 short-nose D-Type for another £2,600,000 ($4.26m), and the transporter for a shocking £1,800,000 (nearly $3 million) - all to the same unnamed American collector. A 1952 Jaguar XK120 roadster went to another buyer for a record £707,000 ($1.16m).
With Ringo Star's Facel Vega selling for £337,500 ($550k) and Michael Schumacher's Benetton B194 fetching another £617,500 (just over a million), the auction total skyrocketed to £16,861,630 ($2.75m), which Bonhams described as "a roaring success". Scope out the press release below for more info.
