#16 Of Last 100 Series Iii Jaguar Xj12 Vanden Plas Special Edition, Rare In U.s on 2040-cars

For the Jaguar enthusiast, this is #16 of the last 100 Series III Jaguars. Jaguar changed models in the US market in 1987 but continued producing the Series III for the Canadian market until 1992.  These last 100 produced truly represent the pinnacle of the Series III model. All of the last 100 were speced with unique options and all had the V12 engine (also referred to as the Daimler Double Six) and the Vanden Plas designation.  The chance to own one of these cars is rare, especially one already imported into the U.S.  This is truly one of the most beautiful Series III Jaguars available on ebay or anywhere else.

Number 16 has Black Cherry paint in beautiful condition.  This car turns heads everywhere I go.  There are some minor flaws and scratches, but they are almost impossible to see in any photo because the paint reflects like glass.  She also has doeskin leather interior contrasting with buckskin piping.  These cars were essentially hand made with the best leather hides and wood.  #16 has a gorgeous dark burled walnut dash and the door filets are burled walnut inlaid with Peruvian Boxwood.  The interior looks brand new other than some minor wear on the driver seat, and the shifter council has some cracks and a chip in the wood.  Once you see the interior leather with the dark piping you will think every other Jaguar looks plain.

The XJ12 starts every time and drives like a dream.  The transmission shifts smoothly and you feel you have unlimited power with the V12. A recent tune up has #16 running incredibly well.

The car has a working sunroof that I use most everyday and all the electronics and windows work.  It also has the boot mounted CD player, sport steering wheel, Bosch ABS brakes, headlight wipers and daytime running lights (unique to this vehicle.) I replaced the contentious automatic aerial with a standard manual aerial, but kept the old motor in place if you want to get aggravated by it.

This car was owned by a wealthy family in Canada for most of it’s life and was well cared for.  I have records showing all of the work performed at the Toronto Jaguar dealership. It was then bought by a collector in Toronto, who then sold it to me to make room for an XK120 restoration.  I legally imported it into the US and licensed it in Virginia about 2 years ago.  I have used it 2-3x a week when the weather is nice.

The Series III is arguably one of the most beautiful vehicles ever designed.  If you are going to get one, why not get one of the last 100 Jaguar made to be the best of the best?

The car is of course available for inspection and I would be happy to answer any questions.

Jaguar Land Rover puts the freeze on wounded soldier-athletes [w/video]

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

For athletes, the cold is often a powerful ally in treating injures, with RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) a popular means of treating muscle pulls, bruising and other common forms of discomfort. Did you know, though, that frosty temps are also popular tools for simply recovering from a rough training session?
Well, we're guessing Jaguar Land Rover knew that, as the British company was kind enough to loan out its climactic testing chamber to Jaco van Gass and Luke Darlington, a pair of veterans wounded in their service to Queen and Country. Van Gass, a former private in the Royal Army, and Darlington, a Royal Marine, are attempting to earn a spot on the British Armed Forces cycling team for the upcoming Invictus Games.
The Games, inspired by the Warrior Games held in the United States, are a sporting competition reserved for injured servicemen and women, either active duty or veterans, and is slated to take place from September 10 to 14 in London's former Olympic venues. Van Gass lost his left arm below the elbow after getting hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (he also suffered from a collapsed lung, punctured internal organs, severe shrapnel and blast wounds, a broken tibia and a fractured knee). Darlington, meanwhile, suffered a traumatic brain injury during action in Afghanistan, and he now suffers from weakness in his right side and cognitive issues.

Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee season 2 opens with Sarah Silverman and Jag E-Type

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

Season Two of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee kicked this week in style. How much more style is there to be had than in a 1969 Jaguar XKE, after all? This time around, Seinfeld and Sarah Silverman spend some time driving around in the "slinky, sexy" Jag, talking comedy and then grabbing breakfast.
In addition to the kickoff of the show's second season, this episode also represents the start of a 24-episode sponsorship with Acura. The original deal promised short ads at the beginning and end of each episode, but this time around, Seinfeld "stumbles upon" a 2014 Acura RLX, which is obviously - and admittedly - the work of product integration. Scroll down to watch Seinfeld and Silverman exchange banter with the Jag's beauty as a happy backdrop.

Jaguar XK and F-Type meet for final sibling faceoff

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

There's nothing that real, dyed-in-the-wool car geeks love so much as to say "Old Car X is actually a lot better than New Car Y." For reasons that defy both logic and science, we all (your author included) are able to, almost simultaneously, bitch about needed advancements in current vehicles and then bemoan character lost in the next crop.
Mitsubishi Evo models have been supremely prone to this bifurcation of opinion in recent years (ask an Evo IX fanboy about the Evo X sometime... ), and performance cars wearing WRX, Mustang, and M3 badges have been deeply subject to it, as well.
The Jaguar XK and F-Type are not exactly in the same one-model, generational-changeover form as those mentioned above, but that doesn't mean that there aren't defenders of both the old dog and the new joint. Autocar seeks the truth of the matter in this new video, and we're just happy to come along for the ride. May the best sib win.
