1976 Jaguar XJ6C. This was a Southern California car and the body is in great shape. Exterior is light green metallic and the interior is black. Vehicle will need a re-paint but that should not be too difficult, as the body is really nice with just one tiny dot of rust on the drivers door (the size of a dime). Seats, headliner and carpet are in great shape. The dash will need refinishing. The engine turns but does not start. I replaced the battery but I am not much of a mechanic so I have not been able to get it started. This would be a great car for someone with a little more knowledge.

Answers to some of the questions I have received:

I bought this car earlier this year and had it shipped from CA to TX. I was being nostalgic and thought I would work on it just like I worked on my Triumph in High School 25 years ago. Then I realized I had a wife, 3 young kids, 2 horses and a traveling job. Reality set in and I will never be able to get the time to work on it.

The guy I bought it from said it was running and driving as recently as 2 years ago. He tried to tune the carbs and got them all out of adjustment. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. What I do know id that the motor turns and is not seized (good news!). As you can see from the pics, the interior looks really good and there is no rust in the rear tire well (common place for rust on these). The windows and electrical work, albeit very slowly. Lights turn on and turn signals blink. The carpet and headliner look fairly new. The vinyl top looks good for its age, but it appears to be original.

The car comes with 4 spokes and the steel spare.

Evo pits Jaguar XKR-S vs. Mercedes SL63 AMG in heavyweight droptop fight

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

We recently received the sad news that the Jaguar XK is ceasing production by the end of the year, but what better way to bid it farewell than with some big, smoky powerslides? The retirement of the sporty GT isn't actually the topic of the latest video from Evo - it's on hand to compete against the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG to see which is faster around a track. Still, we can think of it as a wonderful sendoff for the Jag.
Both convertible grand tourers get their laps around the course, and they couldn't be more different. Driver Jethro Bovingdon gets some grins out of them both, but absolutely giggles while behind the wheel of the XKR-S convertible. The SL63 AMG is the more powerful of the two, but as we know, that doesn't always matter at a racetrack. You'll just have to scroll down and watch the video to see which of them is actually the winner.

Jay Leno's Garage drives Steve McQueen's 1956 Jaguar XKSS

Tue, 27 May 2014

Steve McQueen might be the coolest American male of the 20th century. With movies like Bullitt and Le Mans, McQueen established himself as the king of cool of his era, and on the list of actors you would pick for a fantasy racing team - he or Paul Newman are the natural first choices. The latest Jay Leno's Garage video highlights one of McQueen's most special cars - a 1956 Jaguar XKSS.
Just 16 XKSS models were made because a fire at the Jaguar factory halted production. It was meant to be a street version of the company's very successful D-Type racer, with a modified version of its 3.4-liter straight-six-engine and a four-speed manual gearbox. McQueen clearly had an eye for great vehicles. He drove his Jag around Los Angeles years after it was a cutting-edge piece of technology. Since then, it became part of the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA. Autoblog's The List even took a ride in it when the show visited the museum.
The XKSS is one of the pinnacles of automotive design of the '50s, and its association with McQueen makes this example even more extraordinary. Leno is in love with the car from the moment he sees it, and it's hard to argue with him. Between its emphasized curves and raspy exhaust, this is one sexy Jag. Scroll down to get an eyeful and earful from one of McQueen's favorite cars.
