Jaguar XJ6 with Dodge Slant 6 engine from Arizona (never salted)
Call 920-320-9192 with questions
Here we have up for your consideration this super clean 85 Jaguar XJ6 with transplant engine/trans Mopar Slant 6. When I lived in So Cal this car would not be that unusual but
here in the Mid West it is...Everything here in Wisconsin is really Rusty Crusty! So if you want a rust free car then this auction is for you.Ever think about jumping on a Plane and going to get a rust free car..I have! What's that worth for a project car that has a good base to start with..The original engine is
gone and replaced with the late 1980 ish I think it is 1987 maybe or so Slant 6. The engine has electronic ignition so think it is later and has aluminum intake. The transmission is also Mopar and will have to say it all fits in there very well...
I registered the car to make sure there was no problems..I have no where to store it so it has to move to the next owner. When I bought it the brakes where
not working and was told it was a line but after inspecting how truly rust free this car was I looked elsewhere and it turned out to be the master cylinder tank.(plastic)was cracked. It has brakes now but does not stop great the calipers are working but not correctly....I will have to add that it was a pleasure to bleed a car brakes when they came right loose because of the no salt on car thing...It was nice! All window glass seems to have no cracks in...etc.The car sat for a long long time at a local restaurant stranded.  I think they drove this car from Arizona to Wisconsin so that is kinda amazing in it self. Most everything crucial seems to work. Electric windows even work. Sunroof is stuck and does not work but motor makes noise. Engine runs good and it drives ok. The power steering line had a pin hole and leaked so I cut it and spiced it back together. Brake lights where not working and it ended up being a switch. I bought it off eBay. Speedometer is not hooked up by transmission ..I looked!
I think the door panels must have been replaced because they are too nice to be original..Seats are ok but have a tear here and there...Seat covers will fix it.
Carpet is nice and doors shut really really nice. I'm not sure of actual miles on car since speedo is not hooked up but think is is somewhat close to what it says plus 5k or so but that is a guess. The oil pressure gauge is working and think the alternator.
The temp sensor gauge is not. I think the engine and trans are solid ..just as a side note.I was told the engine was out of a truck but that has not been confirmed.
The engine numbers are under a bracket and have been lazy..I'm fixing a few things as the auction continues that need to be addressed

I have been driving the car and put new bushings and boots in the rack and pinion so that's done and drives nice....If you had this done I'm sure they would charge $800 or so to have this done.

wiring on the car under the hood to hook up engine looks like a fifth grader worked on it but I guess it works but should be gone through
Gauges need to be addressed.
Car looks like it was repainted at one time...

sold as is as a hot rod project...but it does run and drive.

I bought a 73 Jaguar in California when I lived there and it had a 350 chev transpant and the guy who had it done by someone charged him $5000.

Who ever gets this project car will fall in love with it...Its a nice ride!

Let me know if you have interest...You need to be a Mechanical person and enjoy working on cars to own this!

The car is located in Manitowoc ,WI 54220

Jaguar turns down offers to join V8 Supercars, questions AMG, Volvo participation

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Rumors have swirled in recent weeks that Jaguar may be the next manufacturer to join the V8 Supercars racing series, made popular in Australia but now well-known in other parts of the world as well. Sadly, Jag's participation is not to be. In fact, it would be "insane," according to Jaguar Land Rover Asia Pacific Managing Director David Blackhall, for it to accept either of the two offers it has received to bring Jaguar into V8 Supercars.
Not only is Jaguar not interested in entering V8 Supercars, says Blackhall, it also fails to understand the recent entries from AMG and Volvo. "I don't know what it does for AMG to get flogged by a V8 Commodore week after week, but it's their brand, their issue. And the same thing will happen to Volvo to be honest."
Judging by Blackhall's statements to motoring.com.au, after not-so-serious consideration, the automaker decided the monetary commitment it would take to compete for wins would be more than any potential exposure would be worth, despite the fact that Jaguar has a 5.0-liter V8 to go along with what would seem to be a tailor-made rear-wheel-drive chassis. For what it's worth, one offer would have had Jaguar putting its name across an engine made by someone else, an option that was flatly turned down.

Jaguar sculpture by RCA design students is a minimal beauty

Fri, 24 May 2013

With its well-deserved reputation for high design, it is not particularly surprising to see Jaguar reaching outside of the automotive realm for future inspiration. To that end, the British automaker recently enlisted the talents of students at the Royal College of Art to create a piece of forward-looking, automotive-inspired sculpture.
The result of this project can be seen above; a sculpture created by RCA students Claire Miller and Ewan Gallimore, and unveiled to a small audience to kick off London's Clerkenwell Design Week. The spare and rather elegant form created by the talented pair absolutely harkens back to coupes from Jaguar's past as well as its present (read: F-Type) without aping any one model particularly.
In a press release, the artists had this to say about the work: "Our form relates to the Jaguar brand through its sculptural volumes, bespoke materials and visual lightness. These elements helped us to create a sculpture that aimed to display a seamless transition between interior and exterior space." Get a better look at the Jaguar artwork in the gallery above, or read through the press release, which follows.

Jaguar Project 7 concept is an F-Type in a D-Type mold [w/video]

Wed, 10 Jul 2013

In addition to the XJR, XFR-S and XKR-S GT models Jaguar is bringing to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, the manufacturer announced that the F-Type-based, D-Type-inspired Project 7 design study will make its "dynamic" debut at the festival, with driving duties assigned to Mike Cross, Jaguar's chief engineer of vehicle integrity. Here's the cool part: With Jaguar's Director of Design, Ian Callum, leading the team responsible for Project 7, it went from the drawing board to track testing in only four months, Jaguar states, with a claimed 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds and top speed of 186 miles per hour.
Project 7, which was named in honor of Jaguar's seven wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be making runs up the hill at Goodwood over all three days of the festival, which starts at the Goodwood House in West Sussex, England, this Friday.
Far from a fragile concept car, Jaguar says, the single-seat Project 7 is a fully functional sports car. It uses the all-aluminum chassis and body of the F-Type, retains that car's 550-horsepower, supercharged 5.0-liter V8 and eight-speed automatic transmission but features lots of bespoke carbon fiber aerodynamic bits, some of which were inspired by the Le Mans-winning D-Type of the 1950s. The most obvious nod to that classic is the rear fairing with integrated rollover hoop - the F-Type's convertible top is gone. The windshield was also lowered, giving the roadster a more rakish silhouette as it sits on 20-inch forged-alloy wheels with carbon fiber inserts.
