For sale is a 1993 Jaguar XJS luxury touring car in authentic original condition. Paul Dean of the LA Times describes it as "prowling, low-heeled and thoroughly seductive." This car spent most of its life in a Florida car buff's collection before coming to Wisconsin, where it was stored rarely driven. This is an absolutely solid car with no sign of rust and the most minimal of blemishes, which are pointed out in the photos and described here. The car starts with no issue whatsoever and drives like a Jag should. And it looks beautiful, right down to the "leaper" hood ornament.

This model is one of the re-invented Jags produced after Ford bought the Brit operation and put a full-court press on quality improvements. Most significant is the engine – a reliable, thrifty 4.0-liter, 24-valve, all-aluminum inline 6 with 4.0 liters gathering 223 horsepower. This is NOT the infamous finicky 12-cylinder engine that has given Jags a bad rap. Again, to quote Paul Dean at the LA Times, "The smaller engine makes for a more agile, better balanced car. Minus six cylinders and 200 pounds of engine metal, the  JS gets off the line a smidge faster than the previous guard and seems just as athletic in higher acceleration ranges. It most certainly is easier on premium unleaded." It does get very good mileage -- originally rated at 17 city, 24 highway.

Body: As stated earlier, no rust whatsoever. As shown in the photos, the paint quality is extremely good - not faded or dulled. There are a total of 3 minor blemishes on the exterior, all on the rear passenger corner. One is a small spot the size of a nickel at the outer corner of the trunk as shown in the photo. The other two blemishes are small "creases" in the metal only seen at an angle. Each is about 4" long, and looks like it was dinged by something small like a shopping cart. The paint is intact.

All chrome is intact and in extremely good condition. There is about a 3/4" piece of rubber guard missing from the chrome on the passenger side door.
All lights and turn signals work fine. Integrated fog lights are stock on this car.

Trunk is immaculate and has a Jaguar 6-disc CD changer.

Tires/Wheels: New Le Mans SR performance tires.

Interior:
Full Connolly leather interior with beautiful burl walnut trim. Has power seats with memories. Driver's seat shows crackling and wear, but no rips. Other seats are in extremely good condition. Back seats look as if they've never been used, and if you know about the size of a Jag's back seat, you know why. Car is equipped with automatic climate control and ice-cold air conditioning. This Jag also has a trip computer and alarm. Non-functioning cruise control. Dash and headliner in excellent condition -- no cracks, no tears. Glove box was lacking a lock mechanism; we've replaced it with a magnet. There is a driver's side air bag.

Mechanicals:
Everything operates as it should. Car has a 4-speed automatic transmission and anti-lock brakes. There are no leaks and it maintains its fluid levels.

This car sold new for $49,750.

Stunning Jaguar E-Type Lightweight tribute featured by Petrolicious

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

This is a Series 1 Jaguar E-Type Coupe. Enzo Ferrari, Il Commendatore himself, called it "the most beautiful car ever made." It can count among its owners Steve McQueen, Brigitte Bardot and a number of other celebrities from the 1960s. It remains one of the prettiest and coolest cars ever.
While we don't normally prescribe to modifying classics like the E-Type, cars that are used for vintage racing, like this particular example, are certainly the exception. It's owned by Jason Len and is the subject of the latest video from the team at Petrolicious.
Len's 1964 E-Type has been fashioned to look like one of the rare Lightweight E-Types from 1963 and 1964. The aluminum-bodied E-Types, of which only a dozen were built, were all intended exclusively for racing, much like Len's heavily modified example. While it retains the 3.8-liter straight-six, its engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and body have been extensively tweaked and fettled to allow this classic Jag to compete with a field of V8s.

Jaguar to expand Jaguar XKR-S GT production run?

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

According to a report in Autocar, demand for the Jaguar XKR-S GT is such that the English company could nearly double production from 30 to 50 cars. Such inflation can often incense those have already put deposits down, worried that they've both been lied to about the potentially diminished values of their cars, but Jaguar has made the announcement barely a day after the XKR-S GT was revealed and 50 still isn't that many vehicles.
Nothing in the Autocar report indicates the additional examples will not come to America, making the 500-horsepower superfast coupe a treat we can still call all our own. Jaguar didn't add horsepower but instead honed other aspects of the car to produce a GT that can lap the 'Ring nearly as quickly as a Ferrari 458 Italia, and the world should be the beneficiary, the company's brand director saying, "The real beauty of this project has been that it has extended our understanding of the elements involved in making a car go so fast, and that will feed back into all our road car programs." Sounds good to us.

2016 Jaguar XE is ready to stalk the competition

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The XE wears some of the best styling elements from Jaguar's current litter.
Big sedans and sports cars. Jaguar has been known for those two things since the company's name was birthed in 1945. Stylish saloons like the Mark 2 and performance machines like the E-Type make up the brand's heritage, but the compact sedan market is one where the British marque has lacked great product.
