This is an inexpensive way to have a fun car.  I bought it in 2010 for just that reason.

The exterior looks decent, not perfect (shiney on the sides, a little dull on the top surfaces), but very little rust.  The car originally came from Palm Springs, CA.  and has only been driven in the summer and stored in the winter since living in Michigan.

The leather interior is in good condition.  The front seats are clean and free of tears, the rear is coming unstiched, but the leather is in good condition.  The side trim looks good.  The dash pad is cracked in two places but still looks ok.  The wood trim on the dash is covered with a carbon fiber-look overlay.  The carpet is out of the car so you can see the floor but is still in good condition.  the headliner is in good condition as is the glass in the car.

The wheels are Weld Stars, from the 1990's, very unique.  Good rubber.  The original brakes stop the car fine. The original suspension is in good working order.

The Chevy 305 with tuned port injection came from a 1985 Camaro IROC and was installed using a kit from John's Cars, Dallas, TX.  I have no idea how many miles it has on it.  It puffs a little oil on start up so it probablly needs valve stem seals but still runs strong and sounds good.  The GM 700R4 trans shifts smooth through the original Jag shifter and makes this car an economical highway cruiser.

The exhaust flows through stock mufflers minus the rear resonators which have been replaced with some 3" stainless tips.  Much better than the 1 3/4" stock exhaust, really sounds sweet.

The radiator is cooled by electric fan which is currently hard-wired "on".       Just needs a new thermal switch.

The car has A/C but needs a new compressor, clutch, and receiver drier to operate again.

If you are looking for something you can drive right now as you fix the little stuff, this is an awesome deal for the money.

This is a used car with no warranties or guarantees implied.  You should come look before you bid to be sure the car is what you expect.  I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car anywhere.

Jaguar XK and F-Type meet for final sibling faceoff

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

There's nothing that real, dyed-in-the-wool car geeks love so much as to say "Old Car X is actually a lot better than New Car Y." For reasons that defy both logic and science, we all (your author included) are able to, almost simultaneously, bitch about needed advancements in current vehicles and then bemoan character lost in the next crop.
Mitsubishi Evo models have been supremely prone to this bifurcation of opinion in recent years (ask an Evo IX fanboy about the Evo X sometime... ), and performance cars wearing WRX, Mustang, and M3 badges have been deeply subject to it, as well.
The Jaguar XK and F-Type are not exactly in the same one-model, generational-changeover form as those mentioned above, but that doesn't mean that there aren't defenders of both the old dog and the new joint. Autocar seeks the truth of the matter in this new video, and we're just happy to come along for the ride. May the best sib win.

Jaguar envisions future without V8 engines

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

With tighter emissions and fuel economy regulations looming, Jaguar may have to do more than make a small, fuel-efficient hatchback to lower its model range's consumption figures - it also might give up its venerable V8 power, Drive reports. But not anytime soon, says Steven de Ploey, Jaguar's product and marketing director, who recognizes that the V8 can be replaced only by something that offers the same, or better, performance. But he has a word of caution: "We are not wedded to V8s."
In the meantime, de Ploey says there are other ways to reduce emissions. One of the first steps Jaguar could take is to shift away from the use of superchargers, which aren't as good as turbochargers at maintaining efficiency and making power. But he adds that supercharging still is "at the heart of Jaguar's performance proposition," and that the company has addressed the current downsizing trend by "replacing our naturally aspirated V8 with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6."
Consider one of de Ploey's comments on the cancelled C-X75 supercar (pictured) for some clue about Jaguar's future: "Some of the stuff we have already exploited to the extreme in the C-X75 is the kind of thinking for us and is an essential test bed to see how we could evolve from today to something that is sustainable in the future."

Jaguar C-X17 gets liquid metal finish for Dubai show [w/poll]

Sat, 09 Nov 2013

We thought the C-X17 concept looked pretty good when Jaguar unveiled it in Frankfurt a couple of months ago. But that shade of blue, while nice enough, made it look like it shared more than a similar name with the Mazda CX-7. No, what a Jaguar needs is a more luxurious paint job than electric blue. And that's just what the British automaker has given its crossover concept in time for the Dubai Motor Show this week.
What we have here is the same C-X17, but repainted in what Jaguar calls "a lustrous Liquid Aluminum liquid metal finish," and we have but to agree. What do you think? Scope it out in the fresh batch of high-res images above and cast your vote in the poll below.
