Up for auction is this very nice example of a 1952 XK120 Drop Head Coupe.  It  has been in Washington State most of it's life.   The body on the car is outstanding, I can not find any rust on the car at all.  I don't see any signs that the car has been in an accident.  The car even has the original sills and shut posts.  The frame is in mint condition, which is hard to find on a car this old.  A paint job was given to the car about 20-30 years ago, and the paint has held up well.   The chrome on the car is very respectable.  The soft top is missing, but the soft top frame is intact, so  it just needs a new top..   The chrome on the car is very respectable.  The interior overall is in very good condition, even the seats are very useable.  The gauges are all intact.  There were modifications made on the car years ago.  Some wood on the dash and doors was taken off and for some reason the windows were taken out as well, and of course have gone missing.  The car runs and drives very nicely.    It starts right up and you literally could drive this car home.  The lights and the horn work correctly.  The brakes are right at the top and function as they should.  The Moss gearbox shifts smoothly.   This XK120 Drop Head Coupe is a lot of car for the money.   What a great value for a  running and driving XK120, whose top goes down.   If you have any questions please email or call Ray at 01-617-838-3728 or Dan at 01-781-630-0185.

David Brown Automotive launches old-is-new-again Speedback [w/video]

Thu, 27 Mar 2014

Back in January, we reported on a new British coachbuilder called David Brown Automotive. In February, the startup released the first details and images of its inaugural project, and now it has revealed the finished product.
It's called Speedback, and it's based on the Jaguar XKR. But while it's built on a modern chassis (relatively, anyway - the XK arrived in 2006 and is soon to be discontinued), it's been rebodied to look like a classic British GT. That means that, while it may look like a classic Aston Martin, it's got a thoroughly modern 5.0-liter supercharged V8 under the hood with over 500 horsepower on tap.
Otherwise, little in the way of details have been disclosed - including what you can bet will be an astronomic price that tends to come with these sorts of coachbuilt customs. But the important parts are what you can see, and that means the finest British craftsmanship inside and out. Whether you like the particular style or not, of course, is entirely a matter of taste.

Jaguar XK and F-Type meet for final sibling faceoff

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

There's nothing that real, dyed-in-the-wool car geeks love so much as to say "Old Car X is actually a lot better than New Car Y." For reasons that defy both logic and science, we all (your author included) are able to, almost simultaneously, bitch about needed advancements in current vehicles and then bemoan character lost in the next crop.
Mitsubishi Evo models have been supremely prone to this bifurcation of opinion in recent years (ask an Evo IX fanboy about the Evo X sometime... ), and performance cars wearing WRX, Mustang, and M3 badges have been deeply subject to it, as well.
The Jaguar XK and F-Type are not exactly in the same one-model, generational-changeover form as those mentioned above, but that doesn't mean that there aren't defenders of both the old dog and the new joint. Autocar seeks the truth of the matter in this new video, and we're just happy to come along for the ride. May the best sib win.

2016 Jaguar XF mule spied in Germany

Wed, 30 Oct 2013

From our best guess, the Jaguar test mule shown in these spy shots could very well be our first glimpse at the next-generation Jaguar XF, due out around the 2016 model year. The current XF has been around for five years already (launched in 2008), and this mule is likely testing powertrain or chassis components for a new version of the midsize Jaguar sedan.
With what seems to be a stretched wheelbase and wider track, this is almost certainly not a mule for the 3 Series-fighting Jaguar XS. That being said, though, there is also the outside chance that this could be a mule for other future Jaguar Land Rover products including a production version of the Jaguar C-X17 crossover or the Jaguar-based Range Rover Grand Evoque. Only time will tell what these images truly foretell, but if nothing else, it proves that Jaguar is definitely staying busy these days.
