1959 Jaguar Xk150 Base 3.4l on 2040-cars
Hayward, California, United States
You are bidding on an exceptional 1959 Jaguar XK150 DHC, white with red leather, with only 53,957 original miles. It has the original California black license plates. My family is the second owner, having bought it from the original owner in 2000. It was not our intention to ever sell this car, but circumstances change. It is in extremely good and mostly original condition. It is a very unique vehicle in that is does not have overdrive. That is the way it was originally sold. It runs fantastic with no problems. It has a sport exhaust of the era, and sounds absolutely fantastic. I feel comfortable driving it anywhere. It is one of those rare cars that just drives like designed. Since we bought it, we have rebuilt the wire wheels, put Vredestein tires on it, rebuilt the generator, replaced the fuel pump, changed the batteries to gell cells, replaced the leather seats, replaced the top, rebuilt the carburetors, (all the usual British stuff) and probably other things, but generally not much really for owning a 56 year old car for the past 14 years. It has extremely "good bones." It has always been a California car, sold originally by E.F. Sweeney British Cars in San Rafael, CA. We bought it out of the original owner’s garage in Eureka California. All panels and paint look to be original. There is minor pitting on some chrome, but nothing real bad (see pictures). There is absolutely no rust. We had all the original selling documents but they got tossed out during one year’s spring cleaning. I still have an older California registration from the previous owner. Feel free to contact me with any questions. |

Has the Jaguar XKR-S Sportbrake leaked out early?
Sun, 23 Feb 2014Want to haul ass down the Autobahn with the whole family and all their gear in tow? Forget that Porsche Cayenne or Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 - what you'll want is a power wagon: something like an Audi RS6 Avant or Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Estate. Unfortunately there are precious few of these performance station wagons on the market anywhere, especially with American offerings like the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon on its way out and the Dodge Magnum SRT8 long gone. But there's a new challenger emerging.
That'd be the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake, a hi-po estate from Coventry that's been a long time in the making. And now it's apparently almost here. (Only by "here," we mean "there," as it's not likely ever to come to the United States.)
Apparently set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show is a Frankenstein-style cross between a Jaguar XF Sportbrake and XFR-S performance sedan, taking the best elements from both. From the former, that means the extended roofline that gives it the cargo capacity of a small crossover. From the former, that means a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 producing 542 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Which is hotter, Lana Del Rey or the Jaguar F-Type?
Fri, 15 Feb 2013Lana Del Rey's "Burning Desire" video, the first musical collaboration between Jaguar and its hired songstress, is half music video, half long-form lifestyle commercial for the 2014 F-Type. If you like Del Rey channeling glamorous fifties fame as she lays down vocals of sensuous, languid dolor over images of black-and-white yesteryears, you'll like this song off of her new EP, Paradise.
We think the appearance of a red and brand-new Jaguar, though, is incongruous - either Del Rey or Jaguar is the anachronism, take your pic. That's not to say it's not beautiful, however, so enjoy the combination in the video below.
Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience throws you the keys to the museum
Thu, 16 Oct 2014As automotive journalists, we get to drive a lot of really cool, high-performance vehicles. It really is the single best thing about this job. However, our access to vehicles is generally limited to the newest offerings on the market. That means, much like the general public, we don't really get access to vintage iron.
Jaguar is trying to rectify that issue for journalist and enthusiast alike, with a new program called the Heritage Driving Experience. It allows British enthusiasts to pop into the brand's Warwickshire testing site, drop anywhere from 100 to 300 pounds ($160 to $480) and go for a spin in some of the brand's most legendary offerings. That includes the more typical classics, like the Mark 2 saloon and the E-Type sports car, but you can also pay for access to stunners like the XK150, XKSS and the race-spec D-Type. In addition to the classics, most of the tests include time in their modern successors. So an hour with the Mark II can be split with time in an XFR-S, while the E-Type is complemented by its spiritual successor, the F-Type.
Most of the events are limited to 30 or 60-minute sessions, although the brand does offer a half-day and full-day event. The former, the Jaguar Le Mans Experience, includes time in the C-Type, D-Type, XKSS and F-Type R. The full-day Grace and Pace Pack, meanwhile, gives you access to nine vehicles, covering a huge gamut. That means time in the C-, D- and E-Type, XK150, Mark II, XKR-S GT and F-Type R, among others. Not surprisingly, prices aren't listed for the half- and full-day pack. Much like Jag's finest cars, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford them.
