Lots of pictures below!

This lovely 2001 XKR, is the supercharged version of the XK8, which means it has 370hp instead of 290hp.  It is Regent Gray with Oatmeal interior and it’s a local (Los Angeles area) 2-owner car.  Very sexy and stylish, with a distinguished color combination.  They don’t make them like this anymore, and the XKR’s are soon to be classics.  Prices for these models have already started to climb.

It looks runs, and drives great.  AC blows cold, and the suspension is very tight with no creaks or cracks or clunks or thunks when you hit a bump.  The convertible top is in very good condition, it goes up and down without a hitch.  With the top up it is a serene driving experience.  With the top down, it’s an absolute joy.  No leaks.  Very good condition overall with under 93,000 miles.

Cosmetically, the leather seats show some wear and the font bumper cover (nose piece) has some pitting There is a scratch about 6” long on the right rear quarter above the wheel, some nicks on the passenger door edge and also on the left rear quarter. The wheels have curb rash. You have to get close to see these flaws, and I have tried to include photos of them.  The reserve has been set accordingly.

This car would make a great driver as-is, or it would be an easy fix-up to put it in excellent condition.

It comes with one key and one remote.  No manuals, but you can download them for free.

If you have any questions or would like to see pictures of anything I didn't include, just let me know.  I can help with domestic or international shipping, at your expense, of course.  The car is available for inspection, but by appointment.  I'm not always around.  You can call me at the number below.

Payment:  If you want to take the car immediately, I require cash or wire transfer.  If you want to wait for it to clear, I will take a cashier's check.  The bank can hold a cashier's check for up to 10 business days.  A $500 deposit is required within 48 hours after the end of the auction.  You can use paypal.

California residents must add 8% Sales Tax to the final purchase amount.

This Car is Sold AS-IS

Highlights from the Goodwood Festival of Speed, including the McLaren P1 and a Ford Transit running the hill

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

The sole purpose of this post is as a time-waster, and since you shouldn't have to work to waste time, we've done it for you. In the numerous videos below you'll find cars that have lately been in the news tramping all over the grounds of Lord March's estate in Goodwood, England.
There's the McLaren P1 heading up the hill, the Jaguar Project 7, then a casually-driven Porsche 917 followed by an even-more-casually-driven Porsche 956, topped off by a Porsche 936 that is anything but casually driven. The next round is the flame-spitting Peugeot 405 T16 Pikes Peak from Climb Dance, a camera mounted on the Peugeot RCZ R after it showing you what the whole, uninterrupted run up the hill looks like. For a real head-turner, we couldn't embed it but there's Andy Reid blasting up the hill in a Ford Transit Supervan with a Cosworth 3000 V6 engine.
The modern racing contingent has Allan McNish doing the hill in the Audi R18 e-tron quattro he used to win Le Mans and Lewis Hamilton making lots of tire smoke in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas MGP-W02. For comparison, that's followed by Nick Heidfeld's record-setting run up the hill in 1999 in the McLaren MP4/14 . The classic racing contingent is headlined by 71-year-old Giacomo Agostini on an MV Agusta.

Jaguar Project 7 Concept

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

The Jaguar Project 7 Concept debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed just last month. But unlike most concepts, which serve only to collect fingerprints on a stage, the track-ready one-seater spent its days barreling past the hillclimb crowds with Mike Cross, chief engineer of vehicle integrity at Jaguar, beaming behind its right-hand-drive steering wheel. What's more, the powers that be at Jaguar even let yours truly drive the Project 7 during the Concurs d'Elegance festivities at Pebble Beach last week.
Built on an all-aluminum V8 F-Type chassis with modified suspension, the Project 7 (a name acknowledging Jaguar's seven Le Mans wins between 1951-1990) is best thought of as an F-Type masquerading as a D-Type. The two-door is fitted with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 good for 550 horsepower (no pictures as Jaguar wouldn't allow us to open the hood). An eight-speed automatic, with a torque converter, sends the power the rear wheels, allowing the single-seat roadster to crack the 60-mph benchmark in just over four seconds.
Modifications to the bodywork include a new lowered windshield, carbon-fiber aerodynamics and a rear fairing with integrated rollover hoop. The driving position has also been lowered by more than an inch, allowing the sole occupant to not only escape the airflow, but take advantage of a lower center of gravity.

Take a trip down Jaguar's memory lane with Xcar

Sat, 19 Jul 2014

For decades, Jaguar has been a company of two minds. On one hand, there are its luxurious, British saloon cars. They might be quick, even sporty, but when it comes down to it, they usually put a focus on comfort and accommodations above all. On the other hand, Jag has its sports cars to really get its buyers' blood pumping. Think about it: the XJ might look pretty sweet, but you know deep down that you would rather take the F-Type for a spirited drive, reveling in its snorty exhaust note. In its latest video, Xcar Films takes us on a very enjoyable history lesson covering some of the Brit brand's most exciting models ever.
Xcar hits all of the highlights, starting with the often-overlooked C-Type from early '50s with its somewhat bulbous shape. Things then progress to the drop-dead gorgeous D-Type. The one in this video is actually the first ever made and therefore worth a fortune. Because of that, the host isn't really able to get too aggressive, but it's fantastic to get an idea of what it's like to experience being behind the wheel of this icon. Finally, it ends with a Series 1 E-Type. This was when the classic model was still something of a sports car; instead of the grand tourer that the E-Type became in its later days.
All three of these cars are legends in their own right, and maybe one day the F-Type could be too. Scroll down for a history lesson on some of Jaguar's best sports cars.
