1965 Kaiser Jeep Cj5 Willys on 2040-cars

Year:1965 Mileage:38090
Location:

Berkley, Michigan, United States

Berkley, Michigan, United States

1965 CJ5 Jeep. 4 cylinder Hurricane  F4 - 134 cu in engine. 3 lever 4x4. Jeep has 1978 front and rear axles ( 3.54 - 1 ratio ) with front disc brakes and Warn hubs. This great swap makes the Jeep much more road friendly. Roll bar, plastic fuel tank. Transmission has been rebuilt with receipts. New : clutch, Smittybuilt seats, bikini top, rear springs, electric wipers. Tires and brakes are recent. Under dash gauges with mini tach. All lights work as they should, turn signals require turning off by hand. Speedometer is inop, but odometer works. Emergency brake works. Gas gauge sometimes hangs up. The CJ5 went thru an amateur restoration over the past couple of years by a retired gentleman that I recently purchased from. The lid to the tool box under passenger bucket has had a lock added, which was a great idea. The pans were replaced, with new steel being stitch welded in. This was done nicely. Nice fabricated steps. The tub and frame are solid. The paint is simply driver quality but fresh, respectable enough yet can enjoy without worrying about damage. Runs very good, might benefit from a carb rebuild but runs fine. Under the hood is pretty much original and very sanitary. I bought this for my wife and I to use up at our cottage for running around town / beach. I should have taken my wife with me when checking the CJ out. She has had knee replacements and can not get up and in as well as out comfortably so it is being resold. This is the ONLY reason for selling. Affordable fun, for a solid, respectable, mechanically sound vintage CJ5. Comes with an original owners manual as well as a Chilton repair manual.

I am extremely honest when selling a vehicle, and my feedback reflects this. The Jeeps reserve is exactly what I paid. Pictures to be posted later today.

Payment to be made by paypal or in person with cash only. 72 hrs for paypal payment. 5 days for in person cash payment.

Shipping would be the sellers responsibility both cost and arranging, but I will assist with the pickup of the CJ5.

I have the Jeep for sale locally as well, so reserve the right to end auction if early if need be.

On Jul-23-14 at 13:31:25 PDT, seller added the following information:

The CJ5 only comes with the new Bestop brand Bikini top. There is no full soft or hard top or doors. What you see in the pictures plus owners manual and a repair manual. Also have 2 new oil filters.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

There will forever be a soft spot in my heart for the Jeep Wrangler. The last one I owned was red, and, as a 1990 model, had the square headlights derided by Jeep enthusiasts who grew up on the Civilian Jeeps that descended from their General Purpose military ancestors. As a teenager, I couldn't have cared less what shape its headlights happened to be - to me, a Jeep Wrangler represented freedom; a carefree do-it-all machine equally at home with the top stowed away in the summer or with the heater on full blast in the snowy clutches of Old Man Winter. In Dr. Seuss parlance, my square-headlighted Sneetch was just as worthy as any round-headlighted Sneetch.
All that said, I'll be the first person to advise against buying a Jeep Wrangler of any sort for owners who don't plan to use it as its makers intend. There's no good reason to punish yourself with a stiff and springy ride, a loud and somewhat drafty (though generally water-resistant) interior or the poor fuel economy expected of a block-shaped vehicle if you don't enjoy its other, more exciting benefits.
Of course, Jeep has done its darndest over the years to make the Wrangler as civilized as possible while keeping it as capable as federal law will allow. The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab edition is one of Jeep's latest attempts to attract attention from the upper reaches of the active lifestyle set, and I spent a week with one to see what makes the Moab special.

Chrysler recalls 2013 Ram pickups, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Wed, 17 Jul 2013

Chrysler's spate of successful products is about to be marred by a trio of recalls. The Pentastar is recalling 51,477 Ram trucks and Jeep SUVs. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there have been no reported accidents, injuries or deaths related to the affected vehicles.
The largest action covers the Ram 1500, which is seeing 45,961 trucks being recalled. Models built between June 26, 2012 and February 5, 2013 are being recalled due to a potential software issue in the electronic stability control. Apparently, the system can be randomly deactivated upon vehicle startup.
Chrysler is also recalling 4,458 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Covering everything but the SRT models, the potentially defective SUVs were built between January 14 and March 20, 2013. This recall focuses on "premium headlights," which means cars equipped with LED running lights. During the switch from the bright daytime running lamp setting to the low-intensity parking light setting, an electrical spike can cause one of the Jeep's computers to go into a safe mode, turning off the LEDs. This violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

NHTSA investigating why Jeep recall fix is taking so long

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

Jeep's saga with the National Traffic Safety Administration and the voluntary campaign to repair 1.56 million vehicles for allegedly unsafe trailer hitches, is getting yet another chapter. The controversy appeared to finally be over in January when the automaker found a supplier for the replacement parts. Nothing is ever that easy, though, and the government regulator is now requesting documents from the company to clarify why the repairs are taking so long to begin.
Jeep parent company Chrysler has until July 16 to submit documents and answers to NHTSA explaining the situation. The regulator claims that despite its compromise to inspect and repair the models with improper hitches in June 2013, Chrysler didn't find a part supplier until December and didn't order the replacements until January. The government agency believes that the first components weren't manufactured until May of this year and vehicles may not actually be repaired until as late as August. According to the report, if the Chrysler doesn't supply what NHTSA is asking for, the agency could "take additional appropriate action as warranted."
Throughout this entire process, Chrysler has asserted that the vehicles met the applicable crash test standards of the time, and it has kept NHTSA abreast of the repair activity. In a recently released statement it said that the regulator analyzed eight rear impact reconstruction tests and found the replacement hitch to be safe. To keep up with the high demand for replacements, Chrysler is working with multiple suppliers, and they are running three shifts, six days a week to get the parts ready as soon as possible.
