The GOOD! This is a restored 1976 CJ5 with the AMC 401 that has plenty of power and then some, 3 speed T150 transmission, Dana 20 transfer case, Dana 30 front differential and a AMC 20 rear. This is a 2 year old restoration that still looks great!!! The pictures does not do the High Performance Red paint justice. The 401 cubic inch motor came out of a 1977 Grand Cherokee with 78000 mile on it. Has had new gasket set installed along with a new water pump, new factory AMC 600 Holley, K&N breather and filter, new radiator and fluid. The drivetrain works excellent with new Superior 1 piece axles, 4.11 gears and posi unit in the rear and a new clutch set. New dual exhaust from the manifolds back with flowmaster mufflers, 4 inch lift with new Skyjacker shocks. All of the exterior hardware has been replaced with stainless, hinges latches, tail lights, side marker lights etc...New fenders and tailgate, new fender flares. The tub has been Rhino line and not the cheap stuff either. I have a New Best top and doors in the box along with a new Best bikini top that's never been on the Jeep since it's garage kept. The tires are Yokahama Geolander AT-S with less than 500 miles on them The speedometer head was replaced when I bought the Jeep that's why I specified 7650 mile. Over $12000 invested with myself doing a lot of the work. The BAD. The windshield is fogged a little around the edges, small place in the paint that is hardly noticeable and a ever so small tansmission drip about the size of a dime after driving it. 2014 Jeep Cherokee facing production delay
Fri, 17 May 2013Jeep's bold-faced new direction spearheaded by the 2014 Cherokee is facing some teething issues. According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, production start-up of the controversial new utility vehicle at its Toledo North facility is running about a month behind schedule "due to a wide range of issues." That's according to Mark Chernoby, senior vice president of engineering at Chrysler.
Chernoby maintains that the issues being encountered aren't unusual for the launch of a new vehicle - particularly one with a new powertrain - and he downplayed the delay, telling Jeep dealers that they "will have ample inventory of the midsize SUV by fall." Among the kinks being worked out? Calibrating the Cherokee's cutting-edge ZF nine-speed automatic transmission and refining assembly line tasks to make the process more efficient.
Chrysler expects to start building retail-ready versions of the Cherokee around mid-June, with official sales slated to start in September.
Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango to lose color options temporarily
Wed, 19 Nov 2014In the market for a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango? Well, if you fancy a more expressive color for your new SUV, you'd better get your order in, or plan on waiting until well into 2015.
The SUVs will be limited to just four monochromatic shades - black, white, silver and gray - until at least February, thanks to an upgrade to the paint shop at the two vehicles' Jefferson North factory. For the Grand Cherokee, that means it's losing more than half its color palette while the Durango is dropping two-thirds of its color catalog.
The loss of colors is inconvenient, but the upgrade will have a slightly bigger effect on the overall supply of SUVs, as Chrysler will need to end its relentless build pace at the factory for a three-week shutdown starting on December 22. The good news for fans of the SUVs is that once the work is completed, we should see a gradual expansion of the color palettes for both the Durango and Grand Cherokee, beyond even what's offered now.
Chrysler recalling nearly 141k vehicles over electrical woes
Wed, 02 Oct 2013Software glitches that randomly illuminate warning lights and cause instrument cluster blackouts are forcing Chrysler to recall 140,800 vehicles, The Detroit News reports. The automaker is recalling 132,000 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees, 91,559 of which are in the US. In addition to the Jeep recalls, Chrysler is adding 10,800 2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks to the list for similar problems.
Chrysler reportedly says, "Both events occurred infrequently and appeared to resolve themselves by tuning the vehicle's ignition off and then on."
Engineers discovered a problem with the anti-lock-braking system software that causes the instrument cluster display of the Grand Cherokee to illuminate warning lights and black out - even its ABS and electronic stability control systems are affected. To fix the Jeeps, Chrysler will update the vehicle's software.
