For sale is a 1976 Jeep CJ7.  '76 was the first year for the CJ7. It comes with a hard top and hard doors as well as a brand new Best Top bikini. It was recently purchased from the original owner for my, soon to be 16 year old, daughter. It has less than 40,000 original miles. It was purchased from the original owner that did a body-off restoration about 10 years ago. Since purchased, I've added, new Falken Rocky Mountain 12X32X15 tires, pulled the gas tank and had it cleaned and replaced the fuel sensor/float mechanism, oil pressure sender, speedo cable, radiator, front tie rod ends, including adjuster bar and pitman sleeve. I ialso installed driver AND passenger cam-lock, four point restraints, put down bed-liner on the interior, replaced all of the drain plugs and replaced the tired dashboard knobs with billet aluminum ones. I also purchased a nice set of Jeep logo'd floor and cargo mats. It's not a show car, but a clean 37 year old Jeep. It has the original 304 V8 engine matched to a 3 speed manual transmission. Having been owned by a hot rod guy, it came with headers which need to be replaced. The parts are $245 delivered. If I replace them, the price joins the rest of the restored CJ's listed. Everything works as it should. The Jeep has black diamond plate rocker guards, but I took most of the photo's before they were installed so that you could see that I'm not hiding rocker rot so common in these trucks.  I purchased the Jeep for $9000 and have put $2700 into it since. Jeep vetoed by wife that insists on airbags and ABS brakes...she's right as usual.  I MUST SELL THIS JEEP!  My loss is your gain. Call or text Mark @ 301-655-9247. Scammers will be run over with a Jeep, so avoid that.  Listed elsewhere, I just dropped the price an additional $1500.  There is not another '76 CJ7 in this condition for this money anywhere.  Local sale only, will not ship!

2014 Jeep Cherokee configurator up and running

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

Production delays aside, Jeep is steaming towards its September on-sale date for the 2014 Cherokee. The reborn midsizer's configurator has just gone live, meaning you can fiddle with different options, colors and trim levels to your heart's content.
The cheapest model available is the 4X2 Sport, which starts at a reasonable $22,995. On the high end, the Cherokee's builder allowed us to indulge our passion for ludicrously priced vehicles by outfitting the top-end Trailhawk, which already starts at $29,495, with $8,610 in options. The resulting car, which you can see above, would retail for $39,100 after the $995 destination is factored in.
Head on over to Jeep's build-it-yourself website and have a look around.

Jeep Cherokee won't get diesel until sales of oil-burning Grand Cherokee improve

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

Okay Jeep fans, you want more diesel options? Time to step up and prove it. The only way Jeep will offer a diesel powerplant in the Cherokee, according to brand head Mike Manley, is if sales of the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel nearly double.
Currently, about eight percent of the Grand Cherokees sold feature the 3.0-liter, EcoDiesel V6. That's simply not enough to warrant the bringing an oil-burning Cherokee to the US market, despite the vehicle's presence in Europe, where it's sold with a 2.8-liter diesel V6.
"Cherokee is slightly different because of its weight and size. When I think about bringing Cherokee diesel here, I would like to see Grand Cherokee diesel get much higher than eight percent," Manley told Automotive News. "It would have to be in mid-double digits."

Jeep hiring 1,000 part-time workers in Toledo on Wrangler, Cherokee demand

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

The new Jeep Cherokee has been quite a success for Chrysler, but its factory workers are getting tired. The automaker has agreed to hire up to 1,000 part-time, temporary employees at its Toledo Assembly Complex where the CUV and Wrangler are built. It will allow the company to keep Jeep production moving, while giving laborers a break.
According to plant manager Chuck Padden in the Toledo Blade, full-time workers are regularly taking on 60 hours a week, and it's beginning to wear on them. "To get them more time off is important to us, to make sure they're refreshed, and can work safely," said Padden.
Chrysler has already hired 380 temporary, part-time workers for the plant, and 50 have been converted to full-time employees. The company is in the process of interviewing the rest of the new hires now and plans to have all 1,000 in place by the summer. They will work between 10 and 30 hours a week mostly on weekends for $15.78 per hour with limited benefits. The temporary positions will last "as long as demand continues for the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee," said Jodi Tinson, Chrysler spokesperson for manufacturing and labor communications, to Autoblog in an email.
