So your looking for a Jeep. What can I tell you about mine so you buy it? Well, for one are you worth selling to? Just by looking at the pictures you already know if this is something you can handle. For most people I would say no, you probably can't handle this. Stop reading now! Go back to your creature comforts, your heated seats, and your Onstar. This is not for you.
This is a Jeep for the man with soul. The man that thinks imports should be deports and American should be the standard in America. This is American! In fact the motor is a AMC 304 V8. (American Motor Corporation). Can't be more American then that. If your afraid of some rust this is probably not for you. This Jeep has been rolling through rain sleet sand mud and snow since 1978 and it still rolls on her 33" commuter crushers like a champ. If you plan on only using it to go to the local Starbucks save yourself the grief from me telling you to go kick rocks. This isn't the vehicle to put Weathertec floor mats in. What are you keeping clean? Dirty is the concern of weaker men. This baby is Rhino lined through out the cab with drain holes in the floor. Mud or blood. Just wash it out. When your bleeding blasting through some remote Baja mountains being chased by bandits because you just slept with the local drug lords daughter you haven't got time to kick the dirt off your heels before getting in. Drive through the carwash with the top down later preferably in the US so Montezuma stays in Mexico. I digress. I think you get the point. Soul my friends. Save the fear for when your in bumper to bumper traffic in your Prius going to your cubical just to do it again the next day. Now to give you the bad news so I don't have to answer all the questions about whats wrong with her. Nothing! I like her just the way she is. But for those who think a 1978 CJ7 should be perfect because its been sitting in a vacuum for the last 35 years, here you go. I don't want to sell to you anyway. She has a dent in the hood because at 50 miles a hour the hood flew up and smacked me in the face from wind. Note to self double check the latches after changing the oil. Gauges need replacing. I ride with a spare gas can anyway. They don't have Exxon out on the trail. The wiper motor needs replacing. Just put the windshield down and wear some googles and stop being fufu. You want her to respect you in the morning don't you. She is sold as is. There will be no: "I didn't know about this or that." You got questions I got answers. Well thats about it. Jeep sets all-time sales record in 2012
Wed, 09 Jan 2013Last year was good to Jeep. Chrysler has announced its trail-rated brand set an all-time global sales record in 2012 by moving 701,626 units. That number easily surpasses the previous record set in 1999 when Jeep sold 675,494 models. All told, the brand saw a 19-percent sales increase worldwide over 2011, and much of that swell can be traced directly to the Wrangler. While the Grand Cherokee led Jeep sales, the Wrangler posted record numbers both globally and within the US, moving 194,142 and 141,669 units in each market, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Compass beat its previous global sales record with 103,321 units rolling off of dealer lots. In the US, Jeep sold 62,010 Patriot units, breaking that model's previous record as well. Jeep's impressive performance in 2012 marks the second year in a row the brand has seen double-digit percentage sales increases. Check out the full press release below.
Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango to lose color options temporarily
Wed, 19 Nov 2014In the market for a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango? Well, if you fancy a more expressive color for your new SUV, you'd better get your order in, or plan on waiting until well into 2015.
The SUVs will be limited to just four monochromatic shades - black, white, silver and gray - until at least February, thanks to an upgrade to the paint shop at the two vehicles' Jefferson North factory. For the Grand Cherokee, that means it's losing more than half its color palette while the Durango is dropping two-thirds of its color catalog.
The loss of colors is inconvenient, but the upgrade will have a slightly bigger effect on the overall supply of SUVs, as Chrysler will need to end its relentless build pace at the factory for a three-week shutdown starting on December 22. The good news for fans of the SUVs is that once the work is completed, we should see a gradual expansion of the color palettes for both the Durango and Grand Cherokee, beyond even what's offered now.
Chrysler delays 2014 Jeep Cherokee media launch
Tue, 30 Jul 2013Chrysler is making the unusual move of delaying the first media drives of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which were slated to start next week in Seattle. And while something like this is a rare occurrence, and one that most of the Autoblog staff can't recall happening this publicly or so close to the event itself, it won't effect the actual on-sale date of the new Cherokee, which is set to hit showrooms in September.
"Over the last couple of weeks during final quality and durability testing, we have discovered the opportunity to further improve powertrain calibration," Chrysler told Automotive News. This marks the second notable delay in the Cherokee's short life, after production was delayed for roughly a month earlier this summer.
Still, we'd rather Chrysler make sure the Cherokee is ready for primetime before flying media in from around the country. It shows a willingness to get things right the first time, rather than offering media drives and then tweaking the car after the fact.
