Up for sale is this beautiful 1979 Jeep cj5 !!!! This is a stunning Jeep that turns heads and feels great when driving it. It has a 304 amc engine (not rebuilt) that is nicely detailed in chrome with new Accel wires, New fuel pump, MSD ignition, Headers with true dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers!! This jeep sounds aggressive going down the road. The transmission is a synchronized 3 speed (standard). This Jeep runs and drives, but is not a fully restored Jeep. The exterior of this beast is the best looking of all. It has a beautiful green color in real good shape for its age. It looks pretty close to the green color used in the newer Jeeps of today. I get tons of compliments for the color ! This Jeep has a new soft top and doors made by Best Top. It also comes with a bikini top as well. Both the front and rear bumpers are new Smitty Built bumpers. They look great on this Jeep ! It also has a 4 inch lift with 33 inch Pro Comp tires and Mickey Thompson classic rims. This gives the Jeep an over-all mean looking stance. The window frame gaskets and windshield gaskets were also replaced. The hood hinges and vent were chromed and look great as well. Along the sides of the Jeep are diamond plate. All of these details make this jeep stand out from the others. The interior of the jeep is just as great looking as the outside. It has Best Top seats, Aluminum knobs, Chromed handle bar and diamond plate frame. It also has a new Dual Ipod ready stereo. What more could you ask for? The under carriage of this Jeep is in exceptional condition for the year. Most jeeps this year are rusted so bad that you would spend thousands of dollars repairing the floor. This Jeep only has 2 small rust spots that I could find as big as a golf ball. All in all this is a great price for a weekend warrior !!! All it needs is a few details like turn signals, wipers, ect. It is quite drivable and feels very solid. You are more than welcome to have Ebay inspect the vehicle. Any questions or concerns can be answered by calling 915-630-2034. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due upfront. This vehicle is sold in as is condition with no warranty or refund. I am selling this Jeep locally and I can end this listing when it is sold. You cannot build a classic Jeep like this one for what I am asking for mine. These Jeeps are sought after and are hot ! Thank you for looking and good luck !

NHTSA boss Strickland weighs in on Jeep recall fracas

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

Adding yet another chapter to the ongoing Jeep recall story, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) head David Strickland has gone on record to defend the government's request that Chrysler recall 2.7 million out-of-production Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Liberty vehicles after the agency investigated fiery rear-end collisions that have reportedly killed at least 51 people over the years. In statements made to The Detroit News, Strickland said, "We felt very strongly that the process that we undertook and the findings that we made and ... we made the decision to issue a recall request. We do not take that very lightly." The top US auto safety regulator stopped short of telling owners to park their cars until the automaker takes action. "They can make their own risk assessment and their own choices," he said.
Chrysler does not intend to recall the models, insisting the "vehicles met and exceeded all applicable requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, including FMVSS 301, pertaining to fuel-system integrity" when they were manufactured and sold. "The company does not agree with NHTSA's conclusions and does not intend to recall the vehicles cited in the investigation. The subject vehicles are safe and are not defective," Chrysler announced last week in a statement. "We believe NHTSA's initial conclusions are based on an incomplete analysis of the underlying data, and we are committed to continue working with the agency to resolve this disagreement."
Legally, Chrysler has until June 18 to formally respond to NHTSA's request. If the automaker does not take action, NHTSA is expected to issue a formal finding and seek a recall.

Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver is a more rugged Trailhawk

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

We briefly mentioned the Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver that was heading to SEMA last week when discussing the Mopar lineup set to be shown in Las Vegas. At the time, though, we weren't able to dive too deeply into details. But with SEMA in full swing, we were able to sneak over and grab some snaps of one of the first modified Cherokees we've seen. The Cherokee is, after all, kind of an unknown quantity in the modification department, being so new and featuring such a polarizing design. We were quite interested to see what Mopar could come up with.
Starting with the Trailhawk 4x4 and its 3.2-liter V6, the engine is fitted with a Mopar cold-air intake and a new exhaust, although it's not clear what sort of power boost has resulted. We'll admit, we were hoping Jeep and Mopar would get a bit more aggressive with the Cherokee's suspension (has anyone thrown a few-inch lift on the new Jeep yet?), but there's no mention of upgrades beyond the knobby, off-road tires. Those should do some good when the going gets rough, while rock rails are there to protect the Auburn Pearl paint on the body.
Speaking of that paint, it's complemented by an interesting graphics package in contrasting black and Crush Orange. The cabin sports Katzkin Amaretto leather seats, along with tech-friendly items like a wireless charging system for cellphones and wireless internet.

2014 Jeep Cherokee: Introduction

Tue, 27 May 2014

When we look back at some of the more shocking product launches of recent yeras, the Jeep Cherokee is certainly high up on the list. And we aren't just talking about its off-the-wall, polarizing design.
For starters, it brought back the iconic Cherokee nameplate - something Jeep enthusiasts have coveted for ages. But beyond that, it brought a new evolution for the Jeep brand. After all, the Cherokee is car-based - using the same compact platform that underpins the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200. It has a greater focus on technology and refinement than ever before, in an effort to appeal to a new crop of Jeep customers. And powering it all is a new (optional) V6 engine paired with an equally new nine-speed automatic transmission.
Can the Cherokee's car-based roots still allow for a vehicle that's superb when the going gets tough? Will its design still be a love/hate affair in one year's time, or will it start to blend in? Is the powertrain strong enough to not only support the needs of daily driving and road trips, but blaze a few trails as well? We're aiming to answer all these questions, and more, over the next 12 months. Welcome to the Autoblog long-term garage, Cherokee.
