I recently finished a frame off restoration on an 85 CJ7. This Jeep is immaculate. I have listed the details below. I have been involved in Jeeps for 20 years and I have to say, this is one of the nicest Ive seen. If times were different, I would keep it for myself. Im not trying to sell when I say I truly impressed myself with this build. On the highway and around town, this Jeep is an absolute blast to drive. Here are some specs:
The interior is black denim and all brand new Bestop seats - front reclining, rear fold and tumble Both axles have been rebuilt with all new seals, gears, and bearings Dana 44 in the rear New brakes all around New stainless brake lines New fuel lines New wire harness (painless) All new Stainless Steel trim New tilt steering column All new guages New paint New bestop supertop with two piece soft doors and tinted windows 33x12.5 mickey thompson MTZ tires (5 of them) 15x10 mickey thompson classic II wheels Rear tire swing out carrier Rebuilt AMC 360 bored .30 over mild cam from Edelbrock Edelbrock intake New Holley 4 barrel carb HEI ignition New clutch t-176 4 speed Transmission All new u-joints Power brakes Power steering In-frame headers Custom dual exhaust with hooker mufflers exits the rear Fiberglass body/fenders/windshield frame Steel hood/grill frame sandblasted and coated with POR 15 rust protection New 4wd Hardware 4 lift New tuffy security console with stereo New windsheild I started with a bare frame and built the Jeep from there. Every nut and bolt has been replaced with new. The frame is spotless. Im not sure what else I can say about it at this time. If you want more pictures of anything, let me know. I have shipped Jeeps before and am willing to negotiate sale price with that cost in mind. I also dont mind helping with the logistics of that process. Jeep going bigger with new Grand Wagoneer, smaller with sub-Renegade?
Tue, 11 Mar 2014The headlines are still rolling in for the new Renegade that Jeep unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last week, but already reports are surfacing, citing sources within the company, about what Chrysler's iconic off-road brand will do next.
Speaking with Auto Express (whose reports we tend to take with a grain of salt or two), Jeep chief Mike Manley suggested that two courses of action are currently under consideration at Auburn Hills to develop two very different new models - one smaller and one larger than anything Jeep currently makes.
One plan would be to make an SUV or crossover even smaller than the new Renegade, although it isn't immediately clear what platform it would take. The Renegade (pictured above in Trailhawk spec) will be built in Italy alongside Fiat's upcoming 500X, but uses a heavily modified platform. We figure the smaller model, if approved, could base itself on the new Fiat Panda Cross.
Jeep launches new ad with unreleased Michael Jackson track
Fri, 09 May 2014We've recently heard much about how Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne plans to pump up the volume on Jeep sales, inaugurating new models and global dealerships. But that's the stuff outlined in five-year plans; right now, advertising and special editions are at the fore, and the late Michael Jackson, too. Jeep has begun airing two commercials to push its Altitude Editions, Call of Summer and Lovers of the Game, that feature the song "Love Never Felt So Good" from Jackson's upcoming album of new music.
A little more star power - and timely, too - comes from Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving. While Call of Summer features a few short shots of the former Rookie of the Year and two-time NBA All-Star, Lovers of the Game is all about his white Wrangler Altitude Edition and wrangling shots. Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay
Sat, 23 Mar 2013A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.
