Selling a clean(for its age), VERY solid CJ5 with a strong running AMC 360 and T-150 3 spd trans that gets this thing going if you hit it. Other than nicks and whatnot of jeep this age, there is no rust to speak of. I know jeeps fairly well and know where they rust,( under the roll bar feet, at the seat belt mounts, rear sill etc), and this doesn't have it, its solid. There were some small pin holes under the foot boards but nothing to speak of. The body to frame mounts are solid, not collapsing rust.

It hasn't been cut up and butchered, there isn't rats nests of old wiring under the hood. They are getting harder to find in this condition. This jeep came from the south and I don't think it spent any time on the jersey salty roads.

Has a nice custom rollbar, overhead speakers, frame mounted swing out tire carrier, aftermarket air controls, lots of nice little things. Its not perfect, it will need some things looked at, like the radio, speedo is temperamental (comes with a brand new speedo and gauge cluster and cable if you want it).

Quirky electrics are good, headlights, turn signals, breaks, high beams etc. Like I said, many times on older jeeps those annoying gremlins are a mess.

You can go buy a swiss cheese rust bucket that you are going to hack away at, or you can pick this up and go, tinker on the little things.

Qualifies for antique plates-- no inspection and insurance is about $100 a year.

Thats all I got, please ask away. Come see it if you want(but please come if you say you are).

Thanks.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalls nearly 750k vehicles in two campaigns

Thu, 16 Oct 2014

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling a total of 747,817 vehicles in the US in two separate campaigns recently added to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database.
The first one covers about 434,581 units of the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Challenger, Durango, and Jeep Grand Cherokee from the 2011-2014 model years with electric hydraulic power steering, the 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 160 amp alternator, according to FCA. In the affected vehicles, it's possible for the alternator to fail without warning and possibly cause the car to stall. According to the documentation submitted to NHTSA, the automaker began investigating the problem in August 2014 and has found possible evidence of one crash caused by the failures but no known injuries.
Customers will begin receiving notification about the recall next month, and obviously the repairs will be done at no cost to them.

Chrysler investigating complaints of vehicles with faulty power modules

Sun, 24 Aug 2014

Chrysler owners are hopping mad after experiencing a series of electrical gremlins in some of the company's vehicles. Issues range from mere annoyances - windows rolling down and radios turning off of their own accord - to serious safety issues, with headlights that randomly shut off at night and cars that stall and refuse to start.
The issues are being blamed on the total integrated power module, which can cost up to $1,000 for customers to replace. This, of course, has led to a hefty batch of complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with 240 owners expressing their displeasure so far. Another site, CarComplaints.com, has registered over 300 complaints relating to the 2010 to 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, alone, according to The New York Times.
Chrysler has acknowledged that it's investigating the complaints and is analyzing the faulty TIPMs, but that isn't quite enough for customers of the affected vehicles. The newspaper has snagged a few of the more harrowing tales with the electrically challenged Chrysler products, culled from the NHTSA complaints.

100,000 Jeep Cherokee models subject to further 9-speed recalibration

Thu, 29 May 2014

It seems that the software problems with the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the Jeep Cherokee continue to mount. The programming already caused multiple development delays and even postponed the Cherokee's market launch by roughly two months. Now, Jeep has issued another recalibration to hopefully assuage unhappy drivers.
According to Automotive News, this reflash for the allegedly jerky transmission covers over 100,000 Cherokees built before May 5, but it's not technically a recall. If owners are having problems and complain to the dealer, they get the new software. Otherwise, they continue with the current version. New vehicles on dealer lots also receive the latest revision to the programming. It takes only around five minutes to install, but technicians need to take the Cherokee on a test drive to adapt the gearbox to the changes.
The Cherokee's transmission software has been problematic practically since the beginning. The Jeep plant in Toledo, OH, briefly idled its second-shift workers last year to take care of the issue. Since the launch issues for the crossover, demand has been strong. Jeep added another 1,000 temporary workers to the Toledo factory to keep up, and sales were on par with the Wrangler in just its first two months.
