1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2 door 5 Speed manual (Rare) Body The body has
plenty of dents/scratches but no paint missing.
There is no rust anywhere and the floors look like new. There are no cracks in the body. All glass in good all around. This Jeep is very rare. It is very difficult to find a rust free 2
door with a 5 speed manual tranny. And
this one you can drive on the highways. Off Road Equipment The Jeep has
a 6.5 Tomken lift kit. Massive adjustable
control arms, adjustable track bar. JKS
sway bar disconnects. Tom Woods driveshaft and slip yoke
eliminator. Detroit locker in rear and
Track Lock diff in front. 4.56 superior
gears, Rusty’s heavy duty steering bar, Bilstein shocks (the most expensive) front
and rear. Warn winch and bumper in front
and Hanson Offroad rear bumper with tire carrier. It has BF Goodrich 35” KM2’s with plenty of
thread left. Mechanics Maintenance
is done all the time to keep this XJ in perfect shape. This jeep does not leak a drop of
anything. It does not use oil. I’ve driven it as far as Maine to attend the
Jeep Jamboree and recently to PA for a trail ride. This is not a trailer queen and can be driven
on the highway at 70 or above. Recently the
front bearings/seals were replaced. All
fluids were changed, all fluids. The
brakes were recently replaced, front and back.
The steering box is OEM with a steering box brace. The cooling system is in great shape and the
Jeep never overheats. The air
conditioner blows frigid air. The motor
(4.0) is very strong and has had the exhaust header replaced with a better
unit. The clutch has been modified so
you can start the Jeep on a hill, in gear, with the clutch out, just like
Wranglers. Very nice. The ball joints and tie rod ends have been
replaced recently. The engine has had
the plugs changed and is not due yet.
Coolant has been recently changed. Mileage is
over 100,000 but who cares, it’s a Jeep.
There is no earthy reason that this XJ won’t last many more years. This Jeep is for sale locally and will be pulled if sold.
Has a salvage title. Was hit and minor damage totaled it. Was fixed and titled. |

Chrysler nets $1.6B income in Q4, Fiat profit up 5%
Wed, 29 Jan 2014Chrysler announced its 2013 financial results today and unveiled its new name and decidedly bank-like logo. Amid the announcement, Chrysler posted big gains in income, while Fiat didn't perform to analysts' expectations.
For 2013, Chrysler had revenue of $72.1 billion, up 10 percent from 2012. Net income reached $2.8 billion, a 65-percent increase. It was the company's third straight year of annual profits.
In terms of unit sales, Chrysler sold 2.4 million cars worldwide in 2013, up 9 percent. According to Automotive News, 1.8 million of those vehicles were sold in the US, a 14-percent increase. The sales growth boosted Chrysler's US market share to 11.4 percent, up 0.2 percent.
Chrysler expecting up to 200,000 9-speed transmissions for 3 models this year
Tue, 22 Jan 2013Striving for improved fuel economy, we already knew that Chrysler will begin using a nine-speed automatic transmission in some of its new products this year, but what we haven't known is that volume at which this gearbox will be used. According to Bloomberg, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has been quoted as saying that the automaker expects to sell close to 200,000 units equipped with this new transmission in 2013. Those gear-rich trannies will be spread out across three models, consisting of the redesigned Chrysler 200, the still-unnamed Jeep Liberty replacement and the Dodge Dart.
This transmission should play a pivotal role in making Chrysler vehicles more competitive in their respective segments. Just for comparison, one of the Dart's key competitors, the Toyota Corolla, still uses a four-speed automatic, and a previous report indicates that the next-generation 200 could get up to 38 miles per gallon on the highway, which is better than most non-hybrid midsize sedans on the market. Marchionne says that the new Jeep model is expected during the second quarter of this year, but there is no word as to when the new 200 or nine-speed Dart will debut, but clearly Dodge would like to have the transmission in its compact yesterday. As for that volume figure, it definitely doesn't seem out of reach since the Dart, Liberty and 200 combined for a total of more than 225,000 units in 2012.
How many more gears can we expect in future cars? Probably not many more, since the CEO of transmission-builder ZF, Stefan Sommer, previously stated that nine speeds was the "natural limit" for transmissions.
AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.
