If you are looking for a stock Jeep as a daily driver or a luxury SUV, go on to another ad right now. This XJ is meant for someone who wants to have some fun off-road but still be able to park it on a public street. One neighbor's kid calls it "muddy truck" and his parents call it "that thing" if that tells you anything about her. I'm pretty sure the roof is the only body panel which isn't dented (if you'd like, I can change that for the winning bidder). The front and rear wheel wells have been trimmed to accommodate the 33s. She has a 9,000lb winch to pull lesser rigs from peril and four 130w lights on the roof rack to illuminate the tears in the eyes of Hummer drivers while they are being winched out by a 15 year old truck. You should buy this XJ. She has taken me to some fun places and it's nice to have a rig you can beat on and have it come running back to you like your name is Chris Brown. So, despite the fact that she bleeds awesome, smells like fear and protein and will claw the face of it's enemy's like an off-strip Vegas hooker, I am now selling this she-beast to someone who will love her.

The good: This thing goes anywhere. Motor runs well, transmission shifts without issues and 4wd engages with no problems. Recent work includes basic tune-up (distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires), complete fluids (oil, trans, power steering and brake fluid), new steering box and lines with JCR steering box spacer, new starter, rebuilt rear springs (removed the lift block and replaced the factory u-bolts and the centering dowels), rear brake shoes replaced. Power locks and windows all work. Every bolt I've replaced has been replaced with a grade 8, equivalent or better. Current VA safety inspection - 100% street legal.

The bad: LCA bushings need to be replaced ($25 in parts and a couple of hours of labor) and the driver's door sags. It drives just fine but it makes a bit of a racket sometimes due to the worn bushings - mainly on hard, low speed turns. It doesn't bother me but you'll have to decide for yourself.

The exterior: This thing is incredible. It looks like you just drove it out of Bartertown on your way to battle the zombie horde. If you don't think she looks awesome, I would recommend checking out a nice CPO Honda Pilot and might want to move on right now. Condition is 10/10 if you're awesome. 1/10 if you think clear coat and straight panels are important.

The interior: My neighbor's kid calls her "muddy truck" for a reason. The interior isn't fantastic. I removed the carpet from the cargo area which helps to clean up better when you need to put your wet tow strap away after pulling a Rubicon from a creek bed (true story). Driver's seat has some tears in the normal spot along the side. Some of the trim is cracked. Everything works but looks a little rough. Condition is 5/10 if you're awesome. 1/10 if you plan on wearing anything other than work clothes in the rig. (This is a Jeep, work clothes means Dickies not Brooks Brothers.)

Right now you're probably asking why I would sell such a kick-ass rig. Well, I have four Jeeps. Not my family, me. Four is too many Jeeps and this is the one my wife doesn't like riding in. She says people stare at us and not in a good way. I try to tell her they are just jealous but she has a hard time hearing me over the crunching sound Prius' make while I drive through them. Needless to say, I like her company and would like her to ride with me because she's funny and she smells nice.

Truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if a local buyer is found.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT gets power increase, minor tweaks for 2015

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

As a brand within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, SRT may have an uncertain future, but it's pumping out some seriously mean machines anyway. The supercharged Hellcat V8 may be gobbling up most of the headlines with its 707 horsepower, but even the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting some small updates for the 2015 model year.
Most importantly for many enthusiasts, the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting a slight power bump. Don't expect the 700+ hp from the Hellcat, but this SUV sees a modest 5-hp and 5-pound-feet of torque improvement to bring output to 475 hp and 470 lb-ft for its 6.4-liter V8 with an eight-speed automatic. The minor change doesn't change the sprint to 60 miles per hour, clocking in at the same 4.8 seconds, or the tow rating at 7,200 pounds. Still, more grunt is never a bad idea.
Another new addition is the Active Noise Canceling system as a standard feature for this powerful SUV. It adds four microphones around the vehicle and uses the stereo system to nullify extraneous sound. However, Jeep claims that the meaty exhaust note from the V8 still gets through into the cabin for driver enjoyment.

Jeep shows off Moab Easter Safari concepts crawling the red rocks

Thu, 28 Mar 2013

While most brands are busy showing off in New York, Jeep headed out to Moab for the Easter Jeep Safari with the company's fleet of 2013 concepts. This year saw the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk II, Wrangler Mopar Recon, Wrangler Stitch, Wrangler Sand Trooper II, Wrangler Flattop and Wrangler Slim Concepts tackle the rocks and sand, and Jeep was kind enough to bring along a camera crew to film the machines rolling over a few obstacles. The result is the video below, though don't expect to see too much hardcore off road action.
Instead, the quick clip features more than a few interviews with Jeep executives, including Jeep Head of Product Design Mark Allen, explaining what makes the Easter Jeep Safari so important. You can check out the quick clip below for yourself, and be sure to thumb through our galleries of the concepts as well.

Chrysler teases upcoming outlay of SEMA cars

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is hauling a multitude of modified models to the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas this November, and the company is releasing the first teasing sketches of many of them.
Unfortunately, FCA isn't giving many solid details on any of the concepts other than saying the vehicles from Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat all benefit from tuning from its Mopar performance brand. The teaser photos include a sinister-looking Chrysler 200S, Fiat 500 Abarth with two-tone paint and a scorpion on the hood, a red and black 500L, seemingly two different takes on the Jeep Renegade, a green Dodge Challenger wearing the T/A badge, an orange and black Dart, a very neon Charger, just the outline of a red and black Viper, a Ram ProMaster in Mopar livery and a Ram pickup called the Outdoorsman.
Take a look through the gallery to see what you think of the sketches for these concepts, and scroll down for the full announcement from FCA.
