1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 135,128 miles 4.0L Inline 6 Engine Automatic transmission AC This is a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 that is very dependable and has been very well mechanically maintain. I would not hesitate to drive this Jeep across the country. These are one of the best vehicles to drive in the snow!!! The Inline 6, 4.0L motors are one of the most reliable and durable motors ever that can easily go over 300,000 miles. This one has a new water pump, new radiator, new fan motor, thermostat and battery. AC work, 4x4 works great and no leaks!! The main seals have been replaced which is only problem with these engines and expensive to have done. This Jeep is no where near perfect but is in good general condition for the year and has lots of life left in it. It is perfect for winter and snow. It does have some surface rust underneath on the frame but nothing major. There are no holes or anything bad and no dents except small one in front bumper. The body is in good shape overall. For the money this is a great Jeep and very dependable! It wont cost you a arm and a leg in repairs after you buy it like lots of used cars at this price and its a 4x4!!!! Chinese Jeep production confirmed with Fiat, Guangzhou agreement
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Fiat has just finalized a deal originally set up in January between it and China's Guangzhou Automotive Group to bring Jeep production to China. It remains unclear which models will be built, although we're wagering that it'll be the 2014 Cherokee. What we do know, now, is where production will take place.
According to Automotive News, Guangzhou originally wanted production to take place in its home assembly plant in its namesake city. Fiat has battled to send production to a joint venture facility established between Guangzhou and Fiat in the town of Changsha. The joint facility won out, and now the factory, originally built in 2010 with a 140,000-unit capacity, will see Jeeps rolling out of it.
Currently, the GAC-Fiat factory produces the Fiat Viaggio, a jointly developed product that is closely related to America's Dodge Dart. And while it remains unclear as to which model will join the Viaggio on the assembly line, that model is understood to ride on Fiat's Compact platform. The only Jeep to share those underpinnings is the new Cherokee, so there's not much connecting of dots needed to see why this scenario would make sense.
Jeep Cherokee won't get diesel until sales of oil-burning Grand Cherokee improve
Tue, 01 Jul 2014Okay Jeep fans, you want more diesel options? Time to step up and prove it. The only way Jeep will offer a diesel powerplant in the Cherokee, according to brand head Mike Manley, is if sales of the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel nearly double.
Currently, about eight percent of the Grand Cherokees sold feature the 3.0-liter, EcoDiesel V6. That's simply not enough to warrant the bringing an oil-burning Cherokee to the US market, despite the vehicle's presence in Europe, where it's sold with a 2.8-liter diesel V6.
"Cherokee is slightly different because of its weight and size. When I think about bringing Cherokee diesel here, I would like to see Grand Cherokee diesel get much higher than eight percent," Manley told Automotive News. "It would have to be in mid-double digits."
2014 Jeep Patriot and Compass ditch CVT for six-speed auto
Mon, 07 Jan 2013It was reported in Automotive News a few months ago, but a new report on Allpar.com adds some details to news that the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot will get a six-speed automatic to replace the CVTs they currently use. According to a tip provided to Allpar, the 2014 models will begin production in March and be on sale sometime in the summer. The Jatco-sourced CVT in use until now - Jatco is owned by Nissan and Mitsubishi - has been often criticized, and many won't be sad to see it go.
The incoming six-speed automatic is said to be an all-wheel-drive cog-swapper that's the work of Hyundai and Magna and has been paired with the DynaMax AWD system used in the Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage. It won't be the only Chrysler product using a transmission with ties to Hyundai: the six-speed automatic in the Dodge Dart comes from Powertech, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai. With the Patriot and Compass said to be driving down the trail for the last time this year, it will be a short run for the new tranny and the rumored addition of a backup camera and power rear liftgate on the Compass.
