This is a well sorted, mechanically superb 2000 Jeep Cherokee with the best drive train that Jeep ever made.It has all of the equipment (except cruise control) including PS, PB, Auto transmission, 4 liter in line 6 engine, factory A/C, power locks, etc. I am an old man and I purchased this Jeep four or five months ago after searching for some time, with the intent of driving it (as a second vehicle) forever. Well, things change.The truth is, that I ran across a newer generation Jeep that I couldn't do without. So here I go again. During the months that I have owned this Jeep, in addition to the regular maintenance, I replaced many parts with new ones. The list starts with new General AT2 Grabber tires (one size oversize), new Monroe Sensatrac shocks (front and rear), new Bosch heavy duty battery, new tailgate lift pistons, new rear wiper motor, new front wiper motor, new wiper blades, front and rear, new fitted floor mats front and rear, new frame mounted trailer hitch with factory wiring and a new evaporator for the factory air conditioning, Forgot to mention that I replaced the factory steel wheels with factory aluminum wheels and added a remote key fob (did not have one originally). .My mechanic has gone through this vehicle thoroughly from stem to stern and has inspected (to the extent practical), repaired or replaced those items that needed attention. At this moment, everything works as it should.I trust this vehicle to drive anywhere. It has had no accidents but has plenty of scratches and dings from thirteen years on the road. It still looks very good overall, but the blemishes are evident when you get up close. I don't think you can see in the photos, but the windshield has two rock chips. It has delivered 18 + miles per gallon since I have had it (roughly 3,500 miles) and actually averaged just over 20mpg on a short trip and it rides like a Jeep.Please come drive it, if practical and feel free to call with any questions.Phil 804-895-1936. Finding surfing spots in the UK is tough work, even in a Jeep
Sun, 06 Jul 2014You truly have to love surfing to practice the sport in the United Kingdom. The area isn't exactly teeming with warm beaches full of sunbathers, and absolutely no easy spots to find big waves. To be a UK surfer, you need to be a fearless adventurer, not to mention quite lucky. And driving a Jeep might help, too.
Surfers Oli Adams and Micah Lester are traveling around the British Isles in a Jeep Wrangler Overland trying to find the best surf spots out there. These guys don't fit the laid-back surfer stereotype, but that's because finding waves in the UK is hard work. They say that the waves at some of these spots only exist for about three hours every year when the current and winds are just right.
To find these surf spots, the Jeep's offroad capabilities are paramount. In some areas, as you'll see in the video, there isn't even a beach, just jagged rocks. It would be like the movie Endless Summer, that is, if it could start snowing at any moment. These guys are clearly dedicated to their sport.
Jeep follows up Super Bowl spot with call to help the USO
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Once again, Chrysler had one of the most talked about Super Bowl commercials with its two-minute Whole Again Jeep spot, which was used to highlight its Operation SAFE Return program for US military personnel returning home from active duty. As part of this campaign, Jeep announced today that it will be donating up to $300,000 to the United Services Organizations (USO), and you can help.
Simply tweet using the #joinOSR hashtag on Twitter, visit the Yahoo! homepage or go to the Jeep Operation SAFE Return website, and Jeep will donate $1 to a fund that provides returning troops things like employment assistance and incentives to buy new vehicles. Jeep is also donating to this charity to the tune of $250 for each Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited (including the Freedom Edition model) and Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition model sold.
2014 Jeep Cherokee dreams of Moab, crawls on stage [w/video]
Wed, 27 Mar 2013The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee inched its way onto the stage at the New York Auto Show today, proving that at least the "Trail Rated" version of the SUV is more than just a controversial unique odd fresh face in the mid-size segment. After the short, simulated Moab run by the Trailhawk model, the gray four-door was joined on the stage by a burgundy Limited model - the luxurious highway variant.
As a recap, the all-new 2014 Cherokee rides atop a modular Alfa Romeo-derived platform (we know it from the Dodge Dart) and will be offered in both front- and all-wheel drive models with a choice between a 2.4-liter four-cylinder (rated at 184 horsepower) and a new 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 (developing 271 horsepower) engine. A nine-speed automatic is standard and no less than three different all-wheel drive systems are available.
Of the four different models (Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk), we like the rugged looks and capabilities offered by the Trailhawk the best.
