2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport XJ, 4.0L, 4WD, 4 Door, 151k, Automatic with snow tires + summer tires, PA Inspected thru 9/2014.
Runs good and has been reliable for me for the 2+ years I have owned it.  Body and frame seem solid, only very minor rust at the bottom of the doors (passes PA inspection).  4WD system works well.  It includes two complete sets of wheels and tires.  The summer tires/ steel wheels are OK and pass PA inspection.  The winter tires shown in the pictures are Firestone Winterforce and are almost like new (less than 2k miles) and are also mounted on their own steel rims.   I found that it is un-stopable in the snow with these tires even in 12+ inches of snow.
The Good:
Engine / transmission / drive system is strong and has been reliable.  All the fluids were changed with in the last year (engine oil, brake fluid, transfer case, front and rear difs, and antifreeze).
Has new Monroe Air shocks on the back along with a Class III hitch
Has a new muffler
Had a new radiator, water pump, hoses, Hello Fog lamps, and serpentine belt 2 years ago.
The Bad:
Check Engine light comes on for P155 code which is the after Cat oxygen sensor.  That sensor only verifies the cat is working for emissions, so the Jeep runs fine.  I drove it less than 5K miles a year, so it is emissions exempt.
Some times I get a code for Cylinder #6 misfire but its seems to come and go and only effects it at idle (not a problem under load).  I put fuel injection cleaner thru it and it seemed to fix it.
Slight rust at the bottom of the doors, but it does pass PA inspection.
It had AC, but it is long gone.  The plumbing and condenser are missing.  The AC compressor is still there, but I don't know if it works.
The Ugly:
The body is decent, but has scratches and dings from 150K miles and 13 years.  I don't think it has ever been wrecked.
It has two added transmission coolers that I added to deal with towing a 3000 lb boat.  It works great but doesn't look the best mounted on front of the radiator.
The interior is mostly OK, but the driver seat is wearing.
Everything works electrically except the front speakers for the radio.  The back speakers are Kenwood and sound good.

Local Pickup only, would prefer cash as the time of pick up.

Chrysler recalling over 200k vehicles across its brands

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

With more than 200,000 units across six separate recalls and almost all of its brands, it appears that Chrysler has officially jumped headfirst into the recall pool this month. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued three official recalls for the automaker, and The Detroit News is reporting that the automaker itself has announced three more.
The biggest of the recalls applies to about 120,000 Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger and Chrysler 300 models for 2011 and 2012 due to faulty wiring harnesses for the seat-mounted side airbags, which could lead to these airbags not deploying in the event of a crash. A little more than 60,000 two-wheel-drive versions of the 2007-2008 Dodge Nitro and 2008 Jeep Liberty SUVs are being recalled due to a heat shield that could cause the driveshaft to break, which if that isn't bad on its own, could then hit underneath where the airbag sensor is mounted, causing the airbags to deploy. Wrapping up NHTSA's recall notices, about 20,000 Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass models for 2012 are also being recalled due to a problem with the fuel tank transfer tube that could lead to the vehicle stalling. The LX car recall campaign is going into effect this month, while the other two will start next month - all three notices are posted below.
In addition to the official NHTSA recalls, The Detroit News is also reporting that Chrysler is recalling more than 16,000 Ram trucks and a small number of Dodge Dart sedans. Around 6,500 2013 Ram 1500 trucks will be recalled due to an improper adjustment of the parking brake cable from the factory, while 7,000 Cummins-powered 2013 Ram Heavy Duty trucks are being recalled due to an engine cover that does not have as much heat resistance as it is supposed to. Finally, a total of 46 Dodge Dart sedans are being recalled due to a problem with the brake calipers and/or parking brake.

Jeep Grand Cherokee in headliner fire probe

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching an investigation into 146,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 2012 model year, The Detroit News reports. This comes as the result of the government safety agency receiving three complaints from owners who cited fires inside the Jeep's cabin.
According to the report, NHTSA says:
"The customers reported a burning odor and visible smoke coming from the headliner while the vehicle was being driven. This was followed by flames from the headliner itself. Customers lowered the windows in an effort to clear the smoke but this increased the fire's intensity. All three vehicles had to be extinguished with a fire extinguisher or by the fire department as they continued to burn after the vehicle was turned off."

Jeep hiring 1,000 part-time workers in Toledo on Wrangler, Cherokee demand

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

The new Jeep Cherokee has been quite a success for Chrysler, but its factory workers are getting tired. The automaker has agreed to hire up to 1,000 part-time, temporary employees at its Toledo Assembly Complex where the CUV and Wrangler are built. It will allow the company to keep Jeep production moving, while giving laborers a break.
According to plant manager Chuck Padden in the Toledo Blade, full-time workers are regularly taking on 60 hours a week, and it's beginning to wear on them. "To get them more time off is important to us, to make sure they're refreshed, and can work safely," said Padden.
Chrysler has already hired 380 temporary, part-time workers for the plant, and 50 have been converted to full-time employees. The company is in the process of interviewing the rest of the new hires now and plans to have all 1,000 in place by the summer. They will work between 10 and 30 hours a week mostly on weekends for $15.78 per hour with limited benefits. The temporary positions will last "as long as demand continues for the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee," said Jodi Tinson, Chrysler spokesperson for manufacturing and labor communications, to Autoblog in an email.
