Well Maintained & Slightly Lifted 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Awd With V6 Power on 2040-cars
Colonial Heights, Virginia, United States
Well maintained 2005 4WD Jeep Grand Cherokee with 96K miles and many options. PS, PB, PW, CC, Tilt Steering, A/C, Leather seats, power sun roof, computer info system, JVC sound system, AM, FM, CD with amplifier under the cargo area, a stubby antenna and several USB outlets in the cabin. The engine is a 3.7 Liter V6 with an economy re-programmer and a K&N air filter. Fuel mileage varies between 16 and 18 mpg. As you can see, it has a slight lift to accommodate Jeep Rubicon wheels and Goodyear Wrangler Authority A/T tires with roughly 70% tread. It also has a factory tow hitch with wiring and a brake controller installed. This is a really good utility vehicle and everything works as it should. Rides like a Jeep. I have the owners manual and three keys. I don't drive it much but I like being in it.
Looks great for a nine year old vehicle. The paint is decent and it has the usual blemishes and dings from normal wear, but no dents. The only item that is noteworthy is the drivers side front fender. Under certain lighting, it appears that the paint is 1/2 shade different than the rest of the vehicle. The photos don't capture it. I have not done any paint work, nor is there any evidence of paint work having been done in the past. I maybe making a mountain out of a mole hill, but I intend to be straight. I have replaced both front fender liners, which is not unusual on this generation Jeep. I always use Rain-x cleaner and just replaced the wiper blades. Recently added a cargo cover and have always paid particular attention to all maintenance items. My English Setter is very fond of this Jeep, but I am old and beginning to have difficulty getting in and out of this thing. The lift in conjunction with the low pillar height is a tough combination for very senior backs. Good luck and please call with any questions and/or come drive it, if practical. Phil 804-895-1936 |

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT gets power increase, minor tweaks for 2015
Tue, 02 Sep 2014As a brand within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, SRT may have an uncertain future, but it's pumping out some seriously mean machines anyway. The supercharged Hellcat V8 may be gobbling up most of the headlines with its 707 horsepower, but even the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting some small updates for the 2015 model year.
Most importantly for many enthusiasts, the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting a slight power bump. Don't expect the 700+ hp from the Hellcat, but this SUV sees a modest 5-hp and 5-pound-feet of torque improvement to bring output to 475 hp and 470 lb-ft for its 6.4-liter V8 with an eight-speed automatic. The minor change doesn't change the sprint to 60 miles per hour, clocking in at the same 4.8 seconds, or the tow rating at 7,200 pounds. Still, more grunt is never a bad idea.
Another new addition is the Active Noise Canceling system as a standard feature for this powerful SUV. It adds four microphones around the vehicle and uses the stereo system to nullify extraneous sound. However, Jeep claims that the meaty exhaust note from the V8 still gets through into the cabin for driver enjoyment.
2014 Jeep Compass/Patriot sing their swan songs with a six-speed automatic
Tue, 15 Jan 2013Unless the governor, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, gives them a reprieve, the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot are expected to meet their makers sometime next year. Should they perish, it's a shame that it would happen just as they've shed the continuously variable transmission that was their major bugbear, and just as the Compass has gotten its best looks yet.
Both will roll with a proper six-speed automatic transmission, courtesy of PowerTech. Noise-resistant gears and tuning by Chrysler boffins should alleviate the unappealing sounds that were given off by the older CVT. Unless, that is, you choose to have either model equipped with Freedom Drive II; the serious off-road package, available on both baby Jeeps, will still come with the CVT. The base transmission on the entry-level Sport trim remains the five-speed manual.
Otherwise, it's minor changes for the Compass, set off by the new 18-inch wheel option, trim pieces around the car and a back-up camera. The Patriot gets seat-mounted airbags, but is carryover otherwise. With their expected demises perhaps a year away, not much has changed otherwise. Engine choices comprise the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque or the 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 172 hp and 165 lb-ft.
Mazda2 nets Japan Car of the Year, Cherokee first US model to ever crack top 10
Tue, 14 Oct 2014The 2015 Mazda2 is quite high up on our must-drive list. Yes, the teeny, tiny successor to the 100-horsepower five-door is worth getting excited over, largely because the previous generation was one of the absolute best smiles-per-dollar values on the market.
While we eagerly await for our opportunity to take to the 2's helm, our expectations of the new car have just been heightened thanks to its win in Japan's Car of the Year competition. Called "Demio" in the land of the rising sun, Japanese journalists handed out Mazda's second COTY award since the CX-5 took the title in 2012.
In more surprising news, the new Jeep Cherokee has made the list of 10 Best Cars in Japan. The Jeep's triumph marks the first time an American car has cracked the top ten, finishing eighth. It's not, however, the first Fiat Chrysler vehicle to snag the title, following in the footsteps of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Fiat Panda. Still, the fact that an American brand can make such impressive inroads into the traditionally tough-to-crack Japanese market is a seriously big deal.
