Up for sale is my 1981 Jeep CJ5 Renegade.
This Jeep is in great condition inside and out. Original Paint, Original Interior in Excellent Condition (also comes with Rugged Ridge seat covers over the original upholstery, SEE PICS)
The 258 6 Cylinder Engine was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago along with a new SR4 Transmission. 4 Wheel Drive is original to the Jeep and is in great condition (not rebuilt). Newer Headers and Exhaust all the way through. New Shocks all the way around. All gauges and switches work including the stereo with 4 speakers, two in the dash and two under the front seats.
This Jeep has a Bestop Soft Top, as shown in the pics. There is a zipper problem, however, this will be fixed this week. Plastic window on the soft top are in great condition with no weathering. There are a few hairline cracks showing on the black vinyl on the back corners, however, the top is still strong and tight and will work for a long time to come.
There is very little rust on this Jeep as most do, however, it is minimal and only on a couple surface areas. I have included pictures of the floor so that you can see the surface spots. As you can see, it is minimal and could easily be hand sanded and painted. Thanks to the desert climate here in Idaho, this Jeep has survived for over 30 years!!!
Being that this is a Idaho Jeep, you are getting a fantastic Jeep in way above average condition for the year and what you see on eBay. To be honest, this Jeep is a blast to drive and purrs like a kitten. I have the reserve set modestly. The only reason I am selling it is to buy my wife a newer 4 door Jeep. Don't miss out on this excellent Jeep!!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by phone or text and I will answer you on them, or respond to this ad as well, your choice. 208.869.9927
Thanks and good luck. You will not be disappointed.

Chrysler 3.0L EcoDiesel V6: Autoblog Technology of the Year finalist
Wed, 19 Nov 2014Offering a diesel engine in an American pickup is anything but new - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler all offer excellent and almost impossibly powerful oil-burning engines in their various fullsize trucks. What is new and novel about the 3.0L EcoDiesel, though, is its size, and the variety of vehicles that use it. It's the smallest engine, as far as displacement is concerned, currently offered in a large truck in the US, and, for 2014 and 2015, it is available in the Ram 1500 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Though it may be small, it's got muscle. While 240 horsepower isn't particularly impressive these days, the engine's 420 pound-feet of torque more than makes up for that. The torque rating is even greater force than even the big 5.7-liter Hemi can muster. Chrysler's well-regarded eight-speed automatic transmission makes the most of all that bull-headed pulling power in both the Ram and Grand Cherokee. Chrysler claims the Ram EcoDiesel 1500 can tow as much as 9,200 pounds when properly equipped, which makes it "90-percent of the Hemi with a night and day difference in fuel economy."
Make no mistake; it's that promise of a sizable fuel economy improvement that many long-haul truckers will be most interested in. In the Ram 1500 that we tested for our Tech of the Year competition, the diesel engine costs $2,850 more than the gas-fed V8, and Ram estimates that EcoDiesel buyers will pay off their investment when compared to the Hemi engine in less than three years, which is considerably less time than the 4.5 or so years the average buyer will keep his or her fullsize pickup. The more you drive, the more you'll save, and the math proves equally as effective in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Fiesta-sized Jeep coming in 2014
Wed, 03 Jul 2013We've heard rumors before about a new, baby Jeep to slot below the new-for-2014 Cherokee (pictured) in the automaker's lineup. Now, Edmunds is reporting that the new crossover will arrive sometime in 2014, and will be about the same size as the Ford Fiesta. This currently unnamed vehicle will effectively replace both the Compass and Patriot in the Jeep lineup.
Speaking to Edmunds, Jeep CEO Mike Manley said that the new, small Jeep will be assembled in Italy and marketed globally beginning sometime next year. Manley did not provide many details on the new model, but did say that it will be 4.2-meters (165 inches) long. The Cherokee, by comparison, is 4.6-meters long (181 inches). Furthermore, Edmunds reports that while the new small Jeep will offer diesel power in other markets, there are no plans for an oil-burning version here in the US.
Many other automakers are exploring this smaller crossover segment here in the US. General Motors recently launched the Buick Encore, which is loosely based on the Chevrolet Sonic subcompact's platform. Ford has already launched its Fiesta-based EcoSport in other markets, and has reportedly been pondering the idea of offering it in the US, as well.
25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango SUVs recalled over brake feel
Mon, 10 Mar 2014Chrysler has announced that it is recalling over 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from several markets over concerns about brake feel under hard braking. The affected models are from the 2012 and 2013 model years, although the actual dates of production aren't available. 18,700 are in the US, while 825 are in Canada, 530 are in Mexico and a further 5,200 outside of North America.
According to a statement, Chrysler was informed of the issue by a component supplier for the Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brakes in anticipation of an emergency stop. A component in the system was restricting the flow of brake fluid too much.
As Chrysler is quick to point out, the way the brakes functioned was in compliance with regulations and there are no reported cases of drivers losing braking power. Instead, the issue rests with what Chrysler calls a pedal feel that "was not consistent with customer expectations." So it would seem Chrysler is being proactive and fixing a problem not because there's a legal issue at work, but simply because it doesn't feel the way the manufacturer wants it to. Well done.
