For sale is an exceptionally clean and totally rust free 1970 Jeep Wagoneer. This Jeep has been in Northern Calif. all it's life. It has been stored for many years inside and out of the elements. She sports the original 350 Buick Dauntless motor and turbo 400 trans. The paint is in actually decent shape, as is the interior. The headliner is flawless. The dash has a large hole where the stereo speaker used to be. The pass. side door panel is missing. There is not rot or rust anywhere on this Jeep, the floors, wheel wells, frame etc are all in great solid and original condition. She starts and runs excellent, she shifts into gear smoothly and the transfer case works great. There is no smoke, no leaks and it can idle for hours and does not overheat. The engine is complete, the a/c is factory and the compressor is off but comes with the Jeep. The brakes work but are very soft, the tires are actually pretty good but are very old and cracked. The glass is in excellent shape all around, no pits or heavy marks. The body is without any major dents only minor dings inherent with a vehicle of this age. AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.

Mon, 26 Aug 2013Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long.
