We will be offering a few vehicles in the coming weeks and are starting with this 1977 Jeep Wagoneer: it has 82,976 Miles on the clock (the Odometer and Speedometer ACTUALLY WORK, though Clear Title is listed as Exempt - due to year - but photos also show a new 360 V-8 Engine with Edelbrock Cam/Intake, installed only a few years ago; along with new Holley Carburator and MSD Ignition).  You be the judge of what you'd like to do to it next.

The photos show a truck perfect for beach cruising - exactly what we use it for - and is a real head-turner: the rust is real, we consider it a patina and a testament to the personality of the truck, and with the newer engine it really has a Rat Rod appeal!  Note it has the Tag and Current Registration - it is insured - WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK regularly, and it serves us well and has been driven over 100-Miles at certain stretches during our few year ownership, you are not looking at a "barn find" in the traditional sense AND YOU CAN DRIVE THIS HOME.  I wouldn't dare gaurantee concours-like perfection and you are still buying as-is, BUT, there is much that works where this truck is concerned:

  • New Starter installed just last year (and NEW Gas Gauge was also installed at that time)
  • Brakes work on a dime, and we've certainly put them to the test with this barreling heavy beast!
  • Blinkers and light covers have been replaced.
  • All-Weather JEEP Floormats in the front
  • KNEE FREEZER Jeep OEM Air Conditioning works VERY WELL.  All cosmetics are in-tact, there are no buttons to replace, only 2 roll-up window levers are missing in the rear seats (but your surfboards and cargo should not mind this; nor does it effect the rear passengers who seem to smile when in the back-seat of this unique peace of Americana anyway)
  • All 4 Good Year Wrangler Tires match - with matching wheel covers - were purchased just last year and show how much tread is still left on these great wheels.
  • Brand-New Windshield means no digs or cracks in the glass!
  • Rear Power Window works everytime, and is perfect for loading longer items - transported 5 bookshelves from IKEA just 6-months ago.

What would I change or address if keeping it?  The window seals, and some of the surface rust, its not air tight - which is fine for car-port storage, dry-days, and especially for the beach cruising - but no one wants the ocean in their car.  Get those seals replaced, and save the "homemade wood panel" interior trim.  Also it has Quadra-Trac 4WD, but I misplaced the hoses, you may want this feature, we never needed it - 2WD was/is fine - and we never towed anything with it anyway...

I am not a mechanic, and my speciality is actually foreign automobiles, but I will do my best to answer any questions not contained in this dialog or the pictures - would be happy to do so - and encourage inspections and test drives: likewise, we hosted an Estate Sale recently where this Truck was parked locally, it generated ALOT of interest so we decided to offer this first of other cars to be listed later - but this one has been parked in a new backyard, the birds are not being kind to it, and I would hope someone will save it soon (accordingly I reserve to end the Auction early to local buyers who make an offer I can't refuse)

1 Update: I showed the car this evening (01/30/2013 - 9:15PM EST), I don't typically drive the car after dark (and we discovered the headlights do not come on, for now).  All the other lights/blinkers/tail-lamps/brake-lights/etc. work, and a further test shows the new Sylvania headlamps are functioning and will illuminate - just not when pulling the connection on the Wagoneer dashboard - I would be remiss if not adding this note, considering!

Chrysler 3.0L EcoDiesel V6: Autoblog Technology of the Year finalist

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Offering a diesel engine in an American pickup is anything but new - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler all offer excellent and almost impossibly powerful oil-burning engines in their various fullsize trucks. What is new and novel about the 3.0L EcoDiesel, though, is its size, and the variety of vehicles that use it. It's the smallest engine, as far as displacement is concerned, currently offered in a large truck in the US, and, for 2014 and 2015, it is available in the Ram 1500 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Though it may be small, it's got muscle. While 240 horsepower isn't particularly impressive these days, the engine's 420 pound-feet of torque more than makes up for that. The torque rating is even greater force than even the big 5.7-liter Hemi can muster. Chrysler's well-regarded eight-speed automatic transmission makes the most of all that bull-headed pulling power in both the Ram and Grand Cherokee. Chrysler claims the Ram EcoDiesel 1500 can tow as much as 9,200 pounds when properly equipped, which makes it "90-percent of the Hemi with a night and day difference in fuel economy."
Make no mistake; it's that promise of a sizable fuel economy improvement that many long-haul truckers will be most interested in. In the Ram 1500 that we tested for our Tech of the Year competition, the diesel engine costs $2,850 more than the gas-fed V8, and Ram estimates that EcoDiesel buyers will pay off their investment when compared to the Hemi engine in less than three years, which is considerably less time than the 4.5 or so years the average buyer will keep his or her fullsize pickup. The more you drive, the more you'll save, and the math proves equally as effective in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Millionth Jeep Wrangler JK to roll off line this morning

Fri, 17 May 2013

According to a report on the Chrysler Communications Facebook page and one fairly grainy image of the production line, at around 11:00AM Eastern this morning, the one-millionth Jeep Wrangler JK will roll out of the company's Toledo assembly plant.
The third-generation or "JK" Jeep Wrangler has been around since the 2007 model year, and has obviously been more popular than ever. With a greater than ever number of trim levels, two-door and four-door Unlimited models and hardy off-roading Rubicon packages, the JK offers more to choose from than ever for those looking for something in a traditional Jeep. In fact, with the modern 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 powering it, the 2012 model year saw more than 140k Wrangers sold here in the US; the best-ever figure for the model.
With a model refresh due out for the Wrangler in 2015 (along with the likely addition of a diesel engine option), we expect that sales will continue to roll right along, too.

Chrysler teases upcoming outlay of SEMA cars

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is hauling a multitude of modified models to the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas this November, and the company is releasing the first teasing sketches of many of them.
Unfortunately, FCA isn't giving many solid details on any of the concepts other than saying the vehicles from Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat all benefit from tuning from its Mopar performance brand. The teaser photos include a sinister-looking Chrysler 200S, Fiat 500 Abarth with two-tone paint and a scorpion on the hood, a red and black 500L, seemingly two different takes on the Jeep Renegade, a green Dodge Challenger wearing the T/A badge, an orange and black Dart, a very neon Charger, just the outline of a red and black Viper, a Ram ProMaster in Mopar livery and a Ram pickup called the Outdoorsman.
Take a look through the gallery to see what you think of the sketches for these concepts, and scroll down for the full announcement from FCA.
