Meet Miss. Penny! Extremely original 1982 Jeep Wagoneer. 82998.9 original miles. Has a very strong running 258 c.i. straight six motor, automatic transmission, and four wheel drive with manual locking hubs. Brand new tires, battery, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires, new muffler. Brake pads have approximately 100 miles on them. Air Conditioner works, needs to be recharged. The jeep is original in every other way. Paint, interior trim, mechanics, hoses etc. Every thing works including the original am/fm push button radio. Roll up windows and manual door locks. There is a minor scratch next to the front bumper on the passenger side. about a nickel size bubble in the paint on the rear tail gate, and some "orange peel" behind the drivers side rear door. A small tear in the head liner above the rear window. The weather stripping around the windows needs to be replaced. this vehicle is in excellent shape for being 30 plus years old. It has NOT been restored, repainted or otherwise altered. Only the things necessary to maintain its drivability have been replaced. Many of the original manufacturers stickers are still in place around the engine compartment. I have retained the original plug wires dated 1981 as well.This vehicle has been stored and covered in a garage for the past 7 years, driven approximately 200 miles a year. NHTSA closes investigation into Jeep Liberty fires
Sun, 16 Mar 2014The investigation that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened into the Jeep Liberty in October 2013 has been closed. NHTSA received two (!) complaints about fires starting in the driver's door, thought to be caused by the master power window switch. The initial estimate was that 80,000 Libertys could be roped into a possible recall, but according to a report in the Detroit News the agency examined records for 425,000 Chrysler products that used the same window switch, including the Dodge Nitro and Chrysler Town & Country minivan.
After canvassing 265 warranty claims related to the master switches, NHTSA concluded that the rate of fires compared to the "large population of vehicles" was rather low, and that there was no trend pattern behind the few issues it did find. Perhaps with that, and the closure of the trailer hitch investigation, the Liberty can finally rest in peace.
Chrysler recalls 2013 Ram pickups, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Wed, 17 Jul 2013Chrysler's spate of successful products is about to be marred by a trio of recalls. The Pentastar is recalling 51,477 Ram trucks and Jeep SUVs. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there have been no reported accidents, injuries or deaths related to the affected vehicles.
The largest action covers the Ram 1500, which is seeing 45,961 trucks being recalled. Models built between June 26, 2012 and February 5, 2013 are being recalled due to a potential software issue in the electronic stability control. Apparently, the system can be randomly deactivated upon vehicle startup.
Chrysler is also recalling 4,458 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Covering everything but the SRT models, the potentially defective SUVs were built between January 14 and March 20, 2013. This recall focuses on "premium headlights," which means cars equipped with LED running lights. During the switch from the bright daytime running lamp setting to the low-intensity parking light setting, an electrical spike can cause one of the Jeep's computers to go into a safe mode, turning off the LEDs. This violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
