For Sale - my 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, VIN # 1J4GS5872KP100998.

- converted to TBI fuel injection, controlled by Dynamic EFI EBL locker system - you tune your car (spark advance curves, fuel VE tables, etc) from a laptop inside your car! No chip swaps, will store 8 different tunes - for example, you can run lean for highway driving, a little richer and more spark advance to thunder up mountain passes, etc). More info at dynamicefi.com

- current emissions tag

- 40 gallon fuel tank with top-accessible fuel pump, raised to preserve ground clearance

- 6" leaf spring lift with ProComp shocks and steering stabilizer

- replaced np229 transfer case w/ np208 (more reliable, not vacuum controlled)

- heavy-duty Cadillac steering box, a great stuck-to-the-road feel, straight and true at 80mph on highway

- all VDO gauges and some custom dash work

- engine rebuilt by Western Engine Supply @ 178,536 miles, total 194K

- electric seats and windows ( currently rear window works from dash, but not at tailgate)

- you get the POS computer to tune/play with the system (if you want it; you can use any computer running a relatively recent version of Windows), tons of original parts/gauges, trim pieces that haven't been installed, maybe my Hi-Lift jack

I took on this project mid-stream, and it is mechanically and electrically 90% complete! Still a few things to address - radio not installed, needs a center console ( I have a first attempt POS console you can have to use or as a template for your solution), has a transmission fluid leak, some rust spots that I've ground down and applied rust inhibitor, but not painted. Rear headliner was drooping, so it's been pulled and painted, but no fabric reapplied yet.

Another crazy custom Jeep Wrangler spotted in Morocco

    Sun, 03 Mar 2013

What in the world is the vehicle you see above? Well, um... yeah. We have no idea. According to the video description from YouTube, however, it's a modified Jeep Wrangler, and it comes from the same person who created the equally insane side-by-side merged Wrangler you saw here.
We can clearly make out the Wrangler-shaped passenger compartment up top, but as for the other bits and pieces that make up this rather amazing machine, your guess is as good as ours. At the very least, it seems to us that the car's wheelbase has been given a significant stretch, and the grille may have come from an International LoneStar Harley-Davidson Special Edition semi truck.
What other components are sourced from the massive International hauler? No idea. We suggest you check out the video below and draw your own conclusions. Oh, and if you've got any other ideas, feel free to let us know in the Comments.

NHTSA still mulling crash tests for recalled Jeeps

    Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Well, no one should ever accuse the government of not giving things plenty of thought. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is still debating whether it will retest any of the 1.56 million 1992 to 1998 Grand Cherokees and 2002 to 2007 Libertys that were part of a recall regarding fires after rear-end collisions. And yes, this debate has been going on for over a month. In other news...
The recall dustup started in early June, when Chrysler took the unusual position of refusing a recall request from NHTSA regarding placement of the fuel tank on the effected vehicles. NHTSA said a collision could cause a fire, a position Chrysler took issue with. Extensive negotiations ensued, with Chrysler agreeing to fit certain Jeeps with trailer hitches, which it said would provide some protection to fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle in the event of a collision.
Part of the issue rests with the amount of data that needs to be processed, according to The Detroit News. NHTSA administrator David Strickland said during a Washington Auto Press Association meeting, "There's a lot of data and Chrysler is being very cooperative in giving us more data." Until that information has been sorted, it looks like re-testing will still be up for debate.

Jeep hiring 1,000 part-time workers in Toledo on Wrangler, Cherokee demand

    Wed, 12 Mar 2014

The new Jeep Cherokee has been quite a success for Chrysler, but its factory workers are getting tired. The automaker has agreed to hire up to 1,000 part-time, temporary employees at its Toledo Assembly Complex where the CUV and Wrangler are built. It will allow the company to keep Jeep production moving, while giving laborers a break.
According to plant manager Chuck Padden in the Toledo Blade, full-time workers are regularly taking on 60 hours a week, and it's beginning to wear on them. "To get them more time off is important to us, to make sure they're refreshed, and can work safely," said Padden.
Chrysler has already hired 380 temporary, part-time workers for the plant, and 50 have been converted to full-time employees. The company is in the process of interviewing the rest of the new hires now and plans to have all 1,000 in place by the summer. They will work between 10 and 30 hours a week mostly on weekends for $15.78 per hour with limited benefits. The temporary positions will last "as long as demand continues for the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee," said Jodi Tinson, Chrysler spokesperson for manufacturing and labor communications, to Autoblog in an email.
