I was intending to get her into great shape but kind of lost interest and don't want to deal with it It is a 1987 Jeep Wrangler with the 4.2 liter 6 cylinder, and a 5 speed. The top is in great condition (no holes) no tears, and I have fixed the dents and primed them over. Just needs spot painting and the rest of the original paint can be buffed out.The jeep has 135k or so miles, so it is very low mileage for its age. The main problem is the carburetor. When I got it, I had my friend install a redline weber carburetor on it, and it ran great. Unfortunately I did not drive it much, and it sat for 6 months and the carburetor gunked up. I have the original factory carter carburetor, which I have rebuilt. All it needs to run is for the original carburetor installed and it will run. I was trying to tow the jeep to a carb shop to fix, but then got a flat tire, and had trouble taking off the lug nuts. All the parts to fix are there."

This is my project jeep wrangler.  I had the intention of rebuilding this thing, lifting it up, and making an off road rig out of it.  I just kind of ran out of time to deal with it.  The jeep will run.  When I got it, I had my friend install a jeep redline weber carburetor.   I didn't drive the thing very much and it was sitting for 6 months undriven, which caused the carburetor to gunk up.  I have the original carter 2 barrel carb that I have rebuilt.  It just needs to be installed, and I don't know how to deal with the vacuum tubes and everything else.  I tried towing it to a shop to install the carburetor, but on the way, the front tire blew out, and I had problems removing the lug nuts.   I just didn't want to deal with it anymore, and am selling it on ebay.  If you have time and mechanical knowledge this is your jeep.  I bondo'd the dents and sprayed primer over the areas.  Just needs spot painting over those areas, and the rest of the paint can be buffed out.  I have all the parts to put it back together, just not the time so my loss is your gain.  The Jeep is currently registered as non-opp and there are no outstanding DMV fees.

The car is located at a gas station on the corner of Orangeshow and Waterman in San Bernardino.  I can make arrangements for you to inspect the vehicle before auction closes.

Chrysler delays 2014 Jeep Cherokee media launch

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Chrysler is making the unusual move of delaying the first media drives of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which were slated to start next week in Seattle. And while something like this is a rare occurrence, and one that most of the Autoblog staff can't recall happening this publicly or so close to the event itself, it won't effect the actual on-sale date of the new Cherokee, which is set to hit showrooms in September.
"Over the last couple of weeks during final quality and durability testing, we have discovered the opportunity to further improve powertrain calibration," Chrysler told Automotive News. This marks the second notable delay in the Cherokee's short life, after production was delayed for roughly a month earlier this summer.
Still, we'd rather Chrysler make sure the Cherokee is ready for primetime before flying media in from around the country. It shows a willingness to get things right the first time, rather than offering media drives and then tweaking the car after the fact.

AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.

Chrysler registers Trackhawk trademark

Wed, 01 Oct 2014

There may not be many ways to forecast what an automaker is planning for the future, but there are some. Trademark applications are one of them, and Chrysler has just applied with the US Patent and Trademark Office to protect the name "Trackhawk." The question is, what's it planning on using it for? We don't know for sure, but we can put together an educated guess or two. And one guess is that Jeep will use the name to replace the letters SRT on the performance version of the Grand Cherokee.
How do we figure, you ask? From a number of developments. For starters, the SRT division has been reintegrated into the Dodge brand. Those letters currently appear on only two vehicles from outside the Dodge lineup: one is the Grand Cherokee SRT, and the other is the Chrysler 300 SRT. We've heard ruminations (however unconfirmed) that the latter could be either discontinued or possibly relabeled, and if the same proves true of the GC, the Trackhawk name could serve as a on-road performance counterpart to the Trailhawk label applied to off-road versions of models like the Cherokee and Renegade.
Logical it may be, but it's hardly a foregone conclusion. The Trackhawk name could just as easily be used for a new concept (like the Trailhawk name was in 2007), for another kind of trim level or for something else entirely. In fact we don't even know for sure it'll be used by the Jeep brand specifically, or used at all for that matter. Automakers have been known, after all, to register names they don't end up using.
