1995 Jeep Wrangler Yj 4x4 With Cj Front Grill! on 2040-cars
Lake Villa, Illinois, United States
On a whim, my wife and I recently purchased this weekender's "toy" but unfortunately some important family matters have taken priority and so we're putting our dreams of enjoying the "Jeep life" on hold for awhile. That said, while we must wait, you don't have to! When you win this auction, here's what you'll be getting into... Exterior: The front grill and fenders have been replaced with the much cooler looking round head lights of a Jeep CJ7. As with all 20 year old Jeeps, it has some minor rust and body issues around the edges but she still looks respectable. I have a set of diamond plate side rocker panels on the way that I will include but you will need to install them to cover up the imperfections found under the doors. Interior: Very clean and comes with the original rear bench seat along with all zip windows and soft door toppers (not shown). The back rear/tailgate window has a rip that was once taped - we never fixed or replaced it as we enjoyed the top down most of the time. The Jeep front seat covers, Jeep steering wheel cover and Jeep floor mats seen in the pictures are included too. I replaced the old dash lights with white LED's so at night it looks super fresh and clean. Lastly, the entire tub floor from front to back has been been treated with waterproof bedliner - just hose her down for an easy cleanup! Engine and other mechanical aspects: To be clear, I am NOT a mechanic but to me the 5 speed manual transmission runs and shifts fine. The battery is about a year old and I replaced all of the fuses. Underneath, she's loud and definitely needs a new muffler. She's also a pretty rough ride and could probably use a set of shocks. The rear tires are newer and have plenty of tread while the front tires are starting to show some age but appear to still have enough tread depth to get through at least one more Chicagoland winter. Payment & Delivery: Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping

Toledo gets proactive in fight to keep Jeep Wrangler
Wed, 08 Oct 2014Let's make this very plain - the city of Toledo, OH loves its Jeeps. It loves them so fervently that the very rumor of the Jeep Wrangler moving out of its traditional home prompted the city's mayor, D. Michael Collins, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich to hold a weekend conference call with Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne.
"The purpose of this call was for the mayor and governor to gain clarity on Mr. Marchionne's comments last week regarding the possibility of the next generation of Jeep Wrangler being built at a location other than the Toledo North Assembly Plant," a spokesman for the mayor's office told The Toledo Blade.
While no further commitments were made by any party, Collins and Kasich's statement was quite unequivocal about keeping Toledo's unwillingness to let the Wrangler go, saying "the city and its partners will again rise to the occasion to ensure that the new Wrangler is made in Toledo." According to the newspaper, the next step is for face-to-face meetings between officials from Ohio and FCA.
2014 Jeep Cherokee facing production delay
Fri, 17 May 2013Jeep's bold-faced new direction spearheaded by the 2014 Cherokee is facing some teething issues. According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, production start-up of the controversial new utility vehicle at its Toledo North facility is running about a month behind schedule "due to a wide range of issues." That's according to Mark Chernoby, senior vice president of engineering at Chrysler.
Chernoby maintains that the issues being encountered aren't unusual for the launch of a new vehicle - particularly one with a new powertrain - and he downplayed the delay, telling Jeep dealers that they "will have ample inventory of the midsize SUV by fall." Among the kinks being worked out? Calibrating the Cherokee's cutting-edge ZF nine-speed automatic transmission and refining assembly line tasks to make the process more efficient.
Chrysler expects to start building retail-ready versions of the Cherokee around mid-June, with official sales slated to start in September.
NHTSA closes book on Jeep 'trailer hitch' recall after all
Mon, 20 Jan 2014After much debating and hand-wringing, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now says it has "no reservations" with Chrysler's plan to recall certain Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models over concerns that their fuel tanks, which are located behind the rear axle, could rupture or leak in the event of a rear impact. The longstanding argument between the two entities saw Chrysler openly defy the Feds after a request to recall 2.7 million units back in June.
Chrysler's "voluntary campaign" will instead see it recall 1.56-million 1993-2004 model year Grand Cherokee SUVs, along with 2002-2007 Liberty models. Affected vehicles will get a trailer hitch installed free of charge, which Chrysler says will provide an additional degree of protection for the fuel tanks in the event of a crash. Jeeps with Mopar-branded hitches or hitches that were installed at the factory aren't affected by this recall.
Chrysler's argument throughout this battle has been that the Jeeps in question are no more susceptible to fires than comparable vehicles from the same time period, a position that NHTSA has seemingly arrived at as well. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," said outgoing NHTSA boss David Strickland during an interview with the The Associated Press.
