1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ built crawler.

Has had a new frame installed, gen right 3 link front frame brackets and rear 4 link brackets.  All upper links are 2” 1/4 wall DOM and lowers are 2” square 1/4 .  Just installed 14 new 2.63” Johnny joints with 1.25” shank.

Rear axle was stretched approx. 5-6”, and front roughly 3”.  Genright stretch gas tank.  Relocated steering box and used Genright flat fabricated pitman arm.  Genright track bar kit and brackets.

Has a ’98 Cherokee 4.0 and aw4 installed, that have approx. 95,000 miles.  NP231 with a slip yoke eliminator.  Tub is nice and rust free drivers floor pan was replaced.  Genright front highline tube fenders and TNT rear corner armor with handmade rear fender flares welded and molded into the corners.  TNT rocker armor.  Swag off-road relocated reinforced frame mounts.  Custom made skid plate and engine skid.  Custom made rear frame cap/hitch/step and body mounted spare tire carrier (no rattles at all w/ 39.5 tire!).  Also has a louvered hood panel to get the heat out.

Front axle is a 78-79 ford high pinion Dana 60 front, 5.38 gears, Detroit locker, stock neck down inner shafts and Yukon alloy 35 spline outer shafts with drive flanges.  3/8” fabricated diff cover and huge 3/8” wall DOM tie rod (you’ll have to try hard to bend it).  Sky off-road crossover steering arm.  All steering joints use heim joints.

PSC steering pump and reservoir and 1.5” ram for hydraulic assist, which can move the jeep sideways with the front wheel up against a rock.

Rear is a GM 14bolt (70” factory width).  Yukon 5.38 gears, Detroit locker, 3/8” fabricated diff cover, disk brake conversion, pinion guard, and truss.

High angle driveline 1350CV rear driveshaft.  Jeep XJ shortened front driveshaft.

Tires are 39.5” bias Irock’s on stock hummer H1 double beadlocks.  PVC beadlock inserts, and Trailworthy fab rock rings.  Spare is a 39.5” Irock for a 17” wheel, with no beadlock.  Have a spare Hummer wheel that is included.  Wheel spacers were used to get the front and rear track width’s identical.

Other bits:  Cobra CB, JeepAIR A/C kit that blows cold, herculined floors, front quadratec floor mats, 2003 wrangler front seats, all seats have rugged ridge black neoprene covers.  Warn Winch.

All in all there is probably a bunch more I didn’t mention.  It is a rock solid performer and has never broken down on the trail.  Did Pritchett canyon in Moab without winching or any tugs, while everyone else in the group ended up needing help.

The flaws:  Oil press. Gauge doesn’t work.  Speedometer fluctuates.  I have a gauge panel to replace the factory gauges with autometers.  Drivers rear window (plastic portion) was cut and has been taped up.  Windshield is cracked. It could use a sway bar if your going to do a lot of road driving.  It’s very stable, but does have a good bit of body roll.

I noticed the title check shows some issues...vehicle has a clean clear Michigan title in my name.  Shows some past issues with mileage reports, which are a mute point with this Jeep, as the only original items are the tub, dash, and some of the wiring. Prior owner stated he had hit a deer with the Jeep, no serious damage, which was repaired accordingly.

Selling as I don’t use it as much as I used to, and don’t have the opportunity to do the difficult trails this was built for.

Chrysler extending production of current Dodge Avenger, Jeep Wrangler, Grand Caravan

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Are you hesitant to pull the trigger on a brand new Dodge Avenger in hopes that a new one will be coming? Well, don't hold your breath. According to The Detroit News, Chrysler will be extending production of the current Avenger sedan through the end of 2015.
Originally, we heard that the company would kill the Avenger to better focus its midsize sedan efforts on the Chrysler 200 replacement. But then new reports stated there would indeed be an Avenger successor, and that we could see it as early as next January. This Detroit News report cites supplier sources confirming the extension of Avenger production, though Chrysler has not released an official statement on the matter.
These same suppliers say that the current Jeep Wrangler will live on through mid-2018 - that's right, another five years. The Detroit News reports that a replacement for the iconic, go-anywhere Jeep was due in mid-2016.

Radical 2016 Jeep Wrangler suggested by job listings?

Fri, 31 May 2013

With most inside the industry expecting the next-generation Jeep Wrangler to arrive for the 2016 model year, it makes sense that the automaker would be looking for some choice candidates to to fill program openings as the off-roader goes through its development. A recent ad on Chryslercareers.com suggests to some that the lightweight Wrangler Stitch Concept, revealed just two months ago and shown above, provides some clues about the off-road icon's next iteration.
According to Automotive News, the job descriptions - which don't name the model specifically - hint that the next-generation Wrangler will benefit from a serious diet. The ads appear to seek those familiar with advanced high-strength steels, hinting that lightweight aluminum body panels may appear on the 4x4. In addition, there are suggestions that Jeep may fit the Wrangler replacement with air suspension, as seen on the Ram and Grand Cherokee, to retain ample off-road clearance yet lower that chassis to improve aerodynamics at highway speeds. The job postings reportedly also lend credence to the idea of a diesel Wrangler.
It seems every bit of the next-generation Wrangler is up for review, as it will be the first time this iconic model is redesigned under Fiat ownership. Questions remain whether or not the Jeep will retain its clip-down hood, easy-to-remove door pins and folding front windshield - loyalists expect them, but fuel economy and safety standards may crimp their cases for survival.

2014 Jeep Cherokee gets official in a hurry

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

Automakers work very, very hard to keep their new vehicles under wraps until they can present them in exactly the way they want it - typically choreographed under the bright lights of an auto show, or perhaps with photos or video in an idyllic location. Spy shooters and leaks, in other words, keep executives and public-relations types up at night.
This is likely to be one of the most polarizing designs to come out in 2014.
Take today, for instance, when the team over at Jalopnik got a big scoop - the first undisguised shots of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, a model whose name wasn't even officially confirmed yet. The clandestine images taken inside of a factory were blurry and didn't exactly show off the crossover's radical new contours in the same sort of flattering light that Jeep probably would've wished for its product reveal. So the Auburn Hills automaker has wisely reacted by spilling at least some of the beans on the new model, giving us these four photos and confirming the Liberty replacement's name, Cherokee.
