This is an awesome Jeep. I have took this thing on a handful of trail rides (Utah, Tierra Del Sol, and locally twice) and what a capable vehicle! This jeep will go up anything!! Here are some of the things I really love about this Jeep and so will you!

- The new Pentastar V6. 285 HP! That is 83hp over the last year's motor. What a difference!

- New and Improved 5 speed automatic transmission. One extra gear than the last years Jeep with a lower first gear and closer ratio. This makes for much better drivability on and offroad. You definitly want to buy a 2012 or up Jeep for these two reasons. Its a whole new world.

- When I went on the Tierra Del Sol trail ride, it was a blast. All the jeeps I was following were older with their tops off. The drivers were having fun too but they were sweaty and had a nice layer of dirt covering themselves. I had the top on so I was in full AC, with my favorite music jamming. This makes trail rides so comfortable which is especially important if you plan on bringing the wife and/or kids. The older jeeps had to get a good run at many of the climbs to have momentum to offset their low power. Not this 2012. Plenty of power and traction to take it nice and slow. Stopping and starting on the steep with no problems.

- I put 35" Toyo Open Countrys on this jeep. They have approx 10K miles on them. I chose 35s because that is the largest tire you can install and keep the drivetrain stock. This was very important to me for warranty reasons of course and also reliabilty. In my experience, OEM always bests aftermarket in the reliabilty dept.

- To fit 35's, you need a lift. I chose the Teraflex 3" lift with their front lower arms and rear upper arms. This is a great riding lift and allows you to adjust the pinion angles. I also chose to upgrade to Fox shocks for their better ride.

- I installed a Warn Powerplant winch. This is the coolest winch out there and pricey too at $1700 bucks. It is cool because besides being a capable Warn winch, it also has a nice air compressor built right in. Very clean, very usable. If you want to do some real trail rides, you gotta be able to air up after you air down. Airing down increases your traction dramatically and also smooths out a very bumpy ride.

- It has a very clean LoD front bumper. It allows the winch to be mounted low, out of the radiator air stream (no overheating) and looks cool doing it. It also allows for a better approach to rocks and stuff for the front tires.

- It has a synthetic winch rope. This is very nice for winching and takes considerable weight off the car.

- It has customized Spider rock rails. These look cool, protect your jeep and are tucked up nice and high. I customized them by cuttin a new solid panel of aluminum that replaces the original panel with holes. I didnt want rocks and mud flying up through those holes and piling up above the rails. I think this is an improvement and you wont see rails like this on another jeep.

- It has TeraFlex's new, HD hinged carrier which allows the rear door to support the extra weight of a 35" spare tire. This is an awesome product. It allows you to access you rear door directly without having to swing away a spare tire carrier first. Many of those spare tire carriers rattle and squeak too which is one of my pet peeves.

- The white body with white top and fenders keeps the jeep cooler when it is sitting out on the trail with the motor off and is easier to keep clean. Those black tops and fenders start turning white after a while. I also chose the tan leather interior to keep the temp down and plus I think that color scheme looks the best.

This is the perfect Jeep for trail rides and just enjoying summer with the top off. It has the freedom top which can be removed in parts. You can take it all off or just pop the two panels off over the fronts seats or my preference, remove the rear and leave the panels on over the driver and pass seats. The top is nice a quiet on the road and does not leak at all.

I am selling this jeep because we are buying a new house and need to get my debt to income ratio down. I will likely buy another one just like this in a couple years after we get into the new place. Next time I will buy one used just like this to save some dough.

This jeep did have the heads replaced at the dealership about 10K miles ago. This was a common problem with these Pentastars in the 2012 and this has been rectified and I do have the reciepts.

In the pics you will notice some small marks in the paint on the right rear fender. I just noticed them today and the look like they will buff out easily. I plan to have this done this coming week. You will also notice some dings and the inside of the rear door. They are small and I do not plan on fixing them since they are rarely seen. You may also notice some small white dots on the bumper and winch. I rubbed out a few of them with a litle elbow grease so they do come off. I will have these removed as well and the rusty winch leader allen bolts will be replaced.

I do have a clean title in hand (borrowed some money to pay it off so the transaction would be easy)

Feel free to contact me for questions or to come and inspect and test drive before bidding. You wont be disapponted. I will get it on a lift within the next few days and add pics of the undercarriage to my Flickr account.

Additional pics are on Flickr. Please email me for the link since Ebay didnt like the link I pasted here.

Update...

First of all, I forgot to mention some of the basics. This jeep runs perfect like you would expect from a 2012 with 20K miles and rides real nice. It tracks nice and straight and cruises on the freeway easily. The title is clean and it has never been in an accident of any kind. The oil has been changes religiously and I have the records for that.

I have posted one pic of the underside on this listing and more pics on Flickr. It is nice and clean. No dents. There is also an updated pic of the bumper without the "dots".

You may notice the tire support under the spare tire. This is a custom part I made a while back when I had the stock spare tire carrier. It isnt really needed now with the Terra Flex carrier but I left it on. I will probably remove this before it sells unless someone really wants it.

Chrysler recalling over 200k vehicles across its brands

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

With more than 200,000 units across six separate recalls and almost all of its brands, it appears that Chrysler has officially jumped headfirst into the recall pool this month. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued three official recalls for the automaker, and The Detroit News is reporting that the automaker itself has announced three more.
The biggest of the recalls applies to about 120,000 Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger and Chrysler 300 models for 2011 and 2012 due to faulty wiring harnesses for the seat-mounted side airbags, which could lead to these airbags not deploying in the event of a crash. A little more than 60,000 two-wheel-drive versions of the 2007-2008 Dodge Nitro and 2008 Jeep Liberty SUVs are being recalled due to a heat shield that could cause the driveshaft to break, which if that isn't bad on its own, could then hit underneath where the airbag sensor is mounted, causing the airbags to deploy. Wrapping up NHTSA's recall notices, about 20,000 Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass models for 2012 are also being recalled due to a problem with the fuel tank transfer tube that could lead to the vehicle stalling. The LX car recall campaign is going into effect this month, while the other two will start next month - all three notices are posted below.
In addition to the official NHTSA recalls, The Detroit News is also reporting that Chrysler is recalling more than 16,000 Ram trucks and a small number of Dodge Dart sedans. Around 6,500 2013 Ram 1500 trucks will be recalled due to an improper adjustment of the parking brake cable from the factory, while 7,000 Cummins-powered 2013 Ram Heavy Duty trucks are being recalled due to an engine cover that does not have as much heat resistance as it is supposed to. Finally, a total of 46 Dodge Dart sedans are being recalled due to a problem with the brake calipers and/or parking brake.

Chrysler delays 2014 Jeep Cherokee media launch

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Chrysler is making the unusual move of delaying the first media drives of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which were slated to start next week in Seattle. And while something like this is a rare occurrence, and one that most of the Autoblog staff can't recall happening this publicly or so close to the event itself, it won't effect the actual on-sale date of the new Cherokee, which is set to hit showrooms in September.
"Over the last couple of weeks during final quality and durability testing, we have discovered the opportunity to further improve powertrain calibration," Chrysler told Automotive News. This marks the second notable delay in the Cherokee's short life, after production was delayed for roughly a month earlier this summer.
Still, we'd rather Chrysler make sure the Cherokee is ready for primetime before flying media in from around the country. It shows a willingness to get things right the first time, rather than offering media drives and then tweaking the car after the fact.

Chrysler expecting up to 200,000 9-speed transmissions for 3 models this year

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Striving for improved fuel economy, we already knew that Chrysler will begin using a nine-speed automatic transmission in some of its new products this year, but what we haven't known is that volume at which this gearbox will be used. According to Bloomberg, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has been quoted as saying that the automaker expects to sell close to 200,000 units equipped with this new transmission in 2013. Those gear-rich trannies will be spread out across three models, consisting of the redesigned Chrysler 200, the still-unnamed Jeep Liberty replacement and the Dodge Dart.
This transmission should play a pivotal role in making Chrysler vehicles more competitive in their respective segments. Just for comparison, one of the Dart's key competitors, the Toyota Corolla, still uses a four-speed automatic, and a previous report indicates that the next-generation 200 could get up to 38 miles per gallon on the highway, which is better than most non-hybrid midsize sedans on the market. Marchionne says that the new Jeep model is expected during the second quarter of this year, but there is no word as to when the new 200 or nine-speed Dart will debut, but clearly Dodge would like to have the transmission in its compact yesterday. As for that volume figure, it definitely doesn't seem out of reach since the Dart, Liberty and 200 combined for a total of more than 225,000 units in 2012.
How many more gears can we expect in future cars? Probably not many more, since the CEO of transmission-builder ZF, Stefan Sommer, previously stated that nine speeds was the "natural limit" for transmissions.
