Lamborghini and Bentley may hold off on SUVs so VW can conserve cash

After surveying the European economic scene, Volkswagen may have decided now is not the time to launch utility vehicles with Bentley and Lamborghini badges. Bentley officials say they will continue to push for support for the EXP 9 F and Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman has said planning for the Urus will continue until VW tells it to stop.
That decision could come on November 23, when VW's board will vote on the company's budget for equipment, factories and vehicles. With VW's sales slowing and the Euro economy slumping further, some industry watchers say the company is more likely to build its cash reserves than to introduce super-expensive luxury SUVs or crossovers.
"Such vehicles are anything but obligatory during a crisis," says Frankfurt-based Equinet AG analyst Tim Schuldt in a new Automotive News Europe story. "Delaying their launch would be no drama but help save costs."

Love it or hate it, the Lamborghini Veneno is an incredible - and incredibly rare - car. With Lamborghini committed to building just three examples of the Veneno, it's very likely that we'll only ever see this pre-production show car in our lifetime.

Now that we see it again, it might look even better under the California sun than it did the last time we saw it under the bright lights of the Geneva Motor Show. As one of the most prestigious sports car makers on the planet, Lamborghini doesn't have much of a need for commercials - the German-owned, Italian brand's cars speak for themselves. It strikes as rather odd, then, that Lambo's new Huracán was spotted zipping around a downtown area with a full camera crew in tow.
Whatever Lamborghini is up to is rather irrelevant, because this video marks one of the very first occasions where we get to see and hear the Gallardo replacement in action. This is also the first appearance of an orange Huracán that we can recall - previous examples were yellow, grey or white - and it looks quite nice in one of Lamborghini's distinctive shades. That mid-mounted V10 offers up a filthy howl that echoes off the buildings, though the sight of the Huracán as it slices through a slalom made up of dumpsters might be the only thing that can trump that raucous engine note.
