This Defender 90 Pickup was recently imported from the UK. It is located in Windsor Ontario and is for sale in Canada only. It sustained minor rear end damage in transit to the port. The damage does not effect the drive-ability of the truck. There is damage to the rear body tub and several broken tail lights. There is also minor damage with shallow dents to the rear crossmember. The drivers side window was also broken in transit. The 200 Tdi turbo diesel engine has plenty of power for highway driving and runs well. the five speed manual transmission also works properly. The interior of the truck is in good shape showing only normal wear and tear for the age of the vehicle. The truck bed is lined with checker plate aluminum and has a lockable aluminum cover that is removable. The full time four wheel drive with high and low range and differential lock works properly. This truck is being sold as-is. It can be repaired to 100% for minimal cost or could be used as-is if the buyer installed new tail lights and a new drivers side window. Jaguar appoints Joe Eberhardt as North American President
Thu, 19 Dec 2013Jaguar Land Rover North America has appointed a new president, Joachim Eberhardt. The German exec, 50, had previously done stints at Chrysler Group, DaimlerChrysler UK, Mercedes-Benz USA and Daimler-Benz.
Eberhardt joins JLR NA in a good, but challenging time for the company. It's fresh off the launch of the Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F-Type, which have been subject to rave reviews, and its overall sales are up 21 percent over 2012. Still, as Automotive News points out, the two manufacturers face a fight to become the equal of A-list competitors like BMW and Mercedes in the eyes of consumers.
"Joe brings a proven industry track record and valuable global leadership experience in luxury sales, service and marketing. We look forward to Joe leading our North American team in working with our retail networks to further grow the business and better serve our customers," JLR's group sales operations director, Andy Goss, said.
Jaguar Land Rover and Chery investing in Chinese plant
Sat, 24 Nov 2012While the European auto market for Jaguar and Land Rover is waning, Chinese car buyers can't get enough of the British marques. To meet that demand, Tata Motors, parent company of Jag and Land Rover, is partnering with Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co.
The two announced plans to invest $1.75 billion to build a new plant and create a new, China-focused brand. 2014 is the target for completion of the factory. Jaguars and Land Rovers built at the facility will be the first ever produced outside the UK according to the Associated Press. The JV will be called Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company Ltd.
The announcement comes less than a month after JLR announced it would open a design studio in China. It's not clear from the reports whether the two announcements are part of the same JV or two separate plans.
Jaguar Land Rover calls in handful of vehicles over suspension bolts
Thu, 24 Apr 2014With most recalls seemingly affecting mass-market vehicles, it'd be all too easy to assume, consciously or otherwise, that higher-end automobiles never face such issues. But the main reason we don't see the NHTSA recalling more luxury automobiles isn't because of their quality, we'd postulate: it's because of their relative scarcity.
Take Jaguar Land Rover, recalls of whose vehicles we only seem to have cause to report about once a year. So if you're figuring they're about due, here you go. The Indian-owned British auto group has just announced two recalls, both regarding suspension components: one affecting Jaguars and another concerning - you guessed it - Land Rovers.
First up we have a recall for 2013 to 2014 model year Jaguar XJ, XF and XK models - a whopping 297 of them - which have been found to have problematic toe links. Separation of the toe link from the rear sub-frame could result in impaired stability and control over the vehicle's direction, so JLR is calling them in to replace the nuts and washers on the rear toe links.
