1987 Defender 110 (registered, titled, and insured in Illinois)
2.5L Diesel with LT77 5 speed transmission

Legal
This vehicle was legally imported last year.  All numbers matching, so no issues when it went through customs.  Solid, clear documentation so no issues now or in future.  I specifically state that the vehicle is currently registered, titled, and insured b/c there are many Defenders for sale that do not meet this criteria and cause headaches, costs, etc for buyers.

Restoration
This vehicle was a full tear down and rebuild less than 7500 miles ago.  I'll let the pictures tell the story.  Not a "paint over" job to hide rust or overly waxed frame to hide age.  Vehicle was fully stripped and redone.  This includes the drivetrain as well.

Interior
This 110 was made to accommodate larger people.  The parking brake was moved to the passenger side to give more leg room and width.  The seats are larger and more comfortable than standard Defender seats or aftermarket replacements like Exmoor Trim.  The seat boxes are unique for the front and rear also for storage and keeping big people in mind.  All trim in the interior is new and geared to outdoor adventures.  The rear benches in the back were removed.  Custom storage was created and the battery box is in the rear as well.

Exterior
Truck is orange with new checker plating.  There's a full roof rack with the truck as well.  I currently have it off to fit the truck in my garage, but will put on when sold.
Offroad lights, snorkle, bumper, winch, etc etc
Winch has aux cable hookup on passenger side as seen in older competition style setups.

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception

Tue, 25 Sep 2012

It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.

Jaguar Land Rover says key models in short supply, some have six-month wait lists

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

Care for a bit more proof that the Jaguar Land Rover portfolio of vehicles is the best it's ever been? Well, the Indian-owned pair of brands saw a record year in 2013, while 2014 has seen a 14-percent increase in sales. The crazy thing is, though, is that figure could be even higher, provided the company had the production capacity.
JLR is running a six-month waiting list on two of its most popular models, the Range Rover Sport (above) and Range Rover. According to Mark White, the company's chief technologist for body engineering, the blame can be placed on the paint shop at the company's Solihull factory, in the UK.
"We will probably max out the paint shop before we max out the body shop. Putting the second body shop in has given us the flexibility to ebb and flow the different models that go through there and meet the capacity demands we've got," White told Automotive News. "However, you always hit a bottleneck somewhere. And the paint shop is probably going to be the next biggest obstacle."

These are the top luxury cars bought by people entering the segment for the first time

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Let's say you just got a big promotion at work or the kids are moving out of the house, and you finally have some extra money. You decide to blow it all at once and treat yourself by upgrading your ride. Naturally, you look to a luxury automaker. What do you choose?
Models like the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class may be tailor-made to introduce buyers to the premium segment, but a new study finds that they don't garner the highest rates of non-luxury customer conquests. It turns out that a Volvo leads among folks moving up to a premium brand, and it isn't even one that's made anymore, at that.
A recent study by Polk and IHS Automotive looked at what models had the highest rates of buyers upgrading from a non-luxury segment. The information comes from its new vehicle registration data through April 2014. All ten top models boasted conquest rates of over 50 percent, but the Volvo C70 led the field with 68.01 percent of its customers coming from non-premium brands.
