1995 Land Rover Discovery Base Sport Utility 4-door 3.9l on 2040-cars
Franklinton, North Carolina, United States
I have owned my landy for years, keeping my baby meticulously cleaned and maintained. We've been through a lot together, but unfortunately my dad needs some unexpected surgery, and I have to sell her to cover costs :'(
The vehicle is in absurdly good condition, especially given its age. She doesn't have any of the 'typical' old car problems: the paint isn't faded, all of the electronics work (all power doors, windows, radio etc), the weatherstripping still seals, the air vents aren't broken, fuel system is in good condition (recently tested at ~35 psi), windshield wipers work etc. The engine is also extremely healthy – oil changed regularly and not even a vacuum leak. She starts quickly, idles at the proper RPM, and the V8 has all of the get-up-and-go for whatever you can throw at it. It is built like a truck; the GAVR for this vehicle is 7000 lbs, and she has a receiver for a tow hitch.
The brush bars are aftermarket, and the paint on those is fading a touch, but not noticeably.
Jobs performed recently include: Idle Air Control Valve replaced Distributor cap and wires replaced Gear oil changed on both front and rear final drive unit All driveshafts and u-joints greased All Door latch springs replaced Engine oil changed Rotoflex changed Starter replaced Battery upgraded Clutch master cylinder replaced and lines bled
The car has a few caveats: the spotlights on the brush bars were never wired, the AC charge is getting low, and the rear view mirror was removed. This vehicle has seen minor off road use, so there are imperceptible scratches and dings low on some of the body panels.
The spare tire is completely new, and there is also a spare rotoflex that I keep in the back, along with a proper bottle jack. Tread life remaining is estimated at about 30%. The tires are in decent condition and lose less than 2 psi per month. Though the acc belt is new, there is a spare in the back as well.
This is a serious listing – I put effort into this listing so that you can make an informed choice instead of wasting your time. Please do not waste mine - contact me only if you are as serious about buying as I am about selling. Test drives allowed only if cash-in-hand. |

Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota
Wed, 12 Dec 2012As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
The official press release is posted below.
Jaguar-Land Rover builds millionth vehicle at Halewood
Fri, 29 Nov 2013Jaguar-Land Rover is not what you'd call a volume automaker by any stretch of the imagination. But in the dozen years since it started manufacturing at its Halewood plant near Liverpool, England, the automaker has already built its millionth vehicle.
The landmark vehicle is a Range Rover Evoque, done up in white with red roof and mirrors, black wheels and a red and black interior. The crossover is set to be donated to Cancer Research UK, which will auction it off next year to help fund its projects in the north-west of the country.
Halewood started manufacturing the Jaguar X-Type in 2001, then went on to assemble the Land Rover LR2 / Freelander 2 before taking on production of the Evoque a year and a half ago. The facility reached the 300,000-unit milestone just last year as production moved to a 24-hour cycle for the first time in either marque's history.
These are the top luxury cars bought by people entering the segment for the first time
Fri, 25 Jul 2014Let's say you just got a big promotion at work or the kids are moving out of the house, and you finally have some extra money. You decide to blow it all at once and treat yourself by upgrading your ride. Naturally, you look to a luxury automaker. What do you choose?
Models like the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class may be tailor-made to introduce buyers to the premium segment, but a new study finds that they don't garner the highest rates of non-luxury customer conquests. It turns out that a Volvo leads among folks moving up to a premium brand, and it isn't even one that's made anymore, at that.
A recent study by Polk and IHS Automotive looked at what models had the highest rates of buyers upgrading from a non-luxury segment. The information comes from its new vehicle registration data through April 2014. All ten top models boasted conquest rates of over 50 percent, but the Volvo C70 led the field with 68.01 percent of its customers coming from non-premium brands.
