1997 Land Rover Discovery I

Gold with Beige interior (leather). Starts, runs and drives. Cold A/C. I have purchased this Disco with the intention of restoring it to its former glory. Unfortunately life changes and it has been sitting in the yard for months now – untouched. The battery went dead, but with a jump it started right up and I took it around the block to make sure all still works.

Here is what I have done:

·         Replaced all 4 shocks and mounting;

·         Repaired and repainted roof;

·         The 2 moonroofs operating cables were worn out, so I took them out and sealed both shut. The motors do work, if you want to make them operable again;

·         Installed new starter;

·         Installed new battery (has since died, as noted above);

·         Installed new AC fans (in front of radiator). They are not original, but work perfect;

·         Completely cleaned and flushed radiator;

·         Replaced bottom radiator hose;

·         Installed new gasket at exhaust.

·         Installed new lock and key at gas lid;

Here is what I know:

·         Car had accident in passenger front side. The bumper is slightly bend back, but does not impede driving;

·         Electric works (Ac, lights, switches, etc. only item I have noticed are the door sensor for the cabin lights. The lights work with on/off switch;

·         Missing passenger seat switch;

·         Driver side switch works, but not mounted tight;

·         Cover for speedometer/RPMs cracked. I have glued it back together…but you see the cracks;

·         Passenger side back door window has been sealed shut by previous owner. Motor works, my guess is a loose anchor;

·         Windshield is loose at passenger side and needs to be resealed. Water comes in during heavy rains. I have it under a cover for now;

·         Tires are in good condition but there are3 different types on the car. I was planning on replacing them once ready for the (off)road;

·         Rear door has separate key that broke off. Door operates fine;

I am not a mechanic and the above is what I know/have done to the best of my knowledge. Finish the repairs or use it for parts. This is auction is as is/no warranties. Please feel free to ask any questions. I will be happy to take any additional pictures on request.

Jaguar SUV mule doing Ring testing in Evoque clothes

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Jaguar has moved its Range Rover Evoque-bodied tests of the production C-X17 Concept from icy streets to the legendary Nürburgring, as work continues on the brand's first SUV.
Really, there's not a great deal of new stuff here. Based on the number plates, this is a different vehicle from the one we saw back in March, which we originally identified as the upcoming replacement for the Land Rover Freelander/LR2. The details, though, appear largely the same. The biggest distinction we can see between the March tests and this are the US-spec headlights, which add amber reflectors at their sides. Based on these shots, it does seem as if the C-X17 should be a fairly poised road vehicle, as the engineers hustle it around the 'Ring.
Of course, as soon our spies can capture images of a production-bodied C-X17, we'll be sure to pass those on to you. Until then, take a look up top for images of the Range Rover-bodied Jaguar as it tests at Germany's Nürburgring. You can also scroll down for our March images for the C-X17 mules testing on public roads.

Jaguar and Land Rover to consolidate dealerships

Thu, 29 Nov 2012

Jaguar and Land Rover are set to merge their sales facilities, according to Inside Line. Jaguar Land Rover North America President Andy Gross says 45 percent of Jaguar owners also have an SUV in their stable, so it makes sense to give customers as much exposure to the cat's high-riding cousins and possible. The number of overall outlets will remain the same, and the brands will reportedly remain separate on the showroom floor, however.
So far, just one dealer has made the move to combine under the roof of one 68,000 square-foot facility in Paramus, New Jersey (above), though a further 20 are ready to make the shift and become Jaguar Land Rover outlets. Gross believes the shift is necessary so that his company's dealer network will accurately reflect the company's products. We'll see how cozy the brands are when Jaguar starts rolling out its own SUVs in a few years.

Is Jaguar's 3 Series-fighter the brand's last chance?

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

The upcoming line of compact 3 Series-fighters from Jaguar, often referred to as the Jaguar XS, could consist of a sedan, wagon and possibly a coupe and GT model (think BMW 5 Series GT). The car's all-aluminum architecture also will provide the basis for two new sports utility vehicles. Just how important is the much-touted "baby Jag" project to parent company Jaguar Land Rover? A JLR executive reportedly says the brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS, codenamed X760, Autocar reports.
The brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS.
"If the X760 fails, it will probably be the end for the [Jaguar] brand," the executive says. But Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, claims Jaguar will "build the most advanced, most efficient, most refined car in that [compact luxury sedan] segment. Not almost as good as, but better than the best in the world."
