2004 Land Rover Discovery S Black 4x4 SUV 4 doors. This vehicle was owned by one person and has been well maintained. It does show signs of wear but runs great. It was tuned up last year and unlike most people who "tune up" their Land Rover, we had the wires changed. People often get an error code of "misfire on one of the cylinders" but that is because they need to change the wires which is very involved. New tires were put on the vehicle in December 2012. It has the summer package which gives you dual sunroofs and dual front and rear air conditioning. The vehicle is very reliable and great in the snow! There are some small dents in the hood which was caused by a tree branch falling on the hood. A crack in the windshield which was caused by road debris. The NJ inspection is good. In New Jersey the only thing that is checked is emissions which are great. I took as many detailed pictures as I could and included pictures of the dents. The headliner has some areas which are pulling away but I only notice it if I look directly up at it. There is plenty of room for large people and storage. Jaguar Land Rover says key models in short supply, some have six-month wait lists
Fri, 08 Aug 2014Care for a bit more proof that the Jaguar Land Rover portfolio of vehicles is the best it's ever been? Well, the Indian-owned pair of brands saw a record year in 2013, while 2014 has seen a 14-percent increase in sales. The crazy thing is, though, is that figure could be even higher, provided the company had the production capacity.
JLR is running a six-month waiting list on two of its most popular models, the Range Rover Sport (above) and Range Rover. According to Mark White, the company's chief technologist for body engineering, the blame can be placed on the paint shop at the company's Solihull factory, in the UK.
"We will probably max out the paint shop before we max out the body shop. Putting the second body shop in has given us the flexibility to ebb and flow the different models that go through there and meet the capacity demands we've got," White told Automotive News. "However, you always hit a bottleneck somewhere. And the paint shop is probably going to be the next biggest obstacle."
Jaguar Land Rover opens first overseas factory in China
Wed, 22 Oct 2014Anyone who's a car fan knows that Jaguar and Land Rover cars and trucks all come from the UK. And while we don't doubt that will remain true for the most part, it won't be an absolute truth for long, as the British automaker has just opened its first factory overseas.
Its new plant in Changshu, China, is the result of a $1.8-billion joint venture between JLR and local automaker Chery. It covers some 4.3-million square feet and will, once at peak capacity, produce 130,000 units specifically for the Chinese market, where JLR sells over 100,000 vehicles each year to make it the company's single largest market worldwide.
Production at what's officially known as the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company will start with the Evoque, of which one in five globally are currently sold in China. Production will eventually encompass three models. We already know that the Discovery Sport will be next, but the third model line has yet to be announced. JLR has confirmed, however, that the Changshu plant will produce unique models and derivatives specifically for the Chinese market, so we wouldn't be surprised to see a long-wheelbase version of the forthcoming XE or next-generation XF assembled there to satisfy local tastes.
Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota
Wed, 12 Dec 2012As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
