1968 Series IIA Pick-up

1968 Series IIA Pick-up for sale. 83916 actual miles, 4 cylinder gasoline, right-hand drive, rust free, dual tanks, assembled in Port Elizabeth, South Africa (Rare). Body, frame and electrical are in good condition. Runs well with a new water pump, Weber carb. and fuel pump just added. This is a new Land Rover to the market. I purchased it in Zimbabwe from an old farmer in 2000, used on safari for a few years in central/southern Africa, then imported it into Santa Fe, NM in 2004. It could use some new tires (still has tires from Mozambique on), front bumper and some minor brake work (does stop). This is truly a rare vehicle. According to a letter I have from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust which tracks Land Rover production this Land Rover is a CKD (completely knocked down) vehicle assembled abroad. The original date of assembly is 1985 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. It has original front and rear Land Rover plaques showing this. The VIN and engine #'s make it out
to be a 1968. It is currently registered in NM as a 1968. Jim Coryat at the Land Rover Ranch in Mora, NM has previously worked on and is familiar with this special Land Rover. Reluctantly I must sell my baby due to financial reasons and I am asking for $14000 OBO.

Ferrari exec to lead Jaguar North America

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

Jaguar has announced that Jeff Curry will be serving as the brand's new North American vice president, effective August 13. The move is a coup for Jag, which lured Curry away from his previous posting as VP of marketing for Ferrari North America, and is further evidence of just how strong Jaguar's comeback has gotten.
Curry has spent over 20 years in the auto industry, and has worked with Audi, SiriusXM and Land Rover, where he made his start in the industry. His primary responsibilities with Jaguar will cover marketing communications, customer relationship management, and product planning.
Jaguar Land Rover's North American president, Andy Goss, heaped praise on the brand's newest addition saying, "Jeff brings with him extensive automotive and luxury marketing experience, critical expertise in leading-edge technologies and a personal passion for automobiles."

Jaguar Land Rover building new Special Vehicle Operations facility

Sun, 17 Aug 2014

It's only been a couple of months since Jaguar Land Rover announced the formation of its new Special Operations division, and we've already seen a number of vehicles to come out of it. But now the British automaker has announced a new facility that will house its elite skunkworks department.
Set to be built at Prologis Park in Ryton, England, on the outskirts of Coventry, the new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre will encompass dedicated production lines, F1-style flexible workshops, a dedicated paint studio and VIP suite for commissioning bespoke projects. JLR will spend some $33 million on the facility that will be home to 150 specialists - 100 of them being new hires.
The first project which the Special Operations division is working on is the F-Type Project 7, but we've already seen more projects in the pipeline - including the upcoming Range Rover Sport SVR - and you can bet there'll be more. The revival of the Lightweight E-Type also falls under Special Operations, but is undertaken by the Jaguar Heritage department located nearby at Browns Lane.

Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.
