1995 Land Rover Range Rover County Lwb Sport Utility 4-door 4.2l on 2040-cars

Year:1995 Mileage:135555 Color: Changes
Location:

Pagosa Springs, Colorado, United States

Pagosa Springs, Colorado, United States

 Last year of the classic.

Runs great 135,555 miles going up a small amount as a daily driver:

Recent maintenance includes: Double platinum plugs, rotor, cap, wires, coil, fuel filter, electronic ignition pick up & module. Brakes, belts etc. All fluids changed regularly, front and rear differential, transfer case. New rear upper tail gate glass. Has been converted to springs.

Good tires & interior. "One of a Kind" paint. Original was "Beluga Black", but it was faded on the roof and cowling. I had it repainted closer to the rover "Bonetti Grey" or Sterling.

Has never left me stranded and I would not hesitate to drive it across country today. This is a legendary overland vehicle. Known world wide for its capability and class.

History shows:
Delivered in New York in 1995 then owned by an attorney for most of its life in Telluride,Colorado. Lots of early service history from the Roaring Forks Land Rover Dealership in Glenwood Springs. I have owned it for several years and had all work and maintenance done while planning to keep it long term as a daily driver. I have it listed because we have another project in mind. I have looked far and wide for a clean 95 LWB and as you may know they are becoming difficult to find.

Thanks for looking and feel free to contact me to request pictures and more details. If you are looking for a 95 LWB Classic you won't see another one like this on the road.

Introduction: rangerovers.net

1995 was a transitional year for the Range Rover. Land Rover of North America started selling Classic LWBs as 1995 models in March 1994! Meanwhile the new model was gearing up for production, and when the calendar year 1995 actually arrived the short wheelbase version of the Classic remained on sale beside it (although relatively few were actually sold compared with the new one, and Classic production ceased altogether at the beginning of 1996). Another notable aspect of this model year was the adoption of more mechanical and body parts from the Discovery. Even the dash layout was changed to resemble the Discovery, somewhat reducing the Range Rover's distinctiveness even though many feel the revised design was superior!

Base Price $52,500 LWB and $45,625 SWB the only options were:

Curb Weight 4,628 lbs. SWB 4,807 lbs. LWB

Gross Vehicle Weight 6019 lbs. (SWB and LWB)

Powertrain Changes:
Both the 4.2L and the 3.9L got one serpentine belt replacing the separate drive belts on the alternator, PS pump and Air conditioner compressor. The air filter was changed and a new square plastic air filter enclosure replaced the round metal one to reduce intake noise on both engines. Cylinder head and valley cover gaskets were improved. A new two piece drive shaft was added.

All air conditioning systems now CFC free.

Chassis and Suspension Changes:

95 Classsic rear view frame was modified and energy-absorbing front extensions ("crush cans") were added to the front of the chassis rails. Side impact beams were added to the front doors (and rear doors on the LWB).

Improved body and chassis isolation

Exterior Changes:

Rubber bumpers added to cover the front extensions ("crush cans") at the front of the chassis rails on the now SRS compatible chrome front bumper

Accessories offered by the dealers included: A new dual airbag (SRS) compatible wrap around brush bar and heavy duty roof rack.

Front windshield was different, due to the new dash

Interior Changes:

Harmon Kardon 160 watt stereo 6 with disk CD changer (CD changer optional on County SWB), eight speakers and a subwoofer with separate dash mounted subwoofer control.

Revised door panels to accommodate the new Harmon Kardon speakers

High range speakers moved from the doors to the windshield pillars like on the Discovery

New tilt steering wheel with drivers side airbag and centrally-located horn, passenger side air bag in dash

Totally redesigned dash similar to the one on the Discovery, with lighted ignition switch, passenger side glove box and built in cup holders.

The Range Rover dash was different from the Discovery in that it had an analog clock and wood trim

Transfer case shift knob and boot now black .

Automatic climate control with separate rotary temp controls for driver and passenger.

New heater box

New multi function steering column stalks similar to those on the Rover 800 sedan

Center console shift lever and cubby box were redesigned

Center console controls now back lit

Jaguar SUV mule doing Ring testing in Evoque clothes

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Jaguar has moved its Range Rover Evoque-bodied tests of the production C-X17 Concept from icy streets to the legendary Nürburgring, as work continues on the brand's first SUV.
Really, there's not a great deal of new stuff here. Based on the number plates, this is a different vehicle from the one we saw back in March, which we originally identified as the upcoming replacement for the Land Rover Freelander/LR2. The details, though, appear largely the same. The biggest distinction we can see between the March tests and this are the US-spec headlights, which add amber reflectors at their sides. Based on these shots, it does seem as if the C-X17 should be a fairly poised road vehicle, as the engineers hustle it around the 'Ring.
Of course, as soon our spies can capture images of a production-bodied C-X17, we'll be sure to pass those on to you. Until then, take a look up top for images of the Range Rover-bodied Jaguar as it tests at Germany's Nürburgring. You can also scroll down for our March images for the C-X17 mules testing on public roads.

Jaguar Land Rover offers (some) detail about new Ingenium engine

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Jaguar Land Rover officially announced its Ingenium family of engines with the unveiling of the 2.0-liter version in the Jaguar XE concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, but it kept details very thin at the time. All we knew was that the new turbocharged mills could be configured to use gasoline or diesel, and be positioned longitudinally or transversely. Months later, JLR is finally letting some more info slip about its new baby, but there are still some big questions to be answered.
For the Ingenium project, Jaguar Land Rover gave its engineers a clean sheet of paper and told them not to worry about using any previous parts or machinery. In the end, the designers came up with a family of turbocharged, aluminum-block engines based around modular, 500cc cylinders to allow it to grow or shrink as the market demanded. The layout was also made adaptable enough to incorporate hybrid drivetrains, if needed. "Being configurable and flexible are the two key strands of Ingenium's DNA because we have future-proofed our new engines from the outset," said said Ron Lee, the company's director of Powertrain Engineering.
To maximize efficiency, Jaguar promises that all versions of the Ingenium engines come with computer-controlled, variable oil pumps and water pumps to use only as much energy as needed. They also get direct injection, roller bearings for the cams and stop/start. The diesel version alone has 17 percent less internal friction than the mill it replaces, the company claims. JLR is also promising class-leading figures for Ingenium's torque and horsepower too, but it's not giving away those specs just yet.

Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.
