I am selling my rare 1999 Range Rover Callaway. It has managed to hold up well over the years. Its stately appearance inside out still gets compliments. These special rovers were shipped to Callaway performance in Connecticut for performance work boosting the power and drivetrain. For specifics you can search for Callaway Range Rover, the Callaway website will pop up with all the specs. It runs and drives well but there are a few common rover problems, including a slipped liner in the engine. For those unfamiliar with this condition, the cylinder sleeve will start to tap when the engine reaches operating temperature. It is more of a nuisance due to the tap. Rover drivers as well as myself have driven their rovers with slipped liners thousands of miles without any failure. Simple solution is to pin the liners. Second issue is that the viscous coupling in the transfer case has seized up, so it does not slip as it normally should. A quick fix that was performed so the truck is still 100% drivable is to remove the front propeller shaft, which will come with the purchase of this truck. My local salvage yard will sell these complete transfer cases for 200, which will come with a functioning viscous coupling, which is easily swapped into the Callaway transfer case without removing it from the truck. Send another 200 and i'll pick one up from the salvage yard if you want. The climate control works, but the display dosnt really work as you can see in the picture, the vents do blow cold air with AC but i feel it should be colder and blow harder. The AC compressor cycles like it needs a charge.

The severity of the above problems are purely subjective since the truck as it sits runs and drives 100%. I've taken it for 15+ hour trips in this condition without any problems, sometimes the slipped liner settles and will be quiet for a while, but most of the time you can hear it. The truck looks pretty good, some hazing on the hood but can be buffed out, i did it once when almost a year ago and it looked great. The hood has some minor dents from someone sitting on it i think. Lastly, the previous owner had a high end Alpine Navigation entertainment system installed as well as had the air suspension converted to coil springs.

Jaguar Land Rover building new R&D center for hybrids, EVs, autonomous cars

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

The success of Jaguar Land Rover in recent years has largely been down to a resurgent product lineup, but a recent move into the research and development will see the British-based, Indian-owned brands take the fight to its German rivals more aggressively than ever before.
JLR is investing 50 million pounds ($80,345,000, as of this writing) in a joint R&D center in central England. The move will more than triple its staff dedicated to research, from 150 to 500, with Wolfgang Epple, JLR's Director of Research and Technology telling Automotive News Europe, "In order to play among the big animals in automotive and to be anchored in the mind of customers you have to have offered something unique, to be first in market. We want to be one of the key premier automotive manufacturers."
Jaguar Land Rover's 50-million-pound contribution represents more than half of the 94-million-pound tab, on the so-called National Automotive Innovation Campus. Based at Warwick University, Tata's European Technical Center, Warwick Manufacturing Group and the Higher Education Funding Council, an agency of the British government, are all chipping in for the facility.

Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
The official press release is posted below.

Jaguar appoints Joe Eberhardt as North American President

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

Jaguar Land Rover North America has appointed a new president, Joachim Eberhardt. The German exec, 50, had previously done stints at Chrysler Group, DaimlerChrysler UK, Mercedes-Benz USA and Daimler-Benz.
Eberhardt joins JLR NA in a good, but challenging time for the company. It's fresh off the launch of the Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F-Type, which have been subject to rave reviews, and its overall sales are up 21 percent over 2012. Still, as Automotive News points out, the two manufacturers face a fight to become the equal of A-list competitors like BMW and Mercedes in the eyes of consumers.
"Joe brings a proven industry track record and valuable global leadership experience in luxury sales, service and marketing. We look forward to Joe leading our North American team in working with our retail networks to further grow the business and better serve our customers," JLR's group sales operations director, Andy Goss, said.
