Iphone/ipod/Bluetooth Black on Tan 2003 Range Rover HSE (BMW V8 Engine) Java Black with Parrot Blue Tooth, hands free calling/music playing/ through stereo, iPod/iPhone charger and player by cable (through center counsel) or Bluetooth, Harmon Kardon Logic 7 sounds great with Bluetooth stream or on call with dual microphones I had installed. Unlike other RR stereo upgrades, stereo still has original working NAV, radio, and other computer features like MPG/trip etc, multi disc CD player was disabled to make way for Bluetooth / iPod.

No rust and paint condition looks closer to a 50k car. This truck was garaged 95%+ of time, driven on highways longer distances, and rarely if ever had rear passengers (rear seats look new, front passenger seat looks like 25k miles).

Tons of snappy power, no oil burn or leak, no fluid leaks. New looking fabric mats. Does NOT need tires, brakes, pads, exhaust, etc. Is due for an oil change, other than that you can drive it across country tomorrow. Has tow hitch doesn’t appear used. No dents, some scratches from garage, hard to see in pictures or even in person. One small (<5”) area of discoloration on paint again hard to see even 3 feet from car. 2 keys and manual.

I’m addressing all that is right and wrong with this car, if you were to see 2003-2005 RR with even half has many miles you would either have these same problems or need to fix far more. Ask any of the RR listed if these areas mentioned below work or condition. If you see and drive this one in person you will see why it is in better shape than 90% of similar year RRs. Dash is perfect/no cracks. I have optional removable cigar ashtray.

During the last 15k miles, in addition to regular maintenance, replaced many items that are often bad on older RR:

- Dashboard (unlike most older ones – NO pixels are out, important since RR use alert area for all sorts of notices
- Most oil related gaskets (timing chain cover, oil pan, valley pan, valve cover) replaced
- Most oil related hoses replaced
- Height control compressor replaced and reset
- Driver’s seat arm rest replaced (always look terrible/crushed on older RR which is why they are flipped up in pictures)

- Lower control arms replaced
- All tires replaced 12k miles ago / rebalanced / alignment done again 7k miles ago
- Interior air temperature sensor
- Replaced worn out looking “Range” letters from back (most 03s are mis colored by now)

In general everything works on this truck nothing currently needs fixing - no lights on dash, AC is very cold, drives / parks level height control works up, highway, regular, and creep mode.

The only notable problems are (everything else works as it should):

1) Driver seat is worn where you slide in / out as it is on all RR this era by now.

2) Rear view mirror somewhat loose on driver’s side (does not shake at high speed) and doesn’t always pop out from reverse to the proper angle but can be adjusted inside by pressing the button that pushes mirrors in and out

3) Steering wheel adjustment motor doesn’t work. It happens to be perfect for me (6’ tall) so I didn’t fix it as this is somewhat expensive to repair.

4) Interior fabric is off roof in parts but it’s even and barely noticeable and b/c of various parts on roof wont’ fall more.

5) At low RPMs with foot lightly on gas you can sometimes hear a vibration sound. This has been going on for years and hasn’t gotten worse and my mechanic says many of them do this and it is nothing to be alarmed about or try to fix. In general the transmission shifts perfectly. The recall these RR years had related to driveshaft problems you may have read about was already fixed years ago by RR dealer.

6) Steering wheel is a little rough (not as bad as many listed here) and plastic coating is rubbed off in parts. In general plastic coating is a weak link on this era both on wheel and center counsel, this one is better than most, look close at other pics

7) Steering wheel heater works but seems to be mostly on lower left side of wheel where it gets quite hot to touch while most of wheel is still barely warm. In general if you want to make this car look new I’d replace steering wheel even though all button features on wheel work fine except level adjustment and heat issue mentioned

8) Both keys work but plastic buttons are worn out – a common problem.

Bottom line, this truck needs nothing now to use and drives / looks like a RR with 50K miles and can be made 100% for less than most older RR need just to get the dash light warnings off (or even visible with missing pixels on older dashes).

The difference between this and a $2k cheaper RR is not needing $8k+ in work in next few months to be usable and not just photograph ok. I know I spent over 10k in a year getting this one right.

I’m available to show you the car most days/weekends (except Thursday & Friday). You should compare in person this one to others from 2003-2005 and you will see the difference.

European automakers gear up for Brazilian production

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

Brazil is the place to be, apparently. Toyota has been investing in the South American country, as has BMW, which announced a $261 million investment in October 2012, on the heels of an Audi factory announcement in San José Chiapa. The high-end immigration is only set to continue, as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have both announced plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
Mercedes is the big news here, as its new facility will see the German manufacturer invest 170-million euros for production of its next-generation C-Class and upcoming GLA-Class. "Brazil is an important future market. With our local production we accept the challenge and take on the competition," noted Andreas Renschler, Management Board member for Production and Procurement at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans. Production is expected to begin by 2016.
Jaguar-Land Rover, meanwhile, isn't so concrete in its plans. The news of its investment in South America comes from a job posting for a plant quality manager in Brazil that was picked up by the UK's AutoCar. "Portuguese language skills will be definite advantage" for interested candidates, according to the job listing. The want ad follows on the heels of remarks by Jaguar Land Rover's Dr. Ralph Speth, who said there are "very intensive discussions" with Brazil's government. Unlike Mercedes, there's no mention of which vehicles will be produced in South America, although AutoCar thinks the Freelander, sold in the US as the LR2, is a leading contender.

Is Jaguar's 3 Series-fighter the brand's last chance?

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

The upcoming line of compact 3 Series-fighters from Jaguar, often referred to as the Jaguar XS, could consist of a sedan, wagon and possibly a coupe and GT model (think BMW 5 Series GT). The car's all-aluminum architecture also will provide the basis for two new sports utility vehicles. Just how important is the much-touted "baby Jag" project to parent company Jaguar Land Rover? A JLR executive reportedly says the brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS, codenamed X760, Autocar reports.
The brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS.
"If the X760 fails, it will probably be the end for the [Jaguar] brand," the executive says. But Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, claims Jaguar will "build the most advanced, most efficient, most refined car in that [compact luxury sedan] segment. Not almost as good as, but better than the best in the world."

Jaguar SUV mule doing Ring testing in Evoque clothes

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Jaguar has moved its Range Rover Evoque-bodied tests of the production C-X17 Concept from icy streets to the legendary Nürburgring, as work continues on the brand's first SUV.
Really, there's not a great deal of new stuff here. Based on the number plates, this is a different vehicle from the one we saw back in March, which we originally identified as the upcoming replacement for the Land Rover Freelander/LR2. The details, though, appear largely the same. The biggest distinction we can see between the March tests and this are the US-spec headlights, which add amber reflectors at their sides. Based on these shots, it does seem as if the C-X17 should be a fairly poised road vehicle, as the engineers hustle it around the 'Ring.
Of course, as soon our spies can capture images of a production-bodied C-X17, we'll be sure to pass those on to you. Until then, take a look up top for images of the Range Rover-bodied Jaguar as it tests at Germany's Nürburgring. You can also scroll down for our March images for the C-X17 mules testing on public roads.
