1956 Ford vintage and classic F-250 4 speed. I acquired this truck with the intention to fix it up but that didn't work out. I don't have a garage or adequate place to work on it. So here's your chance to pick up a very solid truck for restoration or customizing.<br>
<br>
Has clean California title registered through Jan 2015. Includes a new factory repair manual and truck cover.<br>
<br>
The body is virtually rust free (some surface rust) with some bondo. VERY solid cab, doors, fenders, hood, frame. Looks like the cab floor might have been replaced or sandblasted. It has the original seat and gas tank which are not pictured here. Front bumper is missing, though readily available, and the rear bumper was customized. The bed has been lined with aluminum panels.<br>
<br>
It doesn't run and has a Lincoln engine which appears to be an optional engine of that era. Some heavy duty trucks have a Y-Block which where for both Ford, Mercury and Lincoln. From what I understand these were hot rod motors of their time. The casting number on the intake manifold shows it is a ECU series.<br>
<br>
The transmission is a full synchro 4 speed with some letters in the middle of the shifter knob I don't know. Might have overdrive if this trans was out of a heavy duty Ford. The brakes feel like they still work. Lots of original parts still on the truck.<br>
<br>
It has an 8 lug rear end installed which probably wasn't stock, since I'm guessing it is a 1 ton rear end and this is a 3/4 ton. I do know where I can pick up a rear end out of a 1957 1/2 ton if need be. Also installed is an auxiliary gas tank underneath the rear of the bed. It is a very sanitary installation.<br>
<br>
Has most of the original dash parts and the cab is in good condition. The hood has been modified which for an original restoration would need to be changed back but for a rodder would be perfect in that it slides and tilts forward - no head banging.<br>
<br>
<b>Cash only and no trades</b>. You pick it up, no delivery available.

This Lexus hybrid will paint your self-portrait while you drive

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

To encourage better driving habits, some hybrids use leaves or tree graphics to portray how efficient or inefficiently a driver is, but Lexus has come up with a more unique method of relaying this information. For its Art Is Motion campaign, Lexus has equipped a Lexus IS300h with special software that enables the car to paint a portrait of the driver by combining the skills of generative artist Sergio Albiac with specific inputs from the driver.
A regular photograph is uploaded into the system, but the portrait will vary depending on how the car is driven. Using vehicle speed, engine speed and how often the hybrid system is used, the driver "paints" a self-portrait via the software that has cloned Albaic's creative process, which then shows up on the car's center display screen. If the driver is more cautious and maximizes electric driving, the image will be clear (as shown above), but if the driver accelerates heavily, the picture becomes more abstract. Similarly, slower speeds result in "colder" colors while higher speeds use "virulent" colors - perhaps signifying this type of driving isn't healthy for the environment.
For now, Lexus has only created one Art Is Motion IS300h, and it plans to auction off this car in the future. Lexus released three videos, which are all posted below, to show off this car, but there is no additional information yet about the auction.

Mazda and Lexus crowned with KBB 5-Year Cost To Own awards

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

We report on a lot of awards, some of which are given out based on more solid criteria than others. This one, the Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own awards, seems like one that new car shoppers should pay attention to.
The cost of a car goes far beyond what you pay for the actual metal, leather and rubber at the point of purchase. Fuel, insurance, maintenance and repair costs, and the cost of fees from the state and financing will all weigh on your wallet while you own the car. That's not even taking into account the biggest cost: depreciation, or the amount of money you lose based on what your car is worth years from now versus the day you bought it.
KBB tracks these sorts of things, and they've compiled a list of winners for 2013 models. On the brand level, Mazda and Lexus earn the 5-Year Cost to Own award for having the lowest overall projected five-year totals (though, curiously, we note that Mazda and Lexus each had only one segment winner). There are lots of winners for all the various segments, so we'll just pick out a few surprising ones to share and you can view the rest here.

Gazoo heads to the N"urburgring with Lexus LFA Code X

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

You'd be forgiven for thinking just because the Lexus LFA has ended its production run (it's been over a year now) that Toyota would have ceased its development. You'd be forgiven, but Gazoo Racing is here to tell you you'd still be wrong.
One of Toyota's many works racing teams, Gazoo is returning to the 24-hour endurance race at the Nürburgring this year with a trio of entries. One is based on the Toyota GT86 (which we know as the Scion FR-S), and one is essentially the same LFA that it's entered in years past. But the third vehicle is dubbed Code X.
It's also based on the LFA, but its 4.8-liter V10 engine has been bored out to 5.3 liters, raising its output to untold levels. It's got a full carbon-fiber chassis and a range of other enhancements that Gazoo isn't telling us about just yet, but they should turn the LFA Code X from a road-going supercar beyond a racecar and into a rolling research lab. Considering that Gazoo has been racing at the 'Ring since 2007 and fielding versions of the LFA there since 2008, it'll be interesting to see how the Code X version fares.
