1997 Lexus Lx450 Diff Locks Like Land Cruiser on 2040-cars

I bought this Lexus in 2006 and have loved this vehicle. We bought a Sequoia and then sold this to my business but we hardly use it so decided to sell it. Factory Diff Locks Engine and transmission strong and solid. No shakes, drives straight, alignment is great. A/C cold. Antenna works. Stock disc changer does not work. Just noticed that one rear door lock is not working, will need an actuator. New brake pads, rotors and calipers all the way around 6,000 miles ago, cost $1000. Head gasket (fairly common issue with these) was done at 106,000 miles by a local Toyota mechanic I have receipts for these repairs and records for most of the past 8 years since I bought it (had 70,000 miles when I got it) including oil changes etc. The body is in good shape. The only rust is on the running boards which is common. I keep them touched up but they don't look perfect up close. The paint looks great from 10 feet but when you get close you'll see some scratches here and there. The worst part is the hood, which had some apricots from my tree dry on and chipped some of the paint where the sap stuck. Not really noticeable until you get close. Overall it's in great shape. The interior is in good shape - no staining on carpets etc. Some cracking starting on front seats but overall good for age. Driver visor hangs a little but not enough to get in the way. The driver door button that turns off the interior light - when closing the door it doesn't push it in enough so I keep a small piece of rubber on it then it's fine (see photos). Stock Michelin tires are in good shape, about 1/2 tread left. Toyota investing $200M in Southern manufacturing
Sun, 23 Jun 2013Over the past two years, Toyota has invested more than $2 billion at its North American production facilities, and it apparently doesn't plan on stopping there. To keep up with recent strong sales, Toyota is investing an additional $200 million at its engine plants in the Southern US to increase production capacity of its V6 engines.
The bulk of this money ($150 million) will go to expand Toyota's engine plant in Huntsville, AL, which is currently responsible for supplying engines - four-cylinder, V6 and V8 - to eight of Toyota's 12 domestically produced vehicles. That includes the best-selling Toyota Camry (shown above).
Toyota didn't say exactly what improvements are being made to the plant, but this follows last year's $80 million investment in the plant that is set to be completed by next year raising the engine capacity to 750,000 annual units including 362,000 V6s. The remaining $50 million will go to the casting plants of Toyota-owned Bodine Aluminum in Missouri and Tennessee, which supply engine blocks and cylinder heads to the Huntsville engine plant as well as others in Kentucky and West Virginia. 2014 Lexus GX 460
Fri, 20 Dec 2013The Toyota 4Runner has always held a special place in my heart for its boxy styling and off-road prowess, but until now, I never had the chance to drive its more luxurious cousin, the Lexus GX 460. Granted, the GX actually has more in common with the foreign-market Land Cruiser Prado, but all three SUVs ride on the same body-on-frame platform.
Originally an answer to the luxury SUV craze from the early 2000s, the GX hasn't changed all that much since its introduction more than a decade ago. It's a big SUV with plenty of space and crammed with just about all the luxuriousness Lexus could fit into a 12-year-old vehicle, but, more importantly, it still has the chops to go places many vehicles in its segment wouldn't dare venture. And just for good measure, Lexus tacked on its new signature spindle grille in what has to be its most pronounced appearance yet.
I've had a chance to drive most of the latest Lexus products (including the IS, ES and GS) to see just how competitive Toyota's luxury arm has gotten in recent years, but after spending a week with the 2014 GX 460, it's refreshing that, for now, Lexus has resisted the urge to follow some of its rivals in replacing rugged, body-on-frame SUVs with softer, car-based crossovers.
2014 Lexus GS gets eight-speed auto, other enhancements
Thu, 26 Sep 2013The Lexus GS was totally redesigned for the 2013 model year, but Lexus is already tweaking its midsize luxury sedan. While a handful of small changes are being made, the big news for the 2014 model year is that rear-wheel-drive GS350 models will be getting a new eight-speed automatic transmission for improved fuel economy and performance.
Official EPA estimates have yet to be released, but Lexus expects this new transmission to return 19 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway - an improvement of 1 mpg highway. The GS450h still uses a continuously variable transmission, but Lexus says that it has been optimized to mimic the shift points of an eight-speed automatic. The final powertrain change made to the 2014 Lexus GS include tweaks to the GS350's engine intake and exhaust systems, which should help give the sedan a sportier feel.
Inside, Lexus has added Siri Eyes Free inside both the GS350 and GS450h, which allows drivers to use their iPhone's Siri voice assistant simply by pushing a button on the steering wheel. Other changes include a new full-color head-up display, and an available power trunk opener. A new Luxury Package adds LED fog lights, 18-inch "superchrome" wheels on the GS350 and 18-inch graphite-finish wheels on the GS450h. Interesting, the optional Lexus Night View system has been dropped.
