1992 Lexus Sc400 Base Coupe 2-door 4.0l No Reserve! on 2040-cars

Year:1992 Mileage:297123
Location:

Lithia, Florida, United States

Lithia, Florida, United States

You are bidding on a VERY rare Lexus SC400. This vehicle was one of the first to arrive to the United States from Japan. To prove that, the steering wheel has a "Griffin" instead of the standard "L" from Lexus. This automobile is known as a "Soarer" in Japan & the Japanese actually lost money on the car as it was their entrance into the "High End" car market in the U.S. These cars are highly valued for people that are into "Drifting." I want to make this easy so, here are the upsides and downsides:
UPSIDES:
Brand new tires with less then 100 miles on them
New brakes within the last year
Replaced A/C compressor within the last year and the air blows COLD!
New transmission installed less then 8 months ago along with a power steering pump.
The car has been meticulously taken care of with proper Synthetic Oil Changes and Tire Rotations.
The interior is in good condition as the only defects are with the front passenger seat.
Has Borla exhaust system.
Everything works, sunroof, electric antennae, gauges, etc.
The engine runs STRONG and has no issues whatsoever.
Lastly, I have all the receipts from the last 4 years as I am the third owner of the car.
Viper Remote keyless entry & starting anti-theft system

DOWNSIDES:
They car grew up on Ohio and the salt (from the winter months) has taken a toll on the undercarriage and the right side of the back rear of the car.
The Trac Control and Engine Light comes on sporadically as a sensor needs replaced under the exhaust (which is difficult due to the corrosion).
The stereo amplifier is only operating for one side of the speakers and the multi-disc changer is not functioning properly.
She needs a new rack and pinion system as the steering, sporadically, gets difficult...but not often. This can take a toll on the wear of the tires if not corrected.

ANY QUESTIONS...PLEASE CONTACT ME! I don't sell cars for a living and have a 100% positive feedback on Ebay and would like to keep it that way. IF you live in the area, please feel free to come and view/drive the car. I have been as honest and forthright as i can about this vehicle. It is being sold "as is" and listed on other websites and reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
Thanks and happy bidding!
Jake

2013 Lexus ES earns five stars from NHTSA

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

The 2013 Lexus ES has earned a five-star crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2013 ES 350 and ES 300h hybrid earned the highest ratings in each of the government's crash evaluations, including overall driver safety, frontal crashes and overall side impacts, save one. The sedan only achieved a four-star rating in the NHTSA rollover protection test, but that fault wasn't enough to keep the vehicle from earning a five-star designation overall.
The announcement doesn't mention the recent Consumer Reports claim that the ES comes with a faulty emergency trunk release that can be easily broken in a panic situation.
As you may recall, the 2013 ES 350 carries an MSRP of $36,100, plus an $895 destination fee and offers buyers a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 good for 248 pound-feet of torque, as well. The ES 300h, meanwhile, stickers at $38,850 plus the same destination charge.

Toyota and Lexus show off advanced safety research vehicle [w/video]

Tue, 08 Jan 2013

While Google and Audi explore the possibilities of autonomous vehicles, Toyota and its Lexus division are studying the intermediate step of vehicles equipped with a deep suite of technology that help drivers make the best decisions. Introduced at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Lexus advanced safety research vehicle is an LS sedan fitted with three high-def color cameras to detect objects up to almost 500 feet away, 360-degree Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) lasers that can detect objects up to 220 feet away, three radar units to keep track of other vehicles at intersections, a precision odometer on the rear wheel, GPS that estimates orientation and an accelerometer.
Currently testing at a purpose-built 8.6 acre urban testing ground at the Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Susono, Japan the Toyota research vehicle is being used to study how to make better drivers, as well as figuring out how to reduce crashes as the industry's journey through passive and active safety systems progresses. In the event of a crash, new rescue systems are also being tested.
Further investment is being put into the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) that would use shortwave signals to harness information from the car and from other vehicles on the road, as well as roadside infrastructure and even pedestrians. Toyota reasons it could then build a picture of interactions and, for instance, alert the driver to a potential collision at a blind intersection.

Mazda and Lexus crowned with KBB 5-Year Cost To Own awards

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

We report on a lot of awards, some of which are given out based on more solid criteria than others. This one, the Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own awards, seems like one that new car shoppers should pay attention to.
The cost of a car goes far beyond what you pay for the actual metal, leather and rubber at the point of purchase. Fuel, insurance, maintenance and repair costs, and the cost of fees from the state and financing will all weigh on your wallet while you own the car. That's not even taking into account the biggest cost: depreciation, or the amount of money you lose based on what your car is worth years from now versus the day you bought it.
KBB tracks these sorts of things, and they've compiled a list of winners for 2013 models. On the brand level, Mazda and Lexus earn the 5-Year Cost to Own award for having the lowest overall projected five-year totals (though, curiously, we note that Mazda and Lexus each had only one segment winner). There are lots of winners for all the various segments, so we'll just pick out a few surprising ones to share and you can view the rest here.
