96 Lexus Sc300 468hp 2jz Engine Precision Twin Ball Bearing Turbo Body Kit Rims on 2040-cars
Sterling, Illinois, United States
1996 Lexus SC300 468 HP Custom
This is one of the fastest SC300’s you will find! The heart of this wicked beast is a 2JZ engine that has been retrofitted with a Precision twin ball bearing turbo which has been dyno tuned and is putting 468hp to the rear wheels. It was just tuned and runs incredibly. You will find that this is a top of the line build and the car has been fitted with high pressure fuel injectors, a high pressure fuel pump, a turbo timer and an AEM engine management system. Getting the power to the rear end is a snap with its Stage II racing clutch and it sounds just plain nasty ripping through its Flowmaster performance exhaust system. The car was lowered 2 inches and currently rides on TIEN adjustable coil over damper shocks with a stabilizer bar. The brakes were upgraded with cross drilled and slotted rotors and it has all stainless steel brake lines. In addition to all of the performance upgrades you will also find the wood has been removed from the interior and replaced with carbon fiber parts including the rear package tray. The seats have brand new leather and cushions and the stereo has been upgraded with Rockford Fosgate speakers, amps and a sub. The thing that really sets this car off is the custom body kit with hood scoop which has been blended in so well it looks like it came from the factory. Not only is the body work perfect but the paint is a flawless House of colors black with red metallic that perfectly compliments the red carbon fiber racing stripe that gradually fades into real looking flames on both ends. The custom forged MB Motorsport wheels were painted to match as well and are wrapped in a new set of Goodyear F1 tires. All said and done over $30,000 was spent to customize this car less than 2,000 miles ago and that did not include the original cost of the car. If you are in the market for a fast and reliable toy you will be hard pressed to find a better value than this one. If you like what you see don’t wait till it’s gone to call! Price reduced to $17,900 Offers still considered! **************************************************************************************************************************************************** Additional pictures and a video of the engine running are available on our website. Toyota wants improved crash scores with midcycle facelifts
Thu, 29 Aug 2013The performances of some Toyotas in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) regimen of crash tests leave something to be desired. Consider the small overlap frontal crash test: only six Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles have undergone the new test, yet all but one of them received a poor rating. Osama Nagata, CEO of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America Inc., says midcycle vehicle updates are in the works to address the safety issues brought to light by the IIHS test, Automotive News reports. He confirmed that the RAV4 is getting safety updates following its crash test performance last month, but he didn't name any other models.
All three Toyotas that were tested - 2013 RAV4, 2012-2013 Prius V, 2012-2013 Camry - received poor ratings. The 2007-2012 Lexus ES 350 and 2006-2013 IS 250/350 also received poor ratings. The only other Toyota Motor Corp. vehicle to score better than poor is the 2014 Scion TC. It received an acceptable rating in the small overlap frontal crash test and is the only recent vehicle in Toyota's line-up to get the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.
The small overlap front crash test measures the safety of a car when its front left corner is strikes an object during an accident, bypassing traditional crumple zones, which deform in a way to protect passengers. In 2009, automakers were alerted to the forthcoming addition of the test, which was first implemented last year, IIHS spokesman Russ Rader says. They responded with differing intensity, he says, pointing out that Subaru and Honda started incorporating design changes early on so their cars would perform well in the tests.
Lexus hints at possible IS SportCross comeback [w/poll]
Thu, 10 Jan 2013We're looking forward to seeing the 2014 Lexus IS in person next week at the Detroit Auto Show to see if its brazen design is any less polarizing in person, but Lexus (or at least its Facebook team) has dropped a not-too-subtle hint about the possible return of the SportCross body style - something in between a hatchback and station wagon. The current generation IS comes in sedan and convertible models, but this is an interesting teaser that might suggest an expanded IS lineup.
On its Facebook page, Lexus said:
Do you remember the '02 IS 300 Sport Cross with its style, utility and performance? Will we bring it back? Watch the 2014 IS premiere on Facebook in 6 days to find out!
Vice chronicles Okinawa's illegal street racing scene
Mon, 10 Mar 2014We all know that street racing is dangerous, and that motorsports are best left on the track or drag strip. However, that doesn't mean that there still isn't some outlaw allure among enthusiasts of racing on public roads. In this video, Vice Japan profiles Eikichi Nagayoshi of Japan's island of Okinawa. He is a used car dealer by day and an illegal racer by night.
Nagayoshi has a deep love for his highly customized Toyota Aristo (better known to us as a first-generation Lexus GS) that he claims produces over 1,000 horsepower and has hit 205 miles per hour. He races his car both on drag strips and in drifting competitions, but says that he often has to ship the car to mainland Japan to compete. In the absence of those opportunities, he sometimes gathers friends and takes the racing to the public roads. While we're not down with street racing, this Vice video is an intriguing personality piece, as well as a look into Japan's fabled underground racing scene. Scroll down to check out the video, but make sure you have the "CC" button clicked, because several portions are subtitled.
