***1968 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL SEDAN SURVIVOR ONE FAMILY OWNED OVER 40 YEARS***
***RUNS DRIVES FINE --- BLACK PAINT BLACK VINYL TOP RED LEATHER***

This is a 1968 Lincoln Continental four door sedan that the owner asked me to list. The car was bought from a car dealer in 1969 or 1970 by his mother. She drove the car until 2008 when she passed away; then her son inherited it. The car has always been garaged until recently. The owner has lost storage so he has decided to sell this car. It has been repainted one time. The interior, trim, chrome, engine, etc is all original. The cosmetics have aged but are still presentable. Engine fires right up and runs fine. Everything works on the car except the AC which needs a charge. The radio antenna goes up when the radio is turned on and the gas gauge works. Car has the original floor mats and owner's manual. It has a couple of small dents and a little bit of rust starting on the rear quarters - look at the photos. This car is priced to sell. If you would like to look at the car, go for a ride or talk to the owner just email for his phone number.

Car is black with a black vinyl top and has red leather interior.

It still has the original hub caps on P235X75X15 tires.

It has the famous doors with the rear ones opening from the front.

It was garaged since purchased until recently. Floors are solid.

You may not be able to see them but there are ground straps under the car that have been there since it was purchased by the current owner's mother back in 69 or 70. At that time the car had 20K miles on it. The car dealer told them the car was owned by a railroad executive and the car had a phone with a large box in the trunk. The ground straps were needed for it.

She's a beauty - trunk opens and closes easily as does the hood.

Interior is the original red leather.

Plenty of room for everyone

Yes, the original leather has aged.

Original carpet is in really great condition.

Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.

GM design boss Welburn says Lincoln isn't a Cadillac rival [w/poll]

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

General Motors Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn, had some dismissive words for a certain cross-town luxury brand during an interview with Car and Driver. When asked about his thoughts on Lincoln, Welburn deflected, before saying, "I don't consider Lincoln to be a competitor for Cadillac."
"They're not a global luxury brand. I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," GM's head designer explained. Welburn, who's been at the helm of GM Design North America since 2003 and is the first to hold the position of VP of Global Design, has been instrumental in the styling renaissance at GM, so predictably, Car and Driver's interview with him focused on the design aspect of cars.
During the interview, Welburn explicitly denied plans for a reborn Cadillac XLR, even as a new Chevrolet Corvette is hitting the market and strides are being made with Cadillac's V-Series performance arm saying, "We have a lot of cars that we're working on for the Cadillac brand. The XLR is not one of them right now."

Lincoln takes to the Super Bowl with Twitter schizophrenia

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

Lincoln has officially pulled off the wraps on its ad for this year's Super Bowl. As you may recall, the company invited people to send in their tweets to help craft the spot's story line with Jimmy Fallon in the director's chair. The company chose five tweets and ran with them, and the result is, well, about as focused as your average online comment thread. We do get plenty of shots of the all-new Lincoln MKZ, as well as at least one comment on the interior leather's suppleness.
Do we learn a single thing about the brand's new honey? Nope. But there's a turtle crossing, a band of bikers, a German farming student and herd of alpacas. Mostly, the ad just makes us tired. You can check out the full spot before it airs during the big game by watching it below. We'll be busy preparing for the alpacalypse.
AOL Autos' associate editor Peter Bigelow went deeper in his criticism. Have a read: Lincoln's Super Bowl Ad is A Flop.
