1983 Lincoln Continental Mark 6 Coupe.

Mechanically..... The engine runs well, but the transmission is sluggish. It shifts out, but takes awhile to shift out of low gear when its cold. I was told it could be a clogged filter or possibly a vacuum leak. I don't want to put any money into it so we are selling it AS IS. At worst it would need a transmission, but I believe its a common inexpensive C6. It has a newer battery and has always started for me.

The body......is in good shape for a 30 year old car. I think it was possibly an older repaint. The paint does shine and look good from 10 foot, but if you get close it has some orange peel. Its NOT a show car, but a respectable driver. All the wire hubcaps are there and match. The tires are very good all the way around. The AC blows cold, but the compressor makes a little noise. You have to open the hood to hear it. Everything seems to work except the gas gauge. The drivers window works great, but the passenger side needs help up and down as does the power lock also. The power antenna goes up but only goes down half way. The vinyl top has started to crack and has "stars" all over it. And NO.....the car is not wet in the pictures. Its that shiny!!!

The interior is very nice for its age. No huge rips or tears in the leather. The dash is also free of any cracks. It does have an aftermarket CD player installed, but it was done correctly. The headliner is in tack and does not sag. The door panels are all in good shape as well.

Overall the car is in great shape for its age. It has sat for awhile and needs a little TLC, but it does run and drive. Its a great start to a weekend cruiser or to the golf course!  Not many left around in this condition.

This car is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end the auction and cancel all bids at any time in the event the car sells locally.

Ellen DeGeneres sends up Matthew McConaughey's Lincoln ad

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Lincoln had to have known that when it released its new ad campaign for the new MKC with Matthew McConaughey, it would open itself up to a bit of good old fashioned ridicule. The television commercial was, after all, good for a laugh or two. And true to their mission, talk show hosts haven't missed the opportunity to have a little fun at Lincoln's and McConaughey's expense.
Conan O'Brien was first to send up the television spot, but now Ellen DeGeneres has taken a stab at it too, superimposing herself in the back seat of the compact luxury crossover, downing some pot brownies and generally playing Costello to McConaughey's Abbott. It's worth a watch, if only to see Ellen getting down in her usual, offbeat style.

Lincoln to adopt Mini-like personalization strategy?

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

There's no single silver bullet that will cure all that ails the Lincoln brand, and Ford knows that just as surely as we do. Coming out with exciting new models like the well-received MKC crossover counts as several steps in the right direction, assuming of course that the production version is as appealing as the concept just shown at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, but more is needed. According to Jim Farley, executive vice president of Lincoln, one more trick may be "mass customization."
Put another way, Lincoln is considering ways to allow buyers to customize their new vehicles right off the showroom floor, similar to how things are done at Mini, and, to a lesser extent, Scion, where Farley previously served as corporate manager. Imagine, for instance, ordering a new MKC with a large Lincoln insignia embossed into the leather seatbacks, according to Automotive News.
While we're not so sure anybody is all that interested in paying extra for more Lincoln logos, it's a strategy that has proven rather fruitful at Mini. Only time will tell if Ford's erstwhile luxury division will once again be seen as something truly worth reaching for, and if customers are willing to pay a further premium for customization.

Lincoln MKX Concept goes for the gold in Beijing

Sun, 20 Apr 2014

We've now seen the Lincoln MKX Concept in the metal, and we've shot it with the lenses of our own DSLR cameras. And we have to say, our opinion of the concept's design language has improved over our initial reaction. Yes, it's clear that this MKX shares its underpinnings with those of the Ford Edge Concept that we saw in LA, but the changes made by Lincoln stylists are a welcome departure from the angular lines of its corporate cousin from The Blue Oval.
We like the subtlety of the MKX Concept's front fascia, and the lighting elements both front and rear lend a luxurious quality to the crossover's typical two-box proportions. When combined with the smaller MKC that was shown in production form late last year, it's clear to see that Lincoln has a specific design direction that at least seems visually capable of setting it apart from the Ford models with which the brand shares its platforms. Here's hoping there are some Lincoln-specific upgrades underhood...
Have a look at our image gallery of live photos from Beijing above, reread the press release below, and feel free to let us know what you think.
