NR 1973 Lincoln Continental 59,988 miles. NOT RUNNING
This is a no reserve auction. ANY QUESTIONS ASK BEFORE BIDDING! Here's the story: Car turns over fine. Not getting spark. I bought the car 2 years ago with plans of restoring it. Other than doing a little body work not much has happened. Earlier this summer I started tinkering under the hood. When I bought the Lincoln the guy had put in new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points. I put in a charged up battery, put some fresh gas. No go. So I replaced the coil. Still no spark. I really hate to sell this but currently it is just sitting in my yard, under a car cover. The floors and frame are great. The body has some rust here and there, nothing really serious. Vinyl top is shot. I have the hub caps off and fender skirts off and in the car. I have the title. The Lincoln was last inspected in 1995. My plans were to restore. My father had one of these, almost exactly like this one, when I was a small child and I always wanted his to be my first car. Of course - time had its way and that Lincoln (known as the Green Meanie) and it was parked and become history. I have no other info. I'm not a mechanic. You can feel free to ask question, and I'll answer those I know the answers to. Things happen and I don't know when I'll have any $ to put into this beauty. She deserves much more than napping under a car cover in my back yard./> PAYMENT I accept payment via PayPal. If paying via PayPal - I require a non refundable $500 depost. If you want to pay cash upon pick up, this must be discussed prior to bidding. Full payment due 48hrs after auctions end.SHIPPING 100% NO SHIPPING! *** PICK UP MUST HAPPEN WITHIN ONE WEEK OF AUCTIONS END*** I am not dealing w/ any aspects of shipping or handling. If you want this, come pick it up. Lincoln is accessible via a alley w/ limited access. It will need moved from my yard to the alley prior to going on a roll back if that is your plan. All of this will be buyers responsibility. ADDITIONAL INFO As stated in description, this is a used item. All items are sold as is with no warranties or refunds offered. GM design boss Welburn says Lincoln isn't a Cadillac rival [w/poll]
Thu, 05 Dec 2013General Motors Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn, had some dismissive words for a certain cross-town luxury brand during an interview with Car and Driver. When asked about his thoughts on Lincoln, Welburn deflected, before saying, "I don't consider Lincoln to be a competitor for Cadillac."
"They're not a global luxury brand. I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," GM's head designer explained. Welburn, who's been at the helm of GM Design North America since 2003 and is the first to hold the position of VP of Global Design, has been instrumental in the styling renaissance at GM, so predictably, Car and Driver's interview with him focused on the design aspect of cars.
During the interview, Welburn explicitly denied plans for a reborn Cadillac XLR, even as a new Chevrolet Corvette is hitting the market and strides are being made with Cadillac's V-Series performance arm saying, "We have a lot of cars that we're working on for the Cadillac brand. The XLR is not one of them right now."
Ford issues four recalls covering 163k vehicles
Tue, 19 Aug 2014Recalls! 2014 will be forever remembered as the year that automakers went recall crazy, with millions and millions of vehicles adding up to crush previous recall records well before the end of the year. Adding to that tally is Ford, which announced a call-back for 163,000 vehicles.
Leading that charge are the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder engines of the Ford Focus ST and Ford Escape. 160,000 of the 2013 and 2014 models have bad wiring harnesses that can disrupt the signals traveling to the powertrain control module. That, in turn, could lead to a check engine light, reduced power and stalling. Notably, Ford hasn't recalled any other vehicles that feature the 2.0 EcoBoost, such as the Fusion, Taurus or Explorer.
While the Focus ST and Escape constitute the vast majority of recalled vehicles, they aren't the only problem children in the Ford family. 1,300 Transit passenger vans from model year 2015 were recalled due to brake fluid leaks, while another 600 Transit cargo variants were recalled after Ford discovered the windowless sliding doors could come open in the event of a side-impact crash. Dealers will replace the sealing washers on the passenger variants and add a reinforcement plate on the cargo models, The Detroit News reports.
Lincoln trumpets $129M investment, 300 new jobs in Louisville for MKC
Tue, 26 Aug 2014Remember when we used to talk about how close Lincoln was to being axed and how it seemed any day now the Grim Reaper would use it as a car service back to the grave? Last time we did it was, oh, not even a month ago. What a difference 27 days makes: Ford and Lincoln are trumpeting a $129M investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant that builds the MKC.
In July the MKC was the third-best-selling Lincoln of the brand's six offerings, beat by the MKZ and - by a much smaller margin - the MKX. It has sold 2,895 units in the two months it's been on sale, which is more than half the year-to-date sales of the MKS, MKT and Navigator. It's already important, is what we're trying to say, and this is before the Chinese market gets a crack at it later this year.
The money headed to Kentucky will be joined by 300 new workers, another marker in Ford's march to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the US by next year. You can read more about it in the press release below.
