1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Cartier Edition.

Purchased recently in an estate sale. The family told me the man who passed purchased the car in 1979 from Gateway Lincoln Mercury in Sheffield, AL. This car was bought for his wife.  It was always garage kept and properly serviced.  To there knowledge it has never been in any accidents.  It had been sitting in a garage not driven since about 2001 until I purchased it in February of 2013.

Has only 68,000 miles!!

Expect the normal wear and tear of a 34 year old car with 68,000 miles.  The paint, which appears to be original, is in very good condition with only a few minor chips and scratches.  The chrome is in very good condition with some minor dings and scratches.  Doors open and close with ease.  Headlights stay closed even after sitting for a week.   Power windows, headlights, radio, antenna, all lights, power trunk opener, cigarette lighter, 6 way power seats are all fully functional.  Power sunroof is fully functional with no leaks.  There is some deterioration of the rubber seal.

A/C Blows Ice Cold!!

Items that are NOT fully functional: Power locks (passenger side will lock only), cruise control (works sometimes), clock

Engine is the 400 cid V8. It does not drip oil or any other fluids.

Tan Cloth interior is in very good condition.  There is some ware on the driver and passenger armrests. The plastic covering on the woodgrain is pealing of in a few places.  There are no cracks in the dash

The tires have 80% to 90% tread. They are not in perfect balance from sitting for 12 years or more.  The more I drive it the the better they are. The car still drives great but sometimes at low speeds you can feel the tires.  In my opinion is was not enough to replace the tires.

This is a car you can drive anywhere!!

I tried to get detailed pictures of all imperfections.  If you need more send me your email.  You can also contact me at 256-762-8171 if you have any questions.  Leave me a message I will call you back.

Please remember this is a 34 year old car.  I have made every attempt to be honest and truthful about the cars condition.

Please DO NOT Bid if you have no intention of buying this car.

I have a clear AL Title

How the demise of Lincoln's Town Car has kick-started a limo revolution

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

The deaths of the Ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car have meant overhauls of three high-profile American fleets: police, taxi and livery car. Just as police fleets are more open to considering other options and a Nissan van is the new face of the NYC taxi, livery car companies are looking at replacements for the Town Car beyond The Blue Oval. Ford, via Lincoln, has made an MKT Town Car (pictured), but an article in the Detroit News claims "it has failed to win over most of the big limousine companies." The upstarts trying to move in include livery and limo editions of the Cadillac XTS, and livery specifications of the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300.
Each of those challengers, however, faces challenges. The Town Car was a workhorse, American, rear-wheel-drive sedan with plenty of rear legroom. Cadillac has been in the livery space before but with decontented models that were about selling the brand, not its luxury. It is taking the opposite approach with the XTS, pointing out that its livery edition is "contented in the upper half of the XTS range." Still, the CEO of Michigan's largest livery company says "it's quite a bit smaller than what we're used to," and he also prefers rear-wheel drive.
The Chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and American, which matters to some companies, but Chrysler hasn't yet revealed the livery package for it. The livery Avalon marks Toyota's first time getting into that business in the US, a natural step after having done so well with taxi clients and with the Town Car out of the way. Still, the livery client is a different to taxi buyers, so the Avalon could face other soft-touch hurdles.

Lincoln and MKZ propose brand reinvention

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

Lincoln made a rather assertive statement about the future of its products at the 2012 LA Auto Show. Rather than put any new vehicle on display for the first press day, the American premium brand placed a collection of classic cars from its past on the show floor. For the second day, that assortment was replaced with more than a half-dozen examples of the all-new 2013 MKZ. Following that, Lincoln teased a new ad campaign that was in the works, and it appears we now have the first extended promotional video.
Entitled "The Lincoln Motor Company," the spot acts as more of a mission statement, rather than an ad, featuring (once again) cars from Lincoln's past, as well as certain bits of Americana usually reserved for a Levi's ad. The video concluded with Lincoln reintroducing itself to the world, accompanied by a new name: The Lincoln Motor Company.
The video is likely to be the first of many in a large advertising blitz by the automaker, in concert with the rolling-out of the new MKZ. The sedan was the only new vehicle featured in the video, and Lincoln is betting heavily on this "reinvention" to bring customers in to see its new sedan. We want to know what's next. Scroll down to watch the video.

Lincoln MKC spied in final form

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

When the Lincoln MKC Concept debuted back in January, it received fairly positive feedback from both Autoblog editors and readers alike, and this bodes well for the production version of the luxury crossover judging by these latest spy shots. Reader Ivan Lo captured a few pictures of some MKC prototypes driving around with minimal camouflage, which gives us our best look yet at the design of this new Escape-based Lincoln.
Based on the spy shots from back in May, we already knew that the production MKC would sport some real door handles, a little side cladding and bigger door mirrors, but these latest shots also show us that the rear quarter windows have been enlarged and the integrated dual exhaust outlets have been replaced by round pipes. This means that the MKC will retain the concept's narrow headlights and what is arguably Lincoln's best execution of its split-wing grille. Even better, the rear view confirms the stylish horizontal taillights will remain intact, as well as the Audi-like wraparound liftgate. Since the entire taillight assembly rises along with the liftgate, redundant lights were also added into the rear fascia.
Unfortunately, the low angle of these spy shots leaves us without a view of the interior, but based on its looks alone, the MKC is shaping up to be a promising vehicle for a brand that so badly needs some fresh metal.
