1997 Lincoln Mark VIII - Custom Metallic Black Paint. Only 19,097 original miles on the car.

For a 16 year old car it is in excellent condition.

I bought the car about 2 years ago with 5,995 miles on it, when I purchased the car I had new tires put on the car and had it painted a custom metallic black - there is not another Mark VIII out there like this one! I turn heads every where I go with it. It has just had new brakes and rotors all the way around put on less than 2 months ago and the A/C blows cold.  I have taken pride in keeping this car as perfect as possible.  Oil has been changed every 3,000 miles, seats have had leather conditioner put on them every couple of weeks and the car has always been waxed 2 times a year (just been waxed this week).  I also have only driven in the snow 2 or 3 times (because our other vehicle was broke).  Car has been in a climate controlled garaged since I have owned it.

Most people are wondering why this car being a 1997 has such low miles - The story goes like this - the car was a theft recovery in 1998 (NEVER WRECKED) and was stripped clean.  A local body shop bought the car to repair and resell (since back then this car sold for over $45,000).  They replaced everything on the car but could never get the car to start and run so they parked for a while.  Over a period of 13 years they made several attempts to have different mechanics look at the car, but no one could ever figure out why it would not start.  2 years ago a friend of mine found the car and knew that I had been looking for one and asked the owners if they would sell it - at this point they were ready to send it out for scrap as they had over $20,000 invested into it and could not get it to run, so they agreed to sell it to me.  I have another friend who is an excellent mechanic working on Fords for a living and told me it was one of 4 things wrong with it, but none of them major or costly so I bought the car.  Within hours of getting the car he had it running (started on first crank).  What was wrong - when the car was vandalized they took everything including the tires and rims and when the wrecker pulled the car onto a flat bed it pulled the wires out to the crank sensor - simple as that!  I have drove the car for just under 2 years and have had only a couple of minor problems with it (passengers rotor was sticking) and the clock spring is now not working (quit about 6 months ago).  I have been unable to find one, but it is in no way impossible to get one.  I have been looking for a new one but you can put a used one in the car.

You may e-mail me any questions that you may have and/or phone number to call you.

I am only selling the car because I am now doing craft shows and I need a truck to carry a tent, grid wall set up and the craft that I make to the shows that I do.

Lincoln poised to double MKZ Hybrid production

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has been something of a hit for Ford since the beginning, exceeding the company's modest projected 15-percent take rate for more than two years (we say "modest" because that still means an overwhelming majority of Lincoln customers are passing up on the gas-electric powertrain even though it costs the same as the standard model). Either way, Lincoln builds 700 MKZ Hybrids at its plant in Mexico each month, but has sold 715 of them in each of the past three months. That's why, according to a report in The Detroit News, when the restyled 2014 MKZ Hybrid arrives (non-hybrid pictured), Ford is doubling production compared to 2013. Instead of the hybrid model being 20 percent of production, the new hybrid will make up 40 percent.
Ford is doing well with hybrids in general - its portion of the electrified vehicle segment jumping 12 points in a single year to 16 percent. Assuming Ford doesn't change the pricing strategy (along with the changes Ford is making to calibration to improve fuel economy), the sedan could continue to "[show] other luxury hybrids how it's done" when it goes on sale later this year.

Lincoln unveils its Black Label Collection at Pebble Beach

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

With the posh surroundings of Monterey, CA during the Pebble Beach week as a backdrop, Lincoln has unveiled is new personalization and luxury service brand, called Lincoln Black Label. Following in the footsteps of programs like BMW Individual, Range Rover Autobiography, and many more, Black Label is strategic strike, aimed at upping Lincoln's brand cachet while luring new customers into the fold. Speaking about this at the Black Label's introduction in California Thursday, Jim Farley, Ford's executive vice president of Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln, told members of the media that "At Lincoln, our flagship is, you get to choose. That's our flagship."
While Black Label customers will benefit from concierge-like service from their dealers - both during the sale process and throughout ownership - the focus of the introduction is strongly focused on interior design.
Lincoln chose its current MKZ sedan and its MKC Concept crossover (seen in the inset image) as the debutants for Black Label treatment for good reason: the well-received MKC points the way forward for Lincoln styling as a whole, and the MKZ will be the first production vehicle to receive the option of the high-zoot interior design. We're told that eventually, Black Label treatment will be available for the full Lincoln lineup, but the MKZ will be the initial recipient, and not until late in 2014 according to the company's current projections.

Lincoln MKC spied in final form

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

When the Lincoln MKC Concept debuted back in January, it received fairly positive feedback from both Autoblog editors and readers alike, and this bodes well for the production version of the luxury crossover judging by these latest spy shots. Reader Ivan Lo captured a few pictures of some MKC prototypes driving around with minimal camouflage, which gives us our best look yet at the design of this new Escape-based Lincoln.
Based on the spy shots from back in May, we already knew that the production MKC would sport some real door handles, a little side cladding and bigger door mirrors, but these latest shots also show us that the rear quarter windows have been enlarged and the integrated dual exhaust outlets have been replaced by round pipes. This means that the MKC will retain the concept's narrow headlights and what is arguably Lincoln's best execution of its split-wing grille. Even better, the rear view confirms the stylish horizontal taillights will remain intact, as well as the Audi-like wraparound liftgate. Since the entire taillight assembly rises along with the liftgate, redundant lights were also added into the rear fascia.
Unfortunately, the low angle of these spy shots leaves us without a view of the interior, but based on its looks alone, the MKC is shaping up to be a promising vehicle for a brand that so badly needs some fresh metal.
